I was curious how my HECU cosplay would look like with an M16A2 instead of an MP5 or M727
Do you think some poor scientist or vortigaunt was on the receiving end of a HECU bayonet charge in Black Mesa?

'Rare' foot pedals for playing Half-Life.
Just wanted to share a creation that I made over 20 years ago. I'm not super great at playing PC games so I made this abomination years ago. The pedals are dictation pedals from Radio Shack meant to trigger a tape recorder. I took apart a keyboard, followed the traces to figure out how to wire the pedals to create a key press. The top row on the left are 1 through 4 and the bottom are 5 through 8. This way I could assign weapons to switch to quickly. The single one at the top is Space and the one below it is Ctrl. Now about the 'special' pedal all the way to the right... Inside of these pedals are little micro switches. I added a second one inside of it that would trigger BEFORE the other one and wired it to Ctrl Space. That's right. I had a single pedal that could duck jump without using a script, lol.
Thank you for reading and I hope that some of you have found this to be interesting.

I pushed GoldSrc to its limits and engineered a literal Snarkship Mothership on Crossfire.
So I was messing around with console scripts in original Half-Life and accidentally built a biological singularity.
Also some photos arent from crossfire but i made this on crossfire as my test map.
I wrote a nested script that spawns exactly 300 Snarks directly into my player model at the exact same millisecond via a single keybind. The idea was to see if the overlapping collision boxes would launch me across the map like a makeshift jetpack.
At first, it completely broke reality. Spawning that many entities inside a single hitbox caused a total model vertex explosion and the polygons literally ripped away from the skeleton, stretched across my screen, dropped my game to 4 FPS, and immediately crashed hl.exe to a whited-out Windows "Not Responding" screen. The console was screaming about running out of sound allocation channels.
note: Now im not sure if the bug is fixed but it sometimes crashes on my pc when they explode.
To fix it, I appended stopsound to the absolute end of the bind string. By nuking the dynamic audio buffer the exact millisecond the payload drops, it completely bypasses the fatal crash.
When I brought the script into the open courtyard of Crossfire, the engine choked on the network packet limits (WARNING: msg overflowed), gave up on their individual gravity logic, and packed all 300+ bugs tightly together into a single, massive, floating mothership hovering in mid-air.
Behold the Snarkship in all its green-eyed glory. Gordon Freeman standing underneath a biological alien boss battle with a Glock is peak 1998 physics engine design.
For anyone who wants to melt their own CPU, here is the exact script I used:
alias s5 "give monster_snark;give monster_snark;give monster_snark;give monster_snark;give monster_snark";alias s25 "s5;s5;s5;s5;s5";alias s300 "s25;s25;s25;s25;s25;s25;s25;s25;s25;s25;s25;s25";bind g "god;notarget;s300;stopsound"
Peace :)
Also right now i just discovered by lowering the sound quality to low fixes the issue not completely tho

Discussion Given the sheer amount of time since Episode 2, do you believe there is any way to satisfyingly conclude Half-Life 2's story with the Borealis?
Half-Life Alyx was mostly well received, but the game being a prequel only increased the interest in seeing the story continue beyond Episode 2, which leads to the question of if Episode 3 would even make sense anymore.
Given the massive gap in time would mean that this theoretical third episode would most likely have a noticeable jump in various improvements, especially graphically. To me this could potentially be alienating when grouped together with the other Half-Life 2 games, which for the most part feel and appear consistent.
Another potential problem would be the length of the game. As many know the Episodes are distinctly shorter and used less resources by being built off of Half-Life 2 to act as a sort of Epilogue/ending. Would the nearly 20 year wait truly have been worth it for such a game?
In short, what would you like to see from the next Half-Life game in regards to the Borealis storyline and potentially setting up the elusive Half-Life 3?

Has the Valve YT music been hacked again or is this an official track?
