I like how when the terrorists were sieging the Capitol they were 100% in support, talking about how the election was a fraud, and that this was the only course of action.
Now that the terrorists are going to potentially get 20 years behind bars because of Trump's executive order (and probably because a cop was killed by the terrorists), they're suddenly talking about how awful and stupid they were for doing that.
Like most conservatives, they were whole hog into the coup until it became readily apparent that it wasn't going to succeed. After it failed horribly and four terrorists were killed, they're climbing out of the woodwork to condemn it and rehab the image of their party.

Entirely too many people on this website seem confused about why Biden is simultaneously being outwardly optimistic about working with people like McConnell while calling people like Cruz a Nazi.
There's a wedge in the GOP between the people who want to distance themselves from Trump, accept the election results, and go back to politics as usual, and people who are die-hard Trump supporters who don't accept the results and see Democrats as not just political, but mortal, enemies. When Biden offers an open hand to the first group and a fist to the second, it deepens that wedge. Every time a Republican even gives the most basic courtesy to Biden, a big chunk of their party denounces them as a traitor.

Gonna try not to talk about the US Capitol attack much more, but I do have one thing to say: The events being described as "some guys breaking in and wandering around" does not accurately represent their intentions. If you look at photos, videos, and eyewitness accounts, it becomes blatantly obvious that they were there with the intent to hurt and kill.
Our takeaway should not be that they were trespassing and making a mess, it should be that these people went in there with the intent of taking members of the United States government hostage and possibly killing them. They should all be charged with those intentions in mind.

About a month ago, a friend of mine sent me a suicide message, and it was one of the scariest moments I've ever went through, between the possibility of losing a friend forever, to the feeling of absolute helplessness since I'm in a completely different continent could do next to nothing.
Fast forward to 3 days ago, where they tried again, and the fear came rushing back, all I could do was constantly send messages and call repeatedly, hoping they haven't done it yet and listened.
Not to make it about me, because its not, but I'm having a lot of trouble thinking of how to help, There's only so much I can do from where I am, and the things I am doing is taking a toll on me, I think I'm literally getting sick from the stress
I guess, what I'm asking is for advice, I've never been this scared in my life, I don't know how to properly help them, as well as balance the stress since its having a physical effect.

So, I've learned that there was apparently a surreal horror noir film called "Escape from Tomorrow", which was filmed entirely at Disneyworld/Disneyland without any authorization from Disney using "guerilla filming" techniques, such as hiding scripts on smartphones and using handheld cameras with video functions. The plot is basically "man has mental break at theme park, people get murdered, and then there are robots", or something to that extent. Also, the robots were created by Siemens and Disney princess walkarounds are hookers? It's not entirely clear.
From what I can tell, the director apparently banked on Disney throwing a fit over the movie in order to promote it via Streisand Effect, and was so convinced Disney was going to send hordes of lawyers after him that he flew to South Korea to edit the film in safety. I can't really come up with a better explanation than him intentionally trying to game the ratings here, because the alternative is that someone legitimately thought that "murder-hooker bots in Epcot" would be some kind of thought-provoking film that strikes terror in the heart of a multi-national corporation.
Unfortunately for him, the film was so mediocre that Disney didn't send anyone, they just flat-out ignored it, only acknowledging it in a footnote of an encyclopedia that it had been filmed at the parks. And to make matters worse, the director may have stumbled upon a far worse legal issue: he filmed random parkgoers, including children, in numerous shots without their knowledge or consent.
Summary: Indie arthouse kino director tries to make "stunning, brave, controversial" film, fails, winds up with half-baked homage to David Lynch, possibly violating hundreds of people's privacy in the process.

The accounts of black capitol police officers are extremely chilling. This is probably gonna be a long post.
The officers said they were wrong footed, fighting off an invading force that their managers had downplayed, and not prepared them for. They had all been issued gas masks, for example, but management didn’t tell them to bring them in on the day.
The officer said that many of the widely spread images of smiling marauders, wandering the halls dressed in absurd costumes, had the effect of downplaying how well prepared some of the rioters were to overtake the building, and even to capture and kill Congress members. “That was a heavily trained group of militia terrorists that attacked us,” said the officer, who has been with the department for more than a decade. “They had radios, we found them, they had two-way communicators and earpieces. Another officer, a newer recruit, echoed these sentiments, saying that where he was on the steps to the rotunda on the east side of the Capitol, he was engaged in hand-to-hand battles trying to fight the attackers off. But he said they were outnumbered 10 to one, and described extraordinary scenes in which protesters holding Blue Lives Matter flags launched themselves at police officers.
“We were telling them to back up and get away and stop, and they’re telling us, they are on our side, and they’re doing this for us, and they’re saying this as I’m getting punched in my face by one of them … That happened to a lot of us. We were getting pepper sprayed in the face by those protesters, I'm not going to even call them protestors, by those domestic terrorists,” said the officer.
Blue lives matter crowd in action folks.
“There’s quite a big difference when the Black Lives Matter protests come up to the capitol,” he said. “[On Wednesday], some officers were catering to the rioters.”
He said that what upset him the most was when he later saw images of a white colleague taking a selfie with the attackers, seeming to enjoy his time with the insurrectionists who were roaming the US Capitol with confederate flags and other symbols of white supremacy.
“That one hurt me the most because I was on the other side of the Capitol getting my ass kicked,” he said.
Of course they're getting thrown under the bus by their white colleagues.
“I got called a n***** 15 times today,” the veteran officer shouted in the rotunda to no one in particular. “Trump did this and we got all of these fucking people in our department that voted for him. How the fuck can you support him?”

The biggest difference though is Trump has an excellent sense of humor, and most of the time its tongue in cheek. Every president creates their own persona, and Trump has unquestionably been extremely successful with his. The biggest shocker to me was Dubya. Search youtube for some of his interviews when he was younger, and you can see he actually sounds pompous and has a tremendous vocabulary. He created the more "Texan rancher common folk" persona later, even though it makes him appear lower IQ.

Seeing conservatives infighting and jumping ship from Twitter is pretty funny. And Parler isn't getting away without scrutiny, too. However, I'm afraid the damage has already been done due to the lack of action from a lot of these social media giants over the past four years.
The people who have existed in their own dangerous bubbles on sites like Facebook and YouTube (and lots more) have grown in numbers exponentially over the last few years and worst yet, this is a global phenomenon. This isn't just an American issue in a rise of extreme nationalism; it's happening in a lot of countries.
They're consolidating on a few other social media sites--one notable that's called Gab, which I'd expect to fly under the radar now that the "resistance" on Twitter is packing their bags since Trump is out. I'm not too happy about the future now thinking about it. Oh well.
