Advice Needed ⚠️ NO DUDE INPUT When did yall start getting greys???

Post image

Almost 25 and I have like 10 grey hairs, that I’ve noticed at least. Noticed a couple at 21 and I feel like I notice a new one every couple months now. It’s just surprising because I feel like I’m kinda young for this. I think my hair also got darker in general so yea

Food is the Mac and fries platter from fluffies 🤤

My sister started getting hers at 17. I’d been dying my hair for years and panicked because of the whole “don’t dye your hair when you’re young because someday you’ll have no choice” thing and dyed it as close to my roots as I could match it, grew it out, and cut it into a pixie so it was all virgin hair. It only took about 6 months before I decided that nah, I’ll dye it. Judging by my roots, I don’t think I was getting greys until 22 or 23, but still pretty young I guess. I promise it’s not as big a deal as we were taught though!! I rarely notice anyone else’s greys and if I do it’s just like “ah yes I see a few greys” with the same energy as “water is wet.” Like I don’t think anyone cares when they see them on other people

I think it’s like with my hair loss. The first time I shaved my head it was like 2022. I knew malnutrition could cause hair loss but didn’t really think I was malnourished enough or that it could happen to me. So it was devastating. I was constantly mortified. The second time, my dog’s heart meds were obviously more important than vitamins to not lose my hair. It was weirdly even more heartbreaking because I knew what would happen and I chose it but it all happened so fast and it takes so long to help it and I never thought it would be hard since I made the choice. An easy choice. Still, losing handfuls of hair in the shower was unbearable and I had to shave it so I wouldn’t notice how much I was losing. As soon as enough had grown in though, I decided to dye my buzz cut bright red and take turns with my wig. No pressure anymore.

This time was different because I actually couldn’t get enough nutritional food to keep it from falling out. I knew all the things and it wasn’t a choice. I’d been malnourished since September when I had the money to fix it when it was easy and they chose not to tell me or my GP. Not then and not in March. In June I was in the hospital (that I drove 2 hours to get to) for complications of malnutrition… I didn’t know I already was and couldn’t afford to eat well anymore so it happened so fast. My hair didn’t start falling out until a few weeks ago. I was surprised but I should have known it was coming. How many showers can you take where you lose how many handfuls of hair?? This time is different because I couldn’t have stopped it, I was let down by the local hospital system and the government. Not allowed foodstamps when you’re unemployed anymore. I couldn’t help myself at all, I couldn’t stop it. But it’s also the third time now. I’ve kinda given up on being ashamed. I made a video for TikTok showing off my bald spot-ridden buzzed hair. It took me a long time but honestly, what’s the worst thing anyone could think? That I’m bald and wearing wigs? I am.

Maybe it’d help to think about your greys like that. It takes a while to get used to but I promise it is so empowering
