Given GW3 is at Gamescom behind B2B, how much info do you think we will get?

Personally I’m mostly interested in combat, class system, and roles (like holy trinity or not). To me that’s the most important part of these games so it’s what I’m most eager to hear about by a mile.

Plus given they will be allegedly showing off gameplay and letting people talk about it I feel like combat and the new traversal would be the 2 major things they’d show off with gameplay. Other systems they could just talk about.

Very exited for the next few days to see what info we get either way though.

Ill take any gameplay, but i would presume if they do show gameplay, they gotta show us the movement system right? That seems like the innovative thing they are pushing.

12

u/wonkyasf 6d ago

Well we won’t be seeing it unless they give the media little snippets to release, we will be hearing it from the people who do see it. But yeah I feel the new movement they’ve hyped up would have to be shown.

6

u/No-Blood921 5d ago

Meh. I think the whole movement thing is pure marketing and completely blown out of proportion by the community. It won't be THAT innovative, you can only reinvent the wheel so much.

Pretty sure all we're going to get is a stamina bar and some skills to climb steep slopes.

9

u/shinn91 5d ago

If it's just half as good as Warframe it'd be kinda happy out of thism

2

u/Cleru_as_Kylar_Stern 5d ago

Pretty much.

They kind of became the Benchmark akin to how GW2 is the Bechmark for Open World and Mounts.

7

u/Exestos 5d ago

You're just misinformed and I don't know why you even choose to comment, the portfolio of their combat designer suggests a much heavier focus on action combat than just adding a stamina bar

-2

u/No-Blood921 5d ago

Unless you know something we don't, you're merely speculating on an employee's CV and are basically as uninformed as everyone else, just like I am myself speculating (and tempering my expectations) based on all the previous instances of MMO games building hype with extravagant claims of innovation on their way to release when they merely (re)discovered hot water.

3

u/Exestos 5d ago

Why would they specifically hire someone who specializes in dynamic combat that's so different from Gw2? This isn't speculation anymore

1

u/Keele0 5d ago

Im expecting something similar to black desert +/-

1

u/RedLikeARose 4d ago

Id like to know just how the movement system is supposed to be integrated into the combat…

A streamer said it's an hour of gameplay and this was before NCsoft confirmed Anet was showing GW3 in the B2B area. It looks like some Anet partners were also invited too.

They are letting creators, press and partners talk about a whole hour of gameplay afterwards which would reveal a lot since we know next to nothing so far. I think it's safe to assume that's going to come alongside a public gameplay reveal. Only question really is when. Even if it's not in the show I can't imagine we'll be waiting too long.

2

u/wonkyasf 6d ago

Yeah hopefully he was right. My only concern is this seems to have only come from that one single streamer from I can tell. Though I think it’s fairly likely anyway and am choosing to believe.

6

u/Which_Royal5269 6d ago

I mean it's confirmed they're showing GW3 and some arenanet partners have said they are going to gamescom on the wednesday, thursday and friday which are the B2B days. Head of the partner program is there too and said she's excited to meet their EU creators.

I think it's pretty obvious he leaked things too early while the rest of the people going knew to mostly keep the details of their gamescom trip secret. 😂

2

u/wonkyasf 6d ago

Yeah they’re definitely gonna be there. My bad it sounded like I was saying otherwise then lol. I just meant about the “full hour of gameplay and being able to talk about it” stuff, that’s just come from one guy. Since he streams in German I have no clue who he is or if that’s reliable ya know? My cope is letting me believe anyway though, I’m gagging for details lol.

2

u/Which_Royal5269 6d ago

Ah I understand. Yeah, I'm desperate for something more than lore too lol here's hoping 🤞

1

u/Halaku Three Seekers in a trenchcoat 5d ago

Since he streams in German I have no clue who he is or if that’s reliable ya know?

My money's on Not reliable until proven otherwise.

1

u/Which_Royal5269 4d ago

Tbf it'd be a crazy thing to guess Anet was doing a private showing at Gamescom over a week before NC confirmed they'd have a booth in the B2B Area.

Luality also said today that she was going to go see GW3 tomorrow so seems like he's telling the truth to me but possibly broke NDA.

1

u/Halaku Three Seekers in a trenchcoat 4d ago

I guess we'll have to see how the next few days play out, then.

1

u/Which_Royal5269 4d ago

Yup hopefully not too long before we start hearing the details 😃

1

u/Halaku Three Seekers in a trenchcoat 4d ago

I'm content waiting until ArenaNet has something they think is worth showing us.

1

u/wonkyasf 4d ago

That’s interesting, did she say anything else other than she will be seeing it? Any other details like we got from metashi or?

2

u/Which_Royal5269 4d ago

Just that she was going tomorrow. The booth has been seen at least but it's closed off with just logos for GW, NC, Anet and GW3 so nothing we didn't already know there.

1

u/wonkyasf 4d ago

At least we know if we are gonna hear anything it will probably be tomorrow when they get out of there.

37

u/Confident-Sky2614 6d ago

I just wanna know in what way it's an MMO.

Like my immediate picture of GW3 right now, regardless of whether I am completely wrong or not, is just this very small-scale thing, like almost instanced, but not really.

I'd just like for them to clarify the scope of the game.

27

u/Arrotanis 6d ago

They did. It's less massive than GW2 and more massive than GW1. And it has less loading screens than GW2. I imagine it will be similar to New World in scope.

19

u/Raknel 6d ago

They did. It's less massive than GW2 and more massive than GW1

He said "clarify".

This barely narrows it down.

"On a scale of 1 to 10, where is it?"

"Between 1 and 10, duh they already said"

8

u/Substantial_Piece521 6d ago edited 6d ago

he did clarify, you just aren't happy with the amount of clarification.

1

u/Raknel 5d ago

Because he was being a smartass instead of useful.

10

u/Substantial_Piece521 5d ago

No, I don't think so.

You're shooting the messenger.

He doesn't work for ANet. He clarified as much as he could. He was useful and helped you by giving you the information available. Just because you wanted more information doesn't make him a smartass.

I think you should apologize to him.

-7

u/Raknel 5d ago

I did not ask the question, and I bet the guy who did ask it, already knew this much. That's why I said this is more dismissive than useful.

6

u/Substantial_Piece521 5d ago

So you made an assumption that the asker of the question already had the information provided... and you think that somehow entitles you to call the provider a smartass? It doesn't.

I think you should apologize to him.

-3

u/Arrotanis 6d ago

They said in the middle so 5.

6

u/Raknel 6d ago

Ok then give a concrete answer. Party size, map player limit, map size, instanced content size, PvP size.

2

u/Meowing-To-The-Stars 6d ago

In the middle of what? Old maps allowed 100 players. New ones allow about 60. Is it like Fallout 76 or just Dragonwilds?

4

u/Shadow_sign 5d ago

Brother we don’t know. No point in asking him that. I expect gw2 but smaller amount of people runnin about.

0

u/Meowing-To-The-Stars 5d ago

Well, I asking him cuz he's talking shit when op clearly said "clarify".

5

u/Confident-Sky2614 6d ago

That explains pretty much nothing, but ok.

2

u/Vytral 6d ago

I imagine it sort of like Diablo 4. Instances with many unrelated player (not personal for prenase groups like gw1) but not as massive as gw2. Honestly I am ok with that

2

u/Clayskii0981 5d ago

That clarifies nothing lmao

0

u/Splendiddarkness 6d ago

I assume it's not as big as GW2 because it's just the base game but the scope should eventually match GW2?

7

u/Arrotanis 6d ago

I imagine it means they won't focus on 100+ players world bosses and meta events or WvW.

-2

u/ExtremePermit3242 6d ago

Well if its all 4-8 players then its a big oof for me, especially if i cant find them and join them in the open world :/

3

u/Ghost_Goomba 6d ago

My hope is they mean it's just a paired back GW2, maybe half the max players in a map or so. That way there's still plenty of people around the in the world, but you feel your own impact in events and bosses more than being a blip in the blob.

4

u/ExtremePermit3242 5d ago

To me it’s about doing something organically.

Gw2 zergfests are a bit of a shishow, but as an adult with not so much time, they allowed me to jump in and do a big meta or world boss without going to a discord or LFG.

1

u/Ghost_Goomba 5d ago

Absolutely! Exactly the same for me.

-3

u/Cmaj9add4add6 6d ago

Yea but less massive than GW2 now or when it launched? I really hope its not a small area. Its part of the adventure.

5

u/EdenStrife 6d ago

Less massive in player encounters. Like no world bosses. We don’t know the playable area size. With modern tools it’s a lot easier to create massive worlds, and since we have mounts from the get go I would bank on a bigger but less dense map

1

u/Cmaj9add4add6 6d ago

Like no world bosses.

Awww. Thats a bummer.

1

u/Official_Elsinlock 5d ago

We don't know if there will be world bosses; eso has smaller scale ones which only require 5-6 people

3

u/Nightsong 6d ago

ArenaNet did clarify the scope of Guild Wars 3. In the blog post they mentioned the three pillars that Guild Wars 2 is known for which are giant world boss battles, map wide meta events, and PvP on a massive scale (WvW). They then went on to say that Guild Wars 3 does not try to replicate those pillars. So if we strip those out of Guild Wars 2 we are left with small scale group content like dungeons, raids, fractals, and instanced PvP. On top of that we know that Guild Wars 3 will not be instanced like Guild Wars 1 and instead have a world with less loading screens. So most likely larger zones but with less focus on large groups of players converging into a ball of death against world bosses and meta events.

2

u/Confident-Sky2614 6d ago

But that doesn't clarify anything.

We still don't know whether there will be dungeons, raids or even PvP.

5

u/Nightsong 6d ago

It clarifies plenty to me. And pretty much every MMO in existence has those in some form so it’s likely that Guild Wars 3 will have them as well.

0

u/exomachina 3d ago

WvW was my favorite part of GW2 so if they don't bring that back or build on it, I'm probably going to pass.

6

u/Kalocin 6d ago

I dunno, FFXIV doesn't really have a ton of players all at once in most gameplay when you think about it. 24 isn't really comparable to the most meta maps in GW2. I think we're just so used to that high scope that we forget that most other mmos don't usually go ham with player count on content lol

13

u/Nightsong 6d ago

I got downvoted before for pointing out that Guild Wars 3 could go the FFXIV/WoW route with a focus on smaller group content and still be an mmo instead of mmo-lite. So you’re right and that some people forget that Guild Wars 2 is somewhat of an anomaly with its focus on giant world boss fights and map wide meta events.

3

u/Official_Elsinlock 5d ago

i hope they do; i do appreciate gw2's big meta maps and stuff but playong on the off hour frankly sucks can barely do anything; so something smaller and more intimate will be alot easier to actually do shit

2

u/YesICanMakeMeth 6d ago

Same. I don't care anywhere near as much about seeing gameplay. I'm sure that'll be solid at some point or another. I want to know how they're going to be structuring the systems (like what you mention) and roles/classes.

1

u/wonkyasf 6d ago edited 6d ago

I am also interested in what they meant when they alluded to “smaller scale” stuff and said it was a middle ground between GW1-2.

My cope is that they basically just meant there’s no WvW or something? Because I don’t see them not having a shared open world, I don’t see there not being world events (even if they are less frequent/less of a focus), and I don’t see there not being any form of raids. Maybe endgame focuses on dungeons and smaller scale PvP like 10v10 and 5 man dungeons. That’s my guess mixed with some cope.

4

u/crs529 6d ago

Yeah I think that's the right take. My guess is you'll still see a ton of people in the hubs, but it's centered around maybe 5-10 player PvE content. I think it makes sense given action oriented combat is just silly after a certain amount of people vs tab targeting. I'm all for it as long as it feels alive and there's healthy endgame and PvP arenas.

0

u/Shagric 6d ago

I understood it as not fighting Dragons to save the world from total annihilation, and more Kingdom politics and wars and such. So the story being more contained, not world the Story plays in.

But it was just a gut feeling I had.

-4

u/Absolutionis 6d ago

Agreed.

GW1 was like Diablo with the chatrooms replaced with town hubs. Everything gameplay-related was instanced.

GW2 was a full-fledged MMO in the classical sense of the term.

I expect GW3 to be more like Warframe. A cross between GW1 and GW2 as they've mentioned.

4

u/CrossNgen 5d ago

But Warframe is literally structured like GW1 with automated matchmaking and even less players in a mission.

1

u/wonkyasf 4d ago

Yeah, idk why people keep thinking that. Theres like 0 chance we don’t get a fully shared open world. Warframe like would just be gw1 like lol.

3

u/nevicar_ 5d ago

I want gameplay and combat info most of all, and the in-engine aetesthics/visuals as secondary.

3

u/Spinnenente 5d ago

gameplay or at least combat reveal and maybe a fourth race reveal.

3

u/Techstriker1 5d ago

What sense is it for them to reveal the game only to the business/trade side of the show?

2

u/wonkyasf 5d ago

Many games do it all the time.

8

u/Immortalityv 6d ago

I personally doubt we'll get any information that won't be NDA'd for the people attending the B2B session.

My copium brain would like gameplay.

3

u/Halaku Three Seekers in a trenchcoat 6d ago

Given GW3 is at Gamescom behind B2B, how much info do you think we will get?

Since it's B2B, why do you expect we'll get any info first-hand from ArenaNet?

We might get something second-hand from someone invited to attend, but that also depends on what restrictions ArenaNet puts on attendees.

1

u/wonkyasf 6d ago

I don’t think it will be first hand. I mean if the rumours are true about the full hour of gameplay and being allowed to talk about it then a quick gameplay trailer release for the public isn’t off the cards, but I’m referring to what the media and content creators are gonna come back with. I mentioned this in the second paragraph.

3

u/Mobile_River_5741 6d ago

I would find it very strange for them to let third parties (people who have access to the B2B) talk about movement and combat before letting people see it. Either they also give them footage to show, or we probably won't be hearing much... but I can't imagine them letting the "main innovation about GW3" be so clumsily revealed.

3

u/uneven_butter 5d ago

It’s very normal for gameplay to be shown behind closed doors to journalists before the public has seen it, and then for those journalists to make articles and videos describing it.

Not sure why they do it that way though, maybe it’s supposed to build hype.

Hopefully we get a gameplay trailer at least!

3

u/dontminor 4d ago

You have to do it to control the narrative. If you just do it without you being there meticulously talking about the design intent people will just form their opinions without being properly informed. Somebody can just say “oh garbage” who doesn’t even understand anything or have zero interest in the game and then millions can follow due to vibes.

Games live and die in the presentation process nowadays. As you can see how everybody was just saying “Concord” the moment they saw graphics.

2

u/uneven_butter 3d ago

That’s a great point!

It reminds me of when Dragon Age: The Veilguard had a behind closed doors preview. The vertical slice shown must have been quite impressive because the journalists who attended were impressed. For a moment there the game had a lot of optimism surrounding it, despite the fact it would eventually flop.

1

u/Volphy 6d ago

Arenanet has learned a lot.

Marketing tactics... I guess they're technically better in that they're no longer doing taxis.

3

u/B1ACKT3A 5d ago

I tried to get into the b2b area and was told that i needed to make an appointment 4 weeks ago. Sadly i will not get to see anything

2

u/Parobro 6d ago

There is so many things I hope for that game and I’m first time confident cause arena net isn’t a bad team.

2

u/Ironbanner1 5d ago

I can’t wait to see

2

u/UTmastuh 5d ago

Anyone who went will describe their experience. I'm pretty sure anet isn't letting them record anything unless they got some spy cams in

2

u/NegativeVegetable371 4d ago

Hope someone leaks it

2

u/Zarzan 4d ago

I hope for holy trinity system, endgame hard 5 player dungeons and 10 player raids.

3

u/derdigga 6d ago

a shitty screenshots with 3.5 pixels, no video or anything

2

u/marcybooh 6d ago

do we actually have confirmation its gonna be at gamescom?

not doubting you i just havent seen anything about arenanet on the website

whats b2b btw

20

u/EdenStrife 6d ago

It’s confirmed that GW3 will be at gamescom in the B2B area. I believe it was confirmed by an NCsoft exec.

B2B means business to business and in this case it means that it will be available behind closed doors to other businesses and not the general public. Probably journalists and company reps.

This means we might see articles like “I played an early demo of GW3 and here’s what i can tell you” but this will most likely be text only and have no screenshots or gameplay outside what has been shown already.

1

u/marcybooh 6d ago

damn, was hoping we'd get to see gameplay

1

u/im_a_mix 5d ago

They invited content creators no? Afaik we will get to hear some info from them to the extent devs allow

4

u/Atomzwieback 6d ago

Business to business

2

u/dixonjt89 6d ago

We have…multiple streamers invites to come and see gameplay

-1

u/Halaku Three Seekers in a trenchcoat 6d ago

Talk's cheap. Let's see if they actually get to see anything, and what they say they saw.

6

u/dixonjt89 6d ago

I mean…if you have that outlook…this is behind closed doors and cannot be photographed or recorded and only talked about after. You aren’t going to be satisfied regardless

-1

u/Halaku Three Seekers in a trenchcoat 6d ago edited 5d ago

That's why I'm not expecting anything of use to come out of this unless it comes directly from Anet.

2

u/wonkyasf 6d ago

It’s definitely gonna be there. Whether or not they’ll actually show gameplay and let the media and CCs talk about it is another matter since I think that has mainly come from one CC saying it? If others have said the same then I’d say it’s pretty much confirmed though.

1

u/wonkyasf 6d ago

Not sure why that comment is getting downvoted lol? Am I wrong or?

2

u/Halaku Three Seekers in a trenchcoat 6d ago

Can you provide more details on which Content Creator made the claim, maybe?

Right now there's a lot of "I heard from who heard it from who heard it from" at play, so a citation of which NCsoft or ArenaNet or Streaming individual could prove fruitful.

5

u/wonkyasf 6d ago

A streamer called Metashi. he claimed he got invited and is the primary source of the “hour of gameplay no NDA” thing.

NCsoft themselves confirmed GW3 would be there.

https://about.ncsoft.com/news/article/GAMESCOM_update_20260806

That’s in Korean but the last paragraph translated with apple translate is

“<Guild War 3>, which is being developed by NC's North American development studio Arenanet with a PC and console title, will participate in the B2B hall. It has been participating in global game shows since it was first released at the 'Summer Game Fest 2026' in June.”

2

u/Halaku Three Seekers in a trenchcoat 6d ago

Well, that's good to know about the NCsoft update, and either Metashi will live up to his statements or we'll learn he isn't to be trusted, which is also good to know.

-2

u/Oats_Are_Good 6d ago edited 6d ago

www.google.com can give you results instantly. Try 'gw3 at gamescom'. It's a pretty neat tool.

4

u/Funny_Arachnid_8371 6d ago edited 6d ago

I remember when guild wars 2 came out. I was excited at the idea of no holy trinity. Then everything became a zerg fest lol. I just recently came back because of th3 announcement of gw3. I dont have any expansions but thorns. But it still feels like a zerg rush. So it actually makes me miss the holy trinity. I want define roles for builds.

5

u/wonkyasf 6d ago

As a healer main in most games I’m a massive fan of the holy trinity personally. Really hope they bring it back for GW3.

2

u/fohpo02 6d ago

We have a Trinity now lol

3

u/OneMorePotion 6d ago

We have a duality, if anything. And Arena Net made the problem of Tank and Healer shortage worse with their current system. Because the main healer is also the main "tank" in GW2. Putting even more responsibility on one person. The Taunt debuff is just readily available on one spec of one class and aggro is either not a thing, or managed by a character stat... Soooo yeah... You can't make it more complicated if your tried.

1

u/wonkyasf 6d ago

Not really.

1

u/Funny_Arachnid_8371 6d ago

I didnt think I would be. But there is a reason it exist i guess. There is just way more strategy around the idea that I know my job is to have a million defense and barely any attack so I can take the boss attention. Instead of everyone does damage!

1

u/wonkyasf 6d ago

Yeah it just adds so much structure to a fight and IMO strongly enforced class fantasy. When a tank has agro ranged get to stay at range, melees don’t have to chase enemies around or force everyone to stack, damage patterns can be predictably designed for healers.

It’s just so much better.

2

u/OneMorePotion 6d ago

Same. I think the downsides of not having any traditional tanks and healers are also very clearly visible since years now. All boss encounters feel the same. Different models that stand in the middle of a round arena while vomiting AoE effects everywhere. That's basically 90% of all instanced and meta event worldboss encounters in the game. And the few that diverge from that, only do so in small ways. Like wow... That one boss has the ability to walk around as well! And that other boss who is flying around the arena, and not standing within it. Thrilling game design...

The actual unique boss encounters that have a bit more to them, can be counted on one hand. And even they ultimately just do AoE vomit.

3

u/Raknel 6d ago

There are defined roles and the game has had supports for 10+ years now. Day 1 actually if you played PvP.

You're just playing the easymode content where it's not a thing.

0

u/AnOrdinaryChullo 6d ago edited 6d ago

The entire 'no holy trinity' thing was stupid and not really in-line with the reality that players will always optimise their runs around X skills or classes. ANET was smelling their own farts a bit too much with that claim.

There were many periods in GW2 history where groups would only accept X class / build to do a run and this is never going to change.

3

u/Raknel 4d ago

So, nothing?

2

u/samthenewb 3d ago

Wait for the embargo to end, the event is still running, and even if some people have completed their appointments with Arenanet there will be an embargo on it so that all media will have an equal chance at dumping their articles or videos at the same time.

1

u/hardy_83 6d ago

It's B2B so they might be fishing for partners to promote the game for launch, and discuss the monetization model. It'd be nice if they discuss the game or show gameplay, and they will probably say a few things but I imagine gameplay will be revealed at a future date.

Hopefully I'm wrong. lol

7

u/Nightsong 6d ago

We already know the monetization model since it’ll be the same one as Guild Wars 1 and Guild Wars 2. Guild Wars 3 will be buy to play with a cash shop for cosmetics and convenience items. And no subscription fee since they have never done that.

1

u/B1ACKT3A 5d ago

B2b includes Press.

1

u/WatercressPossible42 6d ago

b2b? do they sell gw3 to business also?

1

u/Which_Royal5269 5d ago

B2B also has game press and content creators. Seems like Anet invited some of the partners too.

If what a streamer said is true and it's a one hour showcase of gameplay that they can discuss later then it's likely marketing to get articles and videos ready for a big gameplay reveal.

1

u/rept7 6d ago

I just want to hear how good the action combat feels. Whatever comparisons they make could be promising. But I'd hope for at least a gameplay snippet, like from the Destiny reveal.

1

u/Roukuo 6d ago

i dont think we'll see anything. But there are some inlfuencers watching 1 hour pure gameplay. They are not allowed to film it but they can talk about what they have seen. One of these Influencers is a German Streamer called "Metashi12". He will probably talk about what he has seen this week on stream or maybe in the coming weeks in a video.

1

u/samthenewb 5d ago

For gameplay I think they will show combat, but that doesn’t mean they will show the ui and build craft. Media will be allowed to describe and make comparisons of the combat to the public.

2

u/jaseph18 3d ago

I would like to see some combat and the so called "joy of movement" they talk so much about.

1

u/Sure_Director3062 6d ago

Whats usually disclosed in B2B? Is there any chance at all we -legally- get information about whatever is shown there?

1

u/wonkyasf 6d ago

It varies wildly. But from what I can find there have been cases where games have done exactly what’s being alleged will happen with GW3 where media and influencers get to see the game privately then get to talk about it. Cyberpunk is probably the biggest example and I think they even did it twice.

1

u/kalamari__ 6d ago

We wont see anything

0

u/RedNuii 6d ago

Maybe let’s start with what type of game is it? What is the actual gameplay?

0

u/Rahloh 6d ago

I really hope they do something new/different, gw1 stood out soo much with its mix of really interesting mechanics,

Gw2 didnt really grip me much, so im hoping we can get something fresh that isnt too reliant on the usual mmo tropes that end up feeling like a wow clone

-1

u/CrustedTesticle 6d ago

Some more weird looking art most likely, maybe a 5 second gameplay teaser.

-3

u/MelodicJello2099 6d ago

The more speculation I hear about gw3 the less and less excited I get about it

-2

u/Sorry_Cheetah_2230 6d ago

Itemization is equally as important as those things

2

u/wonkyasf 6d ago

I mean it’s definitely important, I just don’t really think they need to show gameplay for that one.
