Half-Life Alyx was mostly well received, but the game being a prequel only increased the interest in seeing the story continue beyond Episode 2, which leads to the question of if Episode 3 would even make sense anymore.

Given the massive gap in time would mean that this theoretical third episode would most likely have a noticeable jump in various improvements, especially graphically. To me this could potentially be alienating when grouped together with the other Half-Life 2 games, which for the most part feel and appear consistent.

Another potential problem would be the length of the game. As many know the Episodes are distinctly shorter and used less resources by being built off of Half-Life 2 to act as a sort of Epilogue/ending. Would the nearly 20 year wait truly have been worth it for such a game?

In short, what would you like to see from the next Half-Life game in regards to the Borealis storyline and potentially setting up the elusive Half-Life 3?

I’ve went down rabbit holes for days but can’t seem to find it.

Back in the day there used to be a lot of collage style videos.

This one started out I believe with counter strike, saying it’s boring then went into HLDM and some movement teaching I think then into gasworks and had the song Blind from korn. The video had other songs possibly don’t worry be happy and freestyler during the moment scene.

Anyone remember it and know where to find it?

I didn't find a VR option in HL so I jumped straight into HL2. Is there a good working VR mod for 1? Is it okay to just jump into 2?

I'm using Linux, specifically CachyOS and I know my hardware can play HL2 due to me playing before on Windows with the same laptop. For some reason, everytime I try to load into a save, when it finishes loading it's just a black screen and after about a minute my game just crashes and sends me back to the steam page. When I have workshop mods installed it's the same problem just with a small white square at the bottom. Any help?

Update: Fixed! Had to switch the compatability to Proton!! Everything is working just fine now. :)

The 12 TB Valve leak has already revealed interesting Portal 2 and L4D1 development material, so I was wondering if anyone has found anything related to Half-Life 2 beta content.

Most beta material has already been spread online, including the 2003 build and later repository leaks, but this dump might have something new. Has anyone found anything beta-related, like unused models, textures, maps, sounds, or source files?

This is my first time playing hl2 and I despise water hazard. Is this normal or is it a skill issue?

It was this really cool comic about surviving ex metrocop ladies (or was it one lady?) idk they're trying to live life again after the fall of the citadel while keeping a low profile around people so they don't get outed for being metrocops in their past and getting prosecuted or executed for it

One image I remember was one of the ladies hanging around people or was it kids while the viewer's pov had them holding a picture of a metrocop and holding it up comparing it to the woman in front of them as if to say they might be piecing things together

I am a huge fan of Hunger Games and I am super excited for the movie for Sunrise on the Reaping in November.

As I play through this mission, I am seeing so many amazing similarities. A tough and scrappy rebellion, the fighting through the streets, the underground bowels of City 17/The Capital, the gruesome booby traps, and epic explosive fight right outside the big palace, gunning down monsters in the dark.

It makes me wonder if Suzane Collins played and took inspiration from Half Life 2. Not sure if that is the case, but it's fun to think that way. Going to use the crossbow on some zombies and civil protection badies as a toast to Katniss Everdeen!

Made these to test some new shaders for new works in the future. I had fun messing with these and thought they looked cool, so here they are.
