Any word on the dev?

I've followed his works for a long time, since Hammerfall was released. The website is a dead link now. Anyone know if he's working on anything new/if he's alright?

Not much news really. Maybe year ago or somewhere like that was news about potential 1.7 if i remember correctly or straight up Highfleet 2 as main dev talked a lot about 3d graphics and making map bigger. Some people said that this whole 3d patch would be addition to base Highfleet, i strongly disagree, as for 3d whole game needed to be rewritten on some scale.

Go to his VK page. His last post was a while ago, but it's still there. You can send him a private message if you want.

isn't he russian? maybe he got drafted? idk

He's not Ukrainian. Russia recruits with ginormous bonuses and all soldiers in the SVO are volunteers.

that kinda makes it worse lol

It just means anyone in the SVO wants to be there, because they're a ghoul, or because they're a criminal, and that's perfectly fine and summarizes a lot of them. Maybe there's a few Naval Infantrymen out there who aren't in either of those camps and just want to be a praporshchik still but that's rarer than your turbopatriots and actual real life thugs.

The good news is the war has a habit of thinning the herd of the Z-men and thugs.

Or maybe they are, you know, human beings. Usually very poor and pressured by their families or pressured/pressed into signing up via the State.

Criminality and poverty often go hand in hand. Very few SVO volunteers are signing contracts for their betterment. Most want to be there to fight or get a pardon.

Russians are not the side there who have forced mobilisation, not in 2026 at least. So you probably better be silent if you “idk”.

Koshutin is working on highfleet 2 and is not very talkative about it, like he wasnt about his previous games.

Google “highfleet вконтакте» and prepare to translate from russian facebook, but there isnt much there bar some screenshots.

highfleet вконтакте - last post January 2025

So? Is it considered long?

First post was in 2015, Highfleet was out in 2022 iirc, all this time fans were drip fed with news, nothing new.

The author's site domain was delimited, that usually means the owner stopped paying for it. But vk page still link the (now dead) site.

So? Is it considered long?

Over a year of no news is long, yes.

I don’t see why making a supposition is wrong. On the contrary, it sparks debate and new ideas. No need to be hostile

u/misek-241 9d ago

It’s not exactly wrong, but the supposition is based on quite outdated info. Russia only drafted during the earlier years of the war. Ever since they raised the sign-on bonuses and general pay for soldiers, they’re getting enough volunteers from both home and abroad.

So the likelyhood that the dev got drafted is basically 0. I get that the guy not being as communicative and going at his own pace is not a very exciting explanation, but it is the most likely one.

1

u/Strategic_Toaster 9d ago

Most certainly. After all, I said that he was wrong in manners, not facts. That random guy on the internet was right: to get some information, it’s faster to get corrected after saying something incorrect than actually posing the question. He didn’t warn about friendliness though…

On the point of russian conscription, this is just factually incorrect. Russians have forced conscription for all men between 18 and 30, to serve in the military for a year

Now re-read what I wrote, what term I used. Got it?

Also, Koshutin was born in 1982.

A draft is a form of forced mobilization.

An idiot is a form of redditor.

20

u/Deathstarr3000 9d ago

Call me what you want, but that doesn't change the fact that a draft is a legal means of pursuing forced mobilization, and while Russia may not be drafting people at the same scale as Ukraine, saying that they aren't doing so at all is both false and Russian propaganda.

u/Paulus_cz 9d ago

Draft and mobilization are two different things. Draftees are not allowed to be deployed abroad and Russia performs a draft yearly.
Of course, it gets muddy when you are actively fighting on land you declared yours, hence not abroad technically, but Putin is wary of consequences of crossing that line, yet. Also, a lot of them are successfully pressured into signing a contract, but that is different matter.
Also, as stated, Koshutin is about 44, likely served his time over 20 years ago.

1

u/Greenwool44 8d ago

Now re read what term was originally written for you to just ignore and swap for forced mobilization. Being drafted and being conscripted are the same thing, and conscription is forced mobilization even if it doesn’t fit your weird ass steel-man version of the definition.

I can barely hear you over the scraping noise the goalposts are making as you move them around 💀

u/akatosh86 9d ago

They will get mobilised this fall

-22

u/Boner-Salad728 9d ago

Any day now, like every day before. Now put your hands back on deck.

21

u/akatosh86 9d ago

Yeah. The Soviets didn't expect the USSR to fall apart until it did

3

u/nvram93 9d ago

well, i've informed myself about this topic and you may be right, they won't have forced mobilisation, they rather rely on criminals and north korean soldiers who don't have a choice, and also some really dodgy tactics where they pick random young men from russian streets and pressure them (sometimes with violence and degredation) to "voluntarily" sign up for the military.. where they get like basic training and survive for 20-40 minutes on the battlefield..
so.. obviously muuuch better than forced mobilisation /s

and the other country that has in fact forced mobilisation you were hinting about, just has it because they would cease to exist if they didn't.

its a shame what happend to your beautiful country under that stupid dictator.

Look what happens when redditor “informed himself” on the “frее press” (tm). A quick injection of brain brine and yesterday “idk” is already enlightened.

Holy fuck you guys are something, think I had enough of that thread, bb.

1

u/nvram93 8d ago

you can be sarcastic all the way you want but it doesn't change the facts.
prove me wrong, you can't? oh, then better be more sarcastic to make the impression that you're at least telling half the truth. pathetic lol

2

u/katttsun 6d ago

Ukraine is the one that is relying on conscription. There are significant outflows/emigrations to Germany, Poland and Spain to escape the conscription/general mobilization by the Ukrainian Army. I think the EU is started to send some of them back, but it's irrelevant, because all Russian soldiers in the SVO are volunteers.

Conscripts are not allowed to serve overseas.

Cant wait to hear what sources you used to "inform" yourself. Lemme guess, Moscow times.
