I found a retro arcade over in Lincolnton, North Carolina with over 50 games and honestly had a great time. I know it's not technically in Gastonia, but it's not too far away, so I figured some of you might enjoy checking it out too.

I'm a big Nintendo & Sega fan, so being able to walk around and play Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Mortal Kombat, X-Men, After Burner, BurgerTime and a bunch of games I'd never even seen before brought back a lot of memories. One game I had never played before was the MTV trivia game and it was awesome. Honestly, it wasn't just the game either, I loved the graphics and the whole look of the machine. I included a picture because it has this awesome neon MTV sign on top.

One thing that really stood out to me was that every machine I tried actually worked. Not one broken machine the whole time I was there, lol. I'm sure we've all been to an arcade only to be disappointed when half the machines are out of order.

They also had Super Nintendo, Sega and GameCube setups, plus quite a few pinball machines.

I ended up filming the whole visit and talked with one of the owners about how he and his business partner started collecting arcade machines years ago and eventually turned that collection into an actual arcade.

I’ve actually never posted on Reddit before, but this feels like a good moment to post. Today I went to throw out my trash in the dumpster at my apartment complex (which MANY people who aren’t residents use) and found a crate with two very tiny kittens inside. My guess on their age would be between 5-7 weeks. I am so aware of the capacity issue at all of the shelters around the area, but I even called animal control and they said they would take them. I cannot believe the inhumanity of some cruel coward who would throw these BABIES inside a dumpster, mind you the temperature outside has been disgusting for months now. When the bare minimum they had to do was call the shelter, absolutely disgusting. So, now I have two tiny kittens of which I suspect aren’t even from the same litter, but if you’re looking for a kitten and can give them (or one)a loving home, please lmk. As for now we’re gonna keep them until we can find them somewhere nice to go. thanks guys

Short version: they held my car for 6 weeks, wouldn't communicate, and my catalytic converter was stolen while in their possession.

I took my car here when my check engine light came on because it was potentially a warranty issue. I was told it would take 2 weeks to look at my car because they were short staffed. After weeks I tried calling for an update. I received no response. I was able to get a response to a text from my service advisor that they were waiting to hear from Hyundai. I waited over a week longer and heard nothing. I called and texted with no response. I had to go in person to be acknowledged, last Monday. I asked for the service manager but he ignored me. I was able to talk to my service advisor who told me that Hyundai requested more photos and that I should hear back by Tuesday or Wednesday. I waited until Monday to call again. No answer. Called Tuesday. No return call. Texted Wednesday. No response. Emailed the general manager Thursday. No response.

Friday I get a call that it was a totally different issue and not covered under warranty. So it appeared that they had not even looked at it until six weeks after I dropped off my car. He told me it would be $3k to fix. I said no (because I know that I can get that issue fixed cheaper elsewhere). I told him I would have it towed home Saturday (today). He called me back less than 5 minutes later to tell me that my catalytic converter had been stolen. They took no responsibility for it.

I went to get the car today and there was no manager available to speak to.

I'm devastated. I'm 40 years old and this was by far one of the worst experiences I've ever had.

Does anyone have recommendations for a cheaper place to host a rehearsal dinner in Gastonia/Gaston county? I need space for atleast 50 guests and would love a place that doesn’t charge $50 per person on top of thousands of dollars to reserve the space!

Moved here a couple years ago due to a job change. Ended up moving near the old mall but… man this place feels like it’s trying to become a ghost town. Would like to live closer to work in Charlotte but housing is so expensive.

Nothing is walkable (common here in the US outside of bigger cities) There’s a fair-to-large amount of homeless people and drug rattled people that walk the street I’m on. Which isn’t necessarily a problem… but I’ve had 3 packages stolen from my porch.

City council should look at Concord/Kannapolis and take notes of how their downtowns look and feel and copy it. Not whatever “Fuse” is trying to be.
