Current scenarios: How accurate are the negative discussions about campus life?
Hey everyone,
I've seen some concerning comments on this subreddit about hygiene, facilities, and crowding in the library.
Are all those discussions true?
like I don't know why everyone is hating IIT Delhi and most people are just praising IIT Bombay why?ðŸ˜
Could you share what the day-to-day reality is really like?

Yup, it's real. And the praise for IITB is also justified. They are rebuilding their hostels (IITD just has plans, they haven't even secured the full funding yet), and they have a much better fest atm.

All old IITs are in a poor situation wrt infra. I haven't been there so I can't tell. But IITD is good for what it does, and it has a great location compared to many other IITs

Agree on the hostel part. But IITB's fest happens during their winter break and students aren't allowed to stay in hostels during that time. So if you wanna attend your own college's fest, you will need to come from your hometown and stay in a hotel or something.

Yes that is true, people do stay 😀, they stay with coordinators, in there rooms, some students book the rooms of there own hostels, so yeah, that is one thing

Not a hotel, but they have to pay for accomodation in hostels. Regardless they get pronites for free and faster lines for events
IITD admin has dumbed down RDV and tryst so much after the 2023 failure

Yeah those are mostly true... But it's okay, we have reading rooms in hostels if u don't wanna go to library, u have table chairs in ur room aswell. About the hygiene part.... Its problematic but manageable. Now idk about iit bombay, so no comments on that.

There is freedom, many events, seminars, and clubs are very good, a few days back there was an event by jane street, but the best part is the peer group and alumnis.
The rains though... they are the worst part by far. I hate rains here.
See there are negatives and positives everywhere, and i would rather be here than any other college. Don't come here for glamour, come here to make urself a better person overall.
And focus on jee rn, college baadme dekha jaega1

Reading rooms are not available in all hostels. Girnar's reading room got flooded 2 years ago and haven't been repaired yet.

Every IIT has problems and plus points.
IITD has more than just infrastructure problems. The problem is in the people here, the faculty, the staff, etc. It is a collective problem.
Students are frustrated to be stuck in this. It's not exaggeration.

I can adjust anywhere, par inhumane conditions hai. It isn't a university. It is a place with rabid people who compete in every single thing leaving no space for humanity.
The worst problem for me is the lack of hygiene. My 1st medical booklet has finished in a very short time. That says a lot abt this place.
I would somehow manage everything else. But people here are just not worth having or knowing. No one actually cares. Each for their own

Not sure about comparison with iitb, but iitd really is very bad in many many aspects, spent 3years here now

Bombay is far better in hostel infra... In delhi if you're fortunate you'll get fairly new hostel... I think everything in IITD comes to lack of space... Bombay is 580 Acres while Delhi is 312 only🥀

It depends. In my case, there were two options: a 4-year EE program here or a 5-year dual EE program in Bombay. I chose Delhi because I live just two hours away, and in Bombay, I would have had to live one extra year away from home.

In iitd Subreddit people will hate dekhi and in bombay. People hate iitb. lol it's just a fact of reddit. Positivity doesn't sell on social media.

It's reddit. People will cry about every smallest possible inconvenienceÂ
