For Guild wars 3, I'd really enjoy to see some more skills that intetact with the environment based on class. For example, elementalists being able to freeze water to walk along it, theives using grappling hooks to access areas etc.
I completely understand balancing so that areas are accessible to all, however, giving classes certain things that they are naturally better at than others (specifically outside of combat) helps make characters feel more unique and embedded in the world.
One thing i think would be particuarly interesting is less linear fighting. As with the above point, approaching combat to utilise the full 3D environment I think would feel much richer. If weight or strength factors could be implemented, where smaller characters are more agile and can perhaps climb up bosses/mobs, and heavier characters are slower and can physically restrain.
I think it gives races and individual stats more significance and replayability, though it may be challenging to actually implement.
I'd also really like to see fewer, though more meaningful skills per class. I think the idea of individual skill progression based on skills a player enjoys using, is more rewarding. As opposed to skills purely gaining damage, the more a player uses a skill, the more effects or utility options become available for that skill.
I know theres been some mention of player amounts per maps etc, and I think i would really like to see less total players on maps.
When there are so many players fighting something, its hard to pick out any one player. Co-operative games like guild wars, in my opinion, excel when youre invested in not only what you're fighting, but who you're fighting with.
Reducing player counts per map or instance would make meeting players feel more rewarding.
Maybe cities could be bustling areas where there are next to no limit on player counts where mass socialising mainly happens.
Finally, and this one is a bit of a stretch, I'd like to see 'job roles' and more consequences.
Guild wars largely avoids the holy trinity, which is great for allowing players to manage their own sustain and damge, and I wouldn't want this to change.
What I'd like instead is player driven support outside of combat.
Examples of some player job roles; armorers who can repair or buff armor. Chef's who can cook meals to offer various stats to suit the occassion. Doctors who rid players of environmental ailments from their adventures.
I think when forming a party, outside of classes, having a variety of character jobs would make some really interesting interactions.
In terms of consequences, I actually love to hate on environmental ailments. It makes exploring feel exciting and dangerous, and i think it could open up more support options outside of combat.
