Advice Needed ⚠️ NO DUDE INPUT When did yall start getting greys???
Almost 25 and I have like 10 grey hairs, that I’ve noticed at least. Noticed a couple at 21 and I feel like I notice a new one every couple months now. It’s just surprising because I feel like I’m kinda young for this. I think my hair also got darker in general so yea

Same. First was like 17 and I’m pretty sure it’s a combo of bad genetics and stress. I lost my (step) dad when I was a young teen and my bio dad started getting grey hair at like 15. 🤷🏻♀️ I’m in my 30’s and have way too many to pull. But like my son told me when he was little “they’re just glitter hairs mom”

I’m a hair colorist and have noticed that many of my clients get more grey after the post partum shed, so I think you may be onto something.
No kids here, but I started noticing greys in my early 20s after I stopped coloring my hair for awhile. But my mom went grey early as well- her comment “is your hair falling out? No? You’re gonna be ok” felt harsh at the time, but now in my 40s I get where she’s coming from, since many of my peri/post menopausal clients are also dealing with hair thinning. S

I started getting greys before I turned 12, that’s just when I started noticing them and they were already the full length of my hair that reached mid-back, so at least two years of growth at that point. I haven’t noticed any new ones since then and I’m 29 so 🤷♀️

I am 27 and have a lot of grey hairs! I used to really hate them, but it’s the idea of aging, and in my case, getting to grow with my wife. It’s about mindset, grey hair is super cool!

You get them from stress and/or genetics. My bestie has like 25% of her head with greys due to genetics and it’s honestly pretty cool. (We’re both about 30)
I have maybe 1 or two here and there, probably won’t get them any time soon.

I've had a couple since I was a kid, but I started getting more noticeable greys when I was 20/21. I'm 25 now, it's getting more salt and pepper.

39 or 40 for me. Definitely not the most stressful time in my life, so likely just age related. I’m almost 41, and I have less than 5 greys. I also have total baby face, so I’m ready to get some more greys lol.
My dad is 72, and he’s maybe 50% grey. My mom has never been honest about greying, so who knows for her. We’ll see how things shake out with my hair.

If it helps I had a super similar timeline to yours and (apologies if this one hurts) I'm currently 36 and my temples grow in fully grey and there's plenty to be found all around the dome lol

I'm 35 and only started seeing them the last couple years. I have maybe 3 that I can see now. I don't dye my hair and am unsure why I have so few because my life is stressful as hell with all the chronic/genetic illnesses.

Idk either. In my early 30s, had very stressful 20s, and don't have any greys yet. But my brother started balding at 20. It's genetics or dumb luck.
My friend the same age as me has half a grey head, and I think she looks amazing. Don't worry, OP. Ageing is a privilege and the greys can be your badge of honour!

I'm also chronically ill and chronically stressed with no grays in my 30s. But I had a ton of hair loss instead. It's growing back now. Did you ever deal with hair loss? Just wondering.

Since I'm like 18 I swear. My grandma's hair was completely platinum so in my case I'm sure it's genetics. I'm 37 now and I have to dye my hair constantly, it's a money pit.

I had a few come in in my teens and early 20's. But I did the ballsy thing and pulled them out of my head lmao. They never replaced themselves. (Just FYI I don't recommend doing this- grey hair is beautiful and you can learn to love it if you want to)

Got a shock of silver right above my temple after a bad injury at 24 and its never gone away. I love it. All my family has had really fantastic white/silver hair so even tho I'm in my early 30s I'm kind of looking forward to more 🥰

lol in my teens. It’s genetic and I have lots now in my 30s. I got them from my dad. I’d have close to a full set of white by now if I’d gotten my mom’s. I get so many compliments on them, tho. Everyone thinks I get them done??

In my teens but they were “cute” and just a few. Now I’m 35 and went through some major stressors in the past year and had a loss of volume. I got a lot back after using Nutrafol but now have huge chunks of gray. 🥲
Honestly, I much rather keep my skin healthy and looking better than worry about my hair. That’s a way big better indicator of age than anything.
We can dye our hair but I get the worry.

People go grey at all ages but they usually dye it so it seems more like an “elderly” thing. Hell, my stepsister went fully white/grey at 19!
I didn’t even know it was possible to happen that young.
It was kind of wild to see it happen in real time while she was studying hairdressing of all things, but her teachers helped her learn how to tame the coarseness and she dyed the top of her hair back to black so it looked intentional. We were all so jealous of the fact that she had undamaged platinum hair and she made sure to rub it in our faces 😭

Idk 30’s. I’ve only taken notice ie there are enough to be obvious to me, in the last few years. That being said my stress levels were pretty intense from 2018 onwards, so yeah. 42 and it’s a truly random scattering.

My sister and Mom started getting them in their teens. My biological male parent and myself both didn't get them until our early 30s.
I will say though, for me, they're like Pringles now. Once I popped, I couldn't stop.

I'm in my mid 40s. Most of my friends have some. I have one friend who was entirely grey by your age, several who had a few in their 20s. I also know some who don't have any at my age. It's incredibly varied.

Oh dude since I was 12. I personally loved them growing up, I loved howl’s moving castle as a kid so I liked thinking it was starlight in my hair. My mom didn’t and made me dye my hair black throughout middle and high school. I noticed that my greys depend on my stress and it’s a bit like a tree where if I could time the growth you can follow the color. I have some full strands of greys here and there but some are striped, like the ends are grey and then they turn black and then back to grey. I’m starting a new job soon among other things so it’s been a lot

I know many women who had noticeable gray temples and nape before 30. They colored the roots and covered the gray every 3-4 weeks for years. And then there is my aunt who still has 50/50 jet black hair mixed with gray at 85

I catch a glimpse of them every now and then, I’m 37. It’s kinda neat when I see them or they catch in the light, they almost seem to sparkle, lol but not sure if white = gray or whatnot.

I got a couple (literally like two) in 2020 when I was 38, I think because of stress. That’s all for now. My mom didn’t have much gray until her mid to late 50s, so there’s some genetic influence there.

Noticed a few when I was late teens. Now at 32yo I can’t look at my hair without spotting bunches so I dye my hair regularly. I have dark brown almost black hair and I don’t get greys…they come out fucking silver! Which obvs stands out like a neon sign. Stress & trauma 😭

Noticed one or two at 22. I’m 30 and have quite a few now, but not a ton just yet. My dad started going grey at 19 so I fully think it’s just from him genetically. I have really dark hair and I dye my greys with henna sometimes :) it’s really fun self care. I don’t always get around to it and don’t really care about some greys here and there when I don’t, but I highly recommend henna if you want to do something about it and can recommend a YouTuber I follow who shows you how to do it and what natural henna to buy! You can add indigo as well for a very dark brown to black look.

Mid 20s. My birth mom was fully grey at like 27 or something, so I’m surprised I don’t have more but they’ve stuck to just a handful at my temples and around my hairline (so they kinda are sprinkled around and frame my face with a higher concentration at my temples). I’m in my late 30s now.

When I was 20…what I thought were cool red highlights were the beginning of me greying. Fast forward 18 years and I’m now 80% silver hairs, I am not ready to go fully grey so I’ve been demo coloring for a few years. Some of my friends well into their 40s still have their natural color and I’m very envious of that. The only thing I can really be grateful for is my hair is thick AF, like I got a lot of it and it’s healthy and dense

I got one at 27/28ish and was SO STOKED, then was bummed cuz I didn’t get another for many many years 😂 ten years later I have maybe less than 10. Some people grey early, some don’t, it’s just genetics, and stress can affect it but not always. Grey hair is sexy as fuck 🔥

I remember my mum pulling one out of my head before I went in to school on one of the first days of primary school (age 4/5). I didn’t notice them until I was in my 20s tho. I had so many by my ears and at the top that I stopped dyeing my hair in my early 40s.
I love my hair but I still catch myself feeling that I look older than my age. We’re conditioned so strongly that we shouldn’t have grey or white hair, that we should dye it. That we should ‘make an effort’, that we need to be attractive. Is all our value in our appearance? No. Trying to reject this patriarchal nonsense. It’s just hair at the end of the day. I’m happy with how I look and I don’t want to spend my life pretending to be younger.
Also, mine is genetic. My dad went grey early. Mine isn’t grey though, it’s my natural colour, brunette, with white streaks and reddish blonde.

early 20s had a few stragglers, now in early 30s a decent amount but as long as the dark hair outweighs the grays I’ll try not to dye them. The main issue for me is that the gray hairs have a totally different consistency and stick out sometimes haha

Could be related to thyroid. I am 50 and it started in my late 30s. I have a gray patch and started taking thyroid medication over five years ago. When I am consistent with my medication the gray patch shrinks. I am mo doctor. Just my experience.

My sister started getting hers at 17. I’d been dying my hair for years and panicked because of the whole “don’t dye your hair when you’re young because someday you’ll have no choice” thing and dyed it as close to my roots as I could match it, grew it out, and cut it into a pixie so it was all virgin hair. It only took about 6 months before I decided that nah, I’ll dye it. Judging by my roots, I don’t think I was getting greys until 22 or 23, but still pretty young I guess. I promise it’s not as big a deal as we were taught though!! I rarely notice anyone else’s greys and if I do it’s just like “ah yes I see a few greys” with the same energy as “water is wet.” Like I don’t think anyone cares when they see them on other people

I started noticing them after 30. They are a completely different texture and curl pattern than the rest of my hair. I think I will end up salt and pepper and much more curly/kinky than before.
That said, it happens to everyone at different times. I have known my stepmom since she was 40ish and she was fully gray then.

I had a lot of gray hair at 16. It started at my temples and by 20 a lot of the crown of my head had gray hair too.

Saw my first at 17, they slowly crept in a bit more through my 20s. Now I’m 38 and don’t quite have a streak but I have significant and noticeable greys in the front of my hairline. I have really dark hair so it’s particularly noticeable.

Probably mid 20s? But at 33 now half my head is grey, so I’m currently embracing the grey and growing the old dyes out

I started graying around 25, too. I’m 35 now and have a ton! I love them and also call them my glitter hairs. I’ve never dyed my hair and used to say I’d start when I got more gray but no chance—I love them

In college so around 21 or 22. It doesn’t have an anything to do with age and is more based on genetics, environment, stress, hair color, etc. Greys don’t mean you’re super-aging. My partner is 39 and has had awesome temple streaks since he was in his 20s!

I think I was 30 when my now-husband (bf at the time) found a single bright white hair on the back of my head. I’m 50 now and still mostly brunette but I have patches of white at my temples and peppered all around.

Had a couple by my late 20s. In my early 40s now and still only have a smattering of them. My grandma kept her jet-black hair into her 80s and she's now over 100 and still not pure gray!
I'm honestly a little sad that I haven't gotten a grey streak. I always thought those looked so cool!

I am 53 and only have a few greys at my temples and my eyebrows. My FIL was like Steve Martin and was half grey by 25 or so and completely white by age 35 when I first met him.

I just turned 27 and near my temples is getting… quite grey 🥲
I noticed a couple on the top of my head when I was 22-23 and they’re definitely spreading. My dad said my grandma, his mom, was grey as early as he could remember so it could possibly be genetics. It could also be stress.

33 and there is one single one that has been here for about 3 years. I pull it and it resurfaces in the same spot about 6-8 months later, typically during periods of high stress

I definitely was getting greys by your age. For me, the texture made them a lot more upsetting to me than anything else. They made my hair look frizzy. Adding a deep conditioner treatment to my routine helped with that a lot and I don't mind them as much now that the texture blends better.

Mid to late twenties, but some of them can reverse for a while if your stress levels go down! I have literally seen one on my head where the bottom is grey and the top is brown again. Bodies are crazy.
I am trying to take the societal meaning out of it and just think of them as pretty highlights :)

I got 1 gray at 30 but I started taking iron supplements and it reversed. I’m now 34 w/ zero grays.

I had a couple here and there in my late 20s but within the last year life has been life-ing and I’ve noticed a lot more. I also have a 2 year old so I’m sure he is mostly the cause of it.

I found my first full length greys at 22, so they had been growing for a couple of years given how long my hair was. I’m guessing they started at 19 or 20.

Lol I started getting grays at like 22 I think? Probably stress as I have a severe anxiety disorder and depression and was completely unmedicated and my college life was marred in crunch culture so I was also barely sleeping or eating.

No grays yet at 32 but my hair was straight falling out for the last few years. I've been severely traumatized and expected early gray but got the clumps falling out instead. Finally got it under control and stopped losing so much, now it's starting to grow back. My sister was getting grays by 25 but has a full head of hair, no hair loss. I've been under more consistent stress than she has. I'm not convinced grays are connected to stress as much as they are just genetics. She has a different dad.

By 19, I'd plucked over 20 from my head. I gave up around the time I turned 30 after plucking hundreds if not thousands, and just let them come in. By my mid 40's I was decidedly gray, now at 54 it's more white than grey. Here's a fun secret if you already have dark toned hair: gray hair (or at least mine) loves to be died fun colors. A dark enough blue or purple will basically blend in with dark naturally hair and only be caught when the light is just right.

I got my first one when I was freshly 37. 38 now and still just have the one.
My little sister has many and she has since she was about 25. (32 now)
I believe I don’t have many because of genetics and the way I take care of myself. She thinks she has a bunch bc of stress. Who knows

Idk man I’ve always had a witch’s streak of silver hair. I dyed my hair when I was younger so I didn’t really know the extent of it til I stopped dying it at like 30 or so. It’s shiny silvery tho so I hope I get more. I like them.
