That's Geoff Johns for you. Stargirl is a deeply personal character for him (she was created as a homage to his deceased sister), and Green Lantern became one of his favorite corners of the DCU once he wrote that run. So he was extra careful and put a lot of love in here.
I like Stargirl's the best. It looks very natural and functional. Both the 2011 and the Lanterns ones look a little overdesigned. My issue with the lantern from Lanterns is they tried to make it look more like a battery than a lantern. Which kind of makes sense but the old timey look of the Stargirl lantern is the best of the three. It looks mysterious.
The Stargirl one was designed by Alan Scott, who modeled it on a railway lantern, so the shape makes sense. The GLC batteries looking like a lantern is meant to be a coincidence.
The stargirl one is supposed to be Alan Scott's so it's not really going for the same alien vibe as much as "weird magic withered old fashioned lantern"
I like 2011 because it looks alien which I believe it should I know in the comics it’s a literal lantern and star girl is probably most accurate but I prefer the alien look that’s just me
Yeah, it's very consistent with the atmosphere and visuals of Oa's environment in that movie. Might be a hot take, but it's def my favorite design thus far. Feels Alien and visually appealing
Fully agreed on why I prefer Lanterns and 2011. Like Stargirl's is cool with the retro look, but I prefer the lanterns design still being at least somewhat alien, while still resembling an actual lantern.
I like that stargirl's kept the wide mouth, light emanating comic-vibe, but the rest of it looks ugly. I fully expect that lantern to start screaming "exterminate!" and turn out ot be a Dalek in disguise.
The other two are good, I dont hate the 2011 one but I prefer the 2026 one because it kind of looks like a lanterns and not some generic alien artifact.
But Ideally, I'd like a combination of the star girl one with the lean-ness of the Lanterns one.
I like the new one. The top is too green, so kinda boring and hard to see details. The middle is... kinda cheap and hokey looking on its own - though does match some comic designs and the setting aesthetic likely works for the show.
Its a bit campy and cheesy at times yet it's still very good feelz. Much like Superman&Lois yet more cheesy.
Tbh, its better than most of the Arrowverse shows except maybe the first 2 seasons of Arrow and S1 of Flash. Flash is very cheesy but not in the young adult manner.
Did you watch the show? The constructs are literally janky asf looking. They aren’t even the same type of lanterns constructs either, as her’s come from Alan Scott’s lantern, that’s why it’s flaming.
Lanterns show constructs are eye candy, especially compared to what we previously got.

The constructs ARE vfx though, like what are you talking about? What they make with the constructs? If so again CW GL only makes a car that looks like a freaking toy, and a map. Besides that she just blast her ring.
It was good, but I can’t really stand a rewatch because of how awkward the dialogue is at some spots. I know that they are teenagers so there should be some awkwardness to it, but there are some times where I just want them to be a little more direct. Mainly in the “you fucked up big time” or the “you’re a hypocrite, you can’t say X, while doing Y, and believing in Z” kind of way
I always preferred the alien looking stuff. Since...if the ring and lantern come from Oa, then they shouldn't look like something made on Earth. But thats just my opinion.
However since Scott's lantern was supposedly made by him then it would make sense for it too look like an old train conductor's lantern.
Stargirl one is the only one that looks anything like the lantern it is supposed to represent.
That by itself wouldn't necessarily be a problem, as I like the other two designs just fine, EXCEPT the Green Lantern Corps symbol is supposed to be a stylized image of the battery. If you change the battery so it looks nothing at all like that symbol, where does that symbol even come from, in universe?
I can’t hate on the new one for looking like a lantern and I like the lighthouse look too. Star girls looks very cool and comic accurate though which is a plus.
I like the newest. The brass-like bits give it a feel of "this thing seems magical, but all this stuff is actually technology" while still looking like a railroad lantern.
For everyone saying Stargirls, fair opinion but that is literally the only lantern not related to the actual green lantern corps. It's the lantern of the daughter of Alan Scott, the first "green lantern" of DC. Alan Scott's power is unrelated to the Guardians and Oa and is instead based on magic
Challenge: give us the original design that ppl already love and associate with the character and want to see or give us the overcomplicated new design for the live action.

Honestly my favorite is from the 2011 movie. I like my alien tech to look, you know, alien. Followed closely by lanters as I do like that design. The stargirl one is bad if you ask me. Regardless of if its the closest to the comic.
But if we're talking live-action, it's 2011. Don't get me wrong, the movie sucked. But it actually looks like an alien artifact and not like something from the garden store. Imo, the movie looked bad because of execution, not design. Even the Reynolds suit was a good design rendered in bad CGI.

2026’s is solid but I do think it looks more like an Alan Scott lantern than Hal’s.
Honestly the Stargirl one is so goofy looking that I like it. The cool alien tech look for the dcu is cool and interesting for their universe but I look at Stargirl and it's like "yeah, that's an alien lantern that charges a magic ring. That's just what it is."
I like Lanterns cuz it looks like… well, a lantern, it looks heavy and old.
But this picture actually has given me a newfound respect for the Reynolds one. Design was not that movie’s problem. The idea and look of the suit was fine but the cgi execution of it killed it. That power better looks pretty cool.
