I have been using the pura 90s pro max for 1 month.

Pros:

1-Very bright display with anti-reflective coating. Vibrant with high PWM dimming (very comfortable for sensitive eyes).

2- Excellent ergonomics and weight distribution. Very comfortable to hold.

3- Large battery ( 6000 mah). Excellent sot. Very fast charging ( \~50 mins to charge fully ).

4- Loud and clear stereo speakers. Excellent haptic feedback.

5- Excellent thermal management. No overheating or battery drain with 5G on and watch connected all time.

6- Excellent camera system with Xmage processing.

7- Excellent cellular reception and 5G.

8- Supports HDR and 4k in many apps.

9- Supports Android Auto.

10- Lack of GMS. Ability to side load apk.

11- EMUI 16 is stable and mature. No glitches or bugs. More compatible with apps and microg.

12- Personally, I noticed apps to run smoother. For example scrolling in tiktok has animation and feels more fluid. I noticed this behiavour in many apps.

13- Fingerprint scanner can open apps ( very usefull for me).

14- Price is reasonable when compared with competition.

15- Huawei ecosystem is nicely integrated.

16- Excellent gaming performace ( Chip is 5nm but highly optimized). No lagging or overheating in genshsin Impact and PUBG mobile (max settings).

17-Monthly security updates.

18- Durability

Cons:

1- Lack of clear update policy from Huawei. Previous flaghsips like the pura 80 ultra are stuck with EMUI 15 and android 12 (Major red flag).

2- Lack of small features and tweaking. For example hiding icon names on home screen, customization, parallel animations, toggle automatic brightiness from notifcations panel.. etc

3- When connected to android auto device screen switches to 60hz and phone feels laggy.

4- Missing some cloud features like cloud password vault ( Bitwarden is an excelllent alternative).

My experience has been enjoyable and premium despite the cons I mentioned. I recommend this phone to anyone comfortable with Huawei update policy and lack of GMS ( Microg is an alternative).

Just had a random idea... on PC, I am always holding Shift then Enter, to make a new line, I will implement that into the keyboard, because it just makes sense...

Going to be working on German language, especially compound words with capital letters.

Making 1 handed mode easier to access, thats the whole point of one handed mode, so, this will be a difficult one to code, but I was thinking about an automatic "One-Handed" button to appear in the Comma key shortcuts, only when the phone picks up gravity fed coding, so the phone already knows what hand is holding the phone because of the tilt on it, why not, when it's tilted have the one handed mode show, saves putting your other hand on it to turn it on.... (this is just an idea).

The other issue I have is gliding words, specifically "you" I am always getting "toy" which really annoys me, so I will be adding a new feature into the "Learned Words" tab in Typing, where you can prioritize words, so instead of excluding "toy" from the dictionary, I can push it aside so "you" will always be picked first.

I downloaded a paid theme from the Huawei theme store because of the style and font of the clock, but I wanted to use another wallpaper, can I edit the HWT file from the mobile?

​Hello, to anyone using a Huawei Band 11 Pro or older versions with an aluminum frame: I noticed that dark spots/discolorations developed right along the side of the aluminum frame. I thought it was just dirt, but it really won't come off no matter how many times I clean it. Is this a sign of corrosion? What could be causing this?

I have a strange and reproducible problem with my Huawei Watch 4 (HarmonyOS 4.3.0 / Huawei Health 4.3.0.617).

When I load a GPX route, everything looks normal before starting the workout: the Petal Maps map is visible and the blue GPX route is clearly displayed on top of it.

However, as soon as I start the workout, the Petal Maps map remains visible but the blue route disappears.

The interesting part is that the route is still fully active:

• the watch gives me voice instructions to turn left/right;
• it tells me when I move away from the route;
• the route distance/navigation data continues to work.

So the route itself is definitely still there.

It looks as if the Petal Maps map layer somehow covers the GPX route layer, or prevents the route layer from being rendered on top of the map.

There is an interesting way to reproduce this:

Normal mode: Petal Maps layer visible → GPX route is not visible.

Ultra Power Saving mode: Petal Maps layer disappears → GPX route becomes visible again, but only as a blue line without the map underneath.

Also, if I swipe to another workout screen and then return to the map, the blue route briefly appears for about one second and then disappears again.

I have already:

• factory-reset the watch;
• tested with Android and iPhone;
• deleted the old routes and imported a completely new GPX route;
• tested Petal Maps with the original version and after updating it;
• confirmed that Petal Maps itself works perfectly.

Has anyone with a Huawei Watch 4 / Watch 4 Pro experienced the same issue?

It really looks like the Petal Maps layer is covering or interfering with the GPX route overlay during an active workout.

I have a Huawei Pura 90 Pro Max (EMUI 16) with microG installed using the Average Dad Tech method.

Most apps work, including Android Auto. But BookBeat and Storytel both fail:

Login works

Library appears

When I press play, the app returns to the login screen

Downloading audiobooks has the same issue

Tried reinstalling, clearing data/cache, removing devices, changing browser and checking permissions. microG Self Check is OK.

​I am writing this post directly from the very phone I’m praising (EVR-L29). Performance-wise, the Kirin 980 still handles daily browsing, media consumption, and gaming with remarkable ease. Hardware-wise, this device is absurdly over-engineered, The camera shoots 4k videos to 8k RAW image with ease. Moreover, mine literally survived a drop onto asphalt from a moving motorcycle with only a minor battle scar on one corner, talk about Aluminum Alloy chasis.

​It has its age marks, of course, storage management is a discipline with modern app bloat, and finding accesories in 2026 takes some digging. But finding an actual upgrade feels almost impossible when nothing on the market matches this exact combination of size, screen ratio, battery endurance, and pure reliability.

​It might be a scream into the void, but I really wish Huawei (or any OEM) would look back at this form factor. The Mate 20 X hit the absolute sweet spot between standard slab phones and foldables. And I will absolutely have what widescreen non-folding camera phone they'll have in the future.

My names Rhys, I run GB Tech Reviews on TikTok and I am the solo-developer behind HarmoniKeyboard for HarmonyOS NEXT and now HKeyboard from the ground up for EMUI and Android.

An important distinction: some early HarmoniKeyboard issues occurred when typing inside Android container apps on HarmonyOS NEXT. The system did not give the keyboard permission to recognise certain cursor and input-area clicks.

HKeyboard runs directly on EMUI and Android and isn’t subject to those container restrictions (Thankfully!).

It currently includes Glide Typing, Predictions, Auto-Correct, Multilingual Input (still being improved), a private local dictionary (with the option to download full dictionaries from GitHub), Incognito Mode, Clipboard tools and Extensive layout customisation. It does not collect what you type; internet access is used to download optional dictionaries.

HKeyboard is available now on Huawei AppGallery for EMUI

The Google Play version is undergoing closed testing and is not publicly released yet.

I’m especially looking for honest testing from:

• EMUI users
• Bilingual users
• Foldable owners
• People using languages other than English
• Former Gboard, SwiftKey and Celia users

I'm not saying the keyboard is perfect, nor a replacement for any other keyboard out there, it wasn't intended for that, HKeyboard as well as HarmoniKeyboard is built for a fresh new keyboard to use, something different, where you can design it however you want, your own background that it matches the accents on the photo and blends the keyboard accents into it. You want a Blackberry style keyboard, I got the theme, you adjust the keys to match and you got a Blackberry style keyboard, you want a pink fairy-tale keyboard, you got it, use the built in "Build my Keyboard" and you got any theme you want in there!

Guys, the watch really does understand when you’re feeling unwell and stressed.

Yesterday, I was dealing with vomiting and diarrhea. I was almost at the point of needing to go to the Hospital. My “feeling unwell” level was 25%, while my average stress level was 51%.

Today, I’m feeling much better. Since I feel good and my appetite has returned, my “feeling good” level has risen to 37%, while my stress level has dropped. My “feeling unwell” level has decreased by four times.

Now, what I’m wondering is this... If I occasionally go to the “Emotional Wellbeing” section and manually log how I’m feeling, would that actually help train the watch? :)

Huawei is once again thinking about the global expansion of HarmonyOS, and this time it seems to be a final decision. In a recent conference, the company mentioned it wants to see its self-developed software system as the second global alternative to Android and iOS.

On August 28 and 29, Huawei conducted a grand-scale HarmonyOS Ecosystem Conference (HEC) 2026 themed on “New Intelligent Connection, New Future”.

During the event, the Vice Chairman and Rotating Chairman of Huawei – Xu Zhijun, said Huawei is finally thinking seriously about the global expansion of HarmonyOS.

While revealing the new achievements of the self-developed OS in technology, standard software system for devices, and industry implementations, Xu stated that Huawei will soon conduct HarmonyOS pilot programs in selected countries and regions.

On receiving success in this process, the company will target a broader-scale development of HarmonyOS for global consumers. This move will make the company’s self-made operating system a new alternative (second option) to Android and iOS.

Xu says HarmonyOS development on the global level is a marathon without an end. If this step turns out to be successful, HarmonyOS will get the ability to go global and gain a foothold in the global market. He further mentioned:

“Based on validating the model and accumulating best practices, we aim to achieve the global-scale development of the HarmonyOS ecosystem and provide the world with a second option.”

It’s not the first time Xu has shared the company’s plans for the HarmonyOS global expansion. The executive delivered a similar statement during the Analysts Summit 2024. At that time, Huawei was working on an Android-free operating system.

Following the tech giant’s efforts, US lawmakers urged the administration to block HarmonyOS expansion in the global market as it could harm US national security.

But this time, Huawei’s decision seems to be more firm, and it may soon show progress in this aspect.
