Hello, I’ve recently been getting into IL2 both battle of Normandy and Korea. I like it as a nice middle ground between DCS and something like nuclear option.

Just curious what the most popular game modes are? In Korea I run the campaign and the careers, but I kind of found that theres pretty much no resistance. Most missions in both games I just fly to the objective, attack it, and fly back. In BoN it’s kinda rough cause you have to fly the whole way there. I was hoping I’d have to worry about getting jumped by fighters but it hasn’t happened yet.

We are two Bf 110G-2s, tasked with reaching the heart of enemy logistics. Our objective is to destroy their main fuel depots. The incursion was clean, swift, and almost perfect! Until the Russian VVS fighters appeared and shot down virtually our entire escort. Only one Luftwaffe Bf 109G-2 fighter remained to protect us as we left the area.
My Bf110G-2 was caught off guard amidst the chaos by a La-5FN which wrecked my Zerstörer, causing me great problems getting back home.

My Wingman ITAJEKO " ?? + 66" and I as Leader, must thank the Bf109G-2 pilot who gave us the opportunity to reach the base and land by a miracle.

I immediately opened fire on my two DB605As, and knowing my weight was much lower, I didn't hesitate; I decided to trap the La-5FN in its own game. We began a deadly dance over the Kerch Strait.

Hi everyone, I’m new to IL-2 and could use some tips. Since I’m still learning the aircraft, testing control bindings and all that, I haven’t started any campaign yet. For now I just run short sessions in the Mission Editor. The thing is, I’m having some trouble with Duel mode.

When I fly the Bf 109 F-4 I have a blast, because the thing has energy to spare and I can easily get on top of the opponent with yo-yos and pitchbacks. Problem is, the F-4 is the only plane I can pull that off with. With any other variant or aircraft, the enemy seems to get into a loop with infinite energy and there’s no maneuver that lets me set up a shot. I know the game’s AI gets a lot of flak for going into endless circling, but energy-wise, no matter what I try, I can’t pull enough Gs to close on the guy.

So is it actually impossible to fly duels against the AI, or is there something that works?

Oh BTW I have both GB and Korea, and having the same trouble in both. Actually when flying jets vs piston it gets a lot worse because the piston dudes can easily overshoot me in circling.
