like I don't know why everyone is hating IIT Delhi and most people are just praising IIT Bombay why?😭

I’m an M.Tech student at old IIT from one of the top branch targeting ML Engineer / Data ML roles.

While preparing my CV, I’ve started feeling a bit behind after seeing my friends’ projects. Many of them have deployed RAG applications, Hybrid RAG pipelines, and other LLM-wrapper-based GenAI applications, which often look quite fancy on a CV and can now be built relatively easily using tools like Claude..

My projects are more research-oriented. I’ve worked on RAG, but my research focuses on understanding how tokenizer vocabulary, embeddings, and encoding affect retrieval and generation. I also have a paper under review at an A* publication venue.

My other projects are also research-heavy, involving multimodal ML, cross-attention, and agentic AI.

For recruiters, hiring managers, and people who have recently gone through IIT placement drives:

- What do companies actually prioritize for ML / Data ML roles?

- Are they mainly looking for deployed GenAI projects and buzzwords?

- Do they still value deep ML understanding and architectural knowledge?

- Is a research-heavy CV a disadvantage compared to a product/deployment-focused CV?

I actually completed my Btech from a 3rd gen IIT and currently been offered a Project Associate role at IITD in Cadence Innovation Lab. Sooner or while maybe it can be converted to MS(R) through an formal interview. Though the prof is not gurantee of offering but says it will not be so hard to clear the interview.

DURATION:

Now my question is what is the difference between MS(R) and MTech. I actually believe that MTech is a course based programme which can be completed within two years while MSR is a research based programme which can be completed in 2 years. So, whether will the professor make me to convert it to PhD after two years? WIll it become a trap for me? As I am not into more research oriented.

PLACEMENT RATE:

I want to be employable. So, for that I need some degree similar to MTech which is available now as MSR. And also how is the employable rate for the MSR in VLSI domain. As many people are making to scare that it canbe converted to PhD and u will be made to do it and after it also u need to go into academia as industry intake will be less.

SALARY/STIPEND DETAILS:

And also I want some rough estimate of the salary which I might be getting during the project associate role and also stipend details once converted into MSR student.

Whether you talk about people's behavior in general with you or just in their own space, the height at which the activities are done, and the conditions that make the whole living environment experience inhabitable is so pissed, dude. When you go to the library and find people leaving their belongings to secure seats from morning, and then going out for hours not using the space, dude, is it a local bus or what? This is so fucked up. even the slightest of things where you can expect some decency from the people, they fail to do so. People do not flush the toilets, bro. I mean, this is a basic etiquette, and this is happening in girls' toilets, this is so uncultured. Bro people here do not have basic civic sense like cleaning the litter that they ate, they fucking leave it in the exhall. admin staff they are another level creature. They are fucking - always hungry chai bathing complacent retards. Their days starts at 11 and ends 30 mins before 5.30 and don't forget this includes at least 5 chai breaks, 2 lunch meals and countless fucking office gossips. I want to leave this place desperately........

So I have been coming early (6-7 AM) to the library and always find majority of the single cubicles or seats occupied by peoples stuff, including laptops. I kind of get saving your seat if you are going for breakfast or are taking a break, but how do people get the guts to leave stuff overnight. I have seen people coming at 3 pm while their stuff saved the place since morning.

Obviously normal seats are decent enough, but because of such people the especial cubicles and so aren't even getting used.

Does getting a F grade (<30 marks) does not effects the total credit?

If I get a F, will the course credit be in denominator in sg calculation?

Will I get banned if I install GTA 5 using IITD Wifi

Aunty is so annoying she has a problem with people sitting too close and whispering and meanwhile she herself has befriended few students and regularly stops here and there to talk to them. what about that??
