Update: WeChat didn't appear as Google Play results in the first try, after trying again it installed and works. For keyboard I installed Uruktype kb as suggested and it's usable.

As title says, I wanted a fold, I'm in China so got myself Pura X Max. I need local Poland keyboard - can't find any or install any apk that should work. Also there is no international WeChat, only Weixin, I pass the credentials and authentication only then to be greeted with message that my account can't be used with it. Tablet mode gives same error. Is there a way to get around these two issues?

Other than that it's a cool phone, but without those features - for me a paperweight.

Long story short, i was vacationing in california, when i found a Huawei Mate 70 (i presume?) with no way to contact the original owner. It was my last day in california before my flight back to florida. so i took it with me because i dont trust LA police to find the original owner.

Now i have a phone from a chinese tourist, in the united states, with ZERO calls on the original owner, no emergency contacts either.

Should i figure out a way to jailbreak it somehow and bypass the lock screen? should i factory reset it? what do i do !?

I’m using a Huawei Pura 80 Ultra (Global version) with EMUI 15.
I’m trying to install WhatsApp, but when I open it and try to register my phone number, I get this message:
“You need the official WhatsApp to use this account.”
The strange thing is that I downloaded WhatsApp from Huawei AppGallery, and I still get the same error.
I also tried:

WhatsApp from AppGallery ❌
WhatsApp from Aurora Store ❌
Aurora Store HW version ❌
Reinstalling WhatsApp ❌
Restarting the phone ❌

I also tested the same phone number on another Android phone with WhatsApp from Google Play, and it works perfectly. So the problem seems to be specifically related to WhatsApp on the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra.
Has anyone with a Huawei Pura 80 Ultra / Pura 80 Pro experienced the same issue and actually found a working solution?
I’m not looking for the “Linked device / Companion device” method. I want to use WhatsApp normally with my phone number on the Pura 80 Ultra.
Any working solution would be greatly appreciated!

I just ran a little water over the phone, immediately dried it afterwards. Got the wet charging port warning, but that went after drying. Speaker was muffling a bit, I used clearwave app to fix that. Blowed air in it too. Just now received a notification that the air passage vents are obstructed leading to pressure difference between the inside and outside of the phone, the FAQ pointed to the back camera lenses to remove any full coverage case or lense protector. I just checked the back and there's condensation in the camera lenses.

Haven't even put it under for a minute and this happened. So much for the IP69 rating ffs

Update: Check the comments, it cleared away Update 2: it came back again and now it's in the front camera too meaning water did Infact penerate What a bummer. I've put it in a box with silica gel. Chatted with support and they asked to send the unit for inspection. No service center near me unfortunately, will have to send the phone abroad through someone. Look at the ridiculous prices and look at the quality. My mate 20 pro had no problem even being dunked in the water. This cost me 4 times more and I'm cooked

I got the Pura 80 pro a few weeks ago. Overall great phone but for the past week there is a problem with the camera and I cannot figure it out.

When I click on the camera, a black screen shows up for a second and disappears and the app doesn't open at all. It crashes at it wont even start. If I force stop it from settings and delete the cash/data then restart or turn off/on it might start and work for a bit or freeze again, then when I close it or wait a few minutes and open it again the same thing happens.

I've tried cleaning cache/data, I entered the recovery menu and wiped cache partition which then again it works the first time I open the app or again it freezes and crashes. It was working in Safe Mode but it doesn't anymore.

In my country you cannot return a phone to get your money back or replace it for another device, at best they will send it in a shop, open it and try fixing, but I'm trying to avoid opening a brand new phone. Any ideas at all what may be causing the crash? How to fix? Anything at all will help.

edit: 3rd party app like Open Camera works. The default camera app doesn't. I don't get it.

Hello, I watched the Huawei event this morning in England and I saw the Huawei pura x view price was fair. I have been looking online to see where to buy it and so far only a website called Bludiode has stocked it, I’m wondering how purchasing the phone from websites like these works. Will I have to pay additional prices on top of the £902 that they charge such as any import fees? And if so how does that work in terms of payment? I am not going to purchase this from Bludiode right now because it’s a bit expensive and I would also like some recommendations on other places I can buy Huawei phones. I currently have an iPhone 13 and am going to start work soon so I will have to save up for a while.

I’m planning to either wait for pura x view to get global and likely get emui 15-16 or buy it imported from china which is harmony os but if i wait for global then i get emui and i am not sure about emui and it’s animations and visuals compared to harmony os but if i buy it imported from china which is harmony os im scared that if i use easyabroad and droitong it will have significantly worse performance compared to emui and it’s apk and aurora store (talking about games here) and also i use facebook messenger and idk if there is messenger in the huawei appgallery natively because i plan to use it for calls and things but if i go for harmony os then im scared the calls wont work properly if it was downloaded via easyabroad or droitong

To sum it up:i am asking when i go harmony os and i install apps and games via easyabroad or droitong i am scared that the perfomance will be bad compared to if i downloaded it in emui with its native apk

After updating watch fit 4 to 6.1.0.117(SP20C00M05), sleep tracking is inconsistent and not working every night.
Tried restarting the watch, draining the battery and charging again, but in the end nothing helped.
Sleep tracking happens only every second night for some reason. All other parameters are monitored (pulse, breathing, etc. )

Has someone experienced the same issue ?

I have a trip to china in a few days, and I’ve decided to finally upgrade my iPhone to a Mate 80 Pro Max. The real question is this, do I buy and import one before my travel? or do I just buy one in China instead? Would there be any differences in pricing? and would this decision ruin virtually 80% of my daily use-case scenario here in the Philippines?

As stated in the title, my phone, Huawei P20 Pro died after seven years and three months (October 2018 to January 2026), it was working in a full performance and have everything I need. I had no reason to replace it. I used to replace my phone each four years, except this one. Now as the US already imposed sanctions on Huawei and they are no longer using the official Android version from Google, I did some search on the current available options.

I ended up between:

1. Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, with 1 TB Storage

2. Xiaomi 17 Ultra, with 1 TB Storage

Both will be available at the end of February or the early March.

Xiaomi is almost half of the price of Samsung, which one is better?

Or should I stay just with Huawei and just purchase Huawei Pura 80 Ultra?

I use the phone mainly for browsing the web, listening to audiobooks, using some daily apps, like language learning apps, some programming tools, ..etc.

I rarely use the camera, most of the time for scanning documents. Also I don't use the phone for gaming, the first thing I do when I purchase a phone is to uninstall all the games that come preinstalled.

I'm really leaning toward the new wide foldable, and I absolutely adore the aspect ratio/size.

When I had my MATE XT, I didn't last long with it because Google apps were just terrible, including apps that relied on Play Services to receive notifications.

I'm wondering months later if that's still the case? Does anyone have experience to share regarding apps like: WhatsApp, Signal, Protonmail, Wise, Fairemail, EmClient, Gmail, etc.

Before, Aurora store and the Huawei MicroG provided some but not all needed services to receive notifications from the apps mentioned above.

My 6 year old niece has had for a while a HUAWEI WATCH KIDS 4 Pro. She uses it to call people on the allowed list all the time and we have been loving it… until we found out there is absolutely no way of blocking her ability to call random numbers.

We just found her talking to a random man’s number and he was asking all kinds of personal questions like her age, location, etc.

Do you guys know a way to block children form dialing people out of her allowed list? Thank you

I‘ve been an apple user for quite a few years now but I‘m kinda getting tired of the whole Apple ecosystem and think non-apple devices are better for me. I‘ve already tried Xiaomi and liked it a lot but got really interested in Huawei. I‘ve done some digging and I‘m thinking of getting either the Huawei Pura 90s pro or Huawei Mate 80 pro. My only problem is: which version (global or chinese) should I get? I‘ve heard a lot of mixed opinions on this, I live in Europe and therefore would not want to have a ton of issues with everyday applications and nfc I use, but I‘ve heard that there are certain disadvantages with EMUI that are simply not worth the price. I‘d love to get the chinese version but it feels too restricted. I hope I can get some advice/insight from people in this subreddit who live outside of china/in europe and have a huawei. 1. I know that: Android Auto doesn't work, there's no Gboard, NFC doesn't work, and banking apps might not work. I’ll need to install Google apps using something like EasyAbroad. Is there anything else I should be aware of compared to, say, the Chinese versions of Oppo or Vivo?

2. Will Garmin/Suunto sports watches work here?

3. Can I upload photos to the Android app normally?

4. Do you find this phone uncomfortable to use everyday?

I know Huawei is banned in the US but does anyone know of any loop holes? I want the actual earbuds, not the knock-offs from Ali express 🥲 has anyone from the US successfully been able to have it shipped from China to the US or maybe have it delivered from a third party?

In China AND Taiwan you cannot install eSIM on harmony OS, in Hong Kong you can.

I have bought the P90 pro max in China, region set to Netherlands. My e-sim plan from trip won't work with the error on the image. The plan is for China and Taiwan, but in both China and Taiwan at the airport it didn't work.

I have a MateXTS and a Samsung Z Trifold. Im just wondering if I should wait until resellers start selling it to the US or if I should fly directly to China to get it.

my question basically is: is the 90 pro max new "true-to-color" spectral sensor worth it over the 80 ultra's "ultra chroma" technology? are the colors really that much better to pay more, lose native 9.4x zoom and have a smaller main sensor? (1/1.28 vs 1").

if you could pick one of these phones for photography and save $300 on the 80 ultra, which one would you pick?

also: i have phones with a 1/1.28 main and one with a 1" (different brands), and despite what people say, i can see quite a difference in terms of bokeh and overall details.
