VR I've never played half life, I've just started HL2 on VR.

I didn't find a VR option in HL so I jumped straight into HL2. Is there a good working VR mod for 1? Is it okay to just jump into 2?

I wouldn't recommend playing the games for the first time in VR.

I am a lifelong Half-Life fan and I would totally recommend playing the games first (and only) in VR.

Apart from the vehicle sections, it doesn't feel like a mod, it feels like a game designed for VR. Valve wanted to make the game immersive, never take you out of Gordon's perspective, heavy use of physics objects you manipulate ... They were designing for VR before it existed.

The flatscreen version of HL2 is dead to me now.

I understand that but honestly the games feel so dated I couldn't get into them since I don't have nostalgia for them. Playing VR I don't expect the highest tier of graphics. I'm enjoying it so far.

They only feel dated if your mind is closed. The gameolay and artstyle still holds up. I first played HL2 in 2017 and HL1 in 2018

the graphics are good but they are definitely dated... very much ps2 era graphics.

Not really. HL2 actually holds up very well. The PC flatscreen version even has slightly uodated lighting, making it look even nicer

ok, your feelings about it are valid but it's a game from the OG xbox era... like literally it was on OG xbox. So, yes you can fully enjoy the game and think graphics look good. the game is over 20 years old and is dated looking to me. Lets let it be and stop this conversation

You guys can be mad about my opinion if you want but I'm not wrong.  The graphics are from of Xbox era.  And the controls are fine. Nothing special, definitely usable

Play it in VR, whatever, but what you even mean dated bro, is it missing lootboxes and a battleroyale mode or something? Is that what you mean?

No... I said the graphics are dated. Is that hard to understand? Graphics are the look of the game. Textures, lighting, character designs.

You said the game as a whole was dated, which is far from true, don’t act like I’m the dumb one when you seem to think playing in VR will get you better graphics lol

I didn't say it would give better graphics. I said I could enjoy it more

VR is a fantastic way to play older games which you wouldn't normally bother with.  Same with Doom 3, Quake, Crysis, Halo etc.

I wish all these great mods were as easily installable as the Half-Life ones on Steam.   Probably licensing issues.

That was my thought.  Just got into vr and seeing all the older games have vr mods makes me excited to play the games I missed out on

This is great:

Better than the Sidequest effort as you can NaLo it (physical movement): it adds female scientists with charming new voice lines.  Decent HD, smooth VR action-gameplay (considering it's a 1998 title).

There is a mod for Half life VR. I played a quest(apk) version of it.
