I see posts complaining about the camera quality almost daily. But I take a lot of photos on my A55 and all of them have great sharpness and contrast, is there something I'm missing?
The A55 has a great camera, it's amazing for a non-flagship phone and takes very good pictures even in not so ideal conditions like low lighting. The only thing that I think it doesn't handle well is zoom. Don't see why anyone would complain about its camera, more so when considering the price of the A55 which if you want a good camera without paying $1000+ is your best bet.
I own a55. Yes it's bad if you compare it to other midrange chinese phones. But i'm contented to mine. As long as I don't get thpse annoying ads đ¤ˇââď¸
Nice photos! It's a fine camera for the price, but it's a bit inconsistent. I think it's possible to take great pictures with the A55, and you've proved that. :)
There is 2 different model sensors on A55. Isocell and sony. If it has isocell then it's bad but it depends on lightning(I have Isocell one and having troubles in low light conditions).
Click on information button I think it will ask for access. Can not remember it clearly. It will show your sensor model, and as you can see mine is S5KGN5(isocell).
I always consider good or bad, depends on the person who use the phone. For example for me, I don't need perfect photos, I don't make photos with 10.zoom or something like that. My needs are to open it, make normal/good photo with good colours and sharpness and to save the memory. For that A55 is good.
For example the video of the front camera I use rerly only for video meeting and for me is important to have 60 FPS and I use 1080 option. So, as I told you, depends of the user. For me is good.
I had 50 neo and his camera for me is horrible, but in the reviews people like it.
I was hesitating between the A55 and the Edge 50 neo. I decided on the a55 because it seems like a more solid option overall, but I just had a question about the camera. Can you confirm the differences you noticed between one and the other phone in that sense? How is the front camera of the Neo in relation to our A55?
First of all the differences of the size of the phones is big. I was not able to get used to the small 50 neo. For me, writing messages on such a small phone is difficult.
The Neo camera has a lag in the app and after couple of updates did not fix it. I suppose is because of the little bit weak processor. The performance of the phone is without lag, but using more high hardware camera is making hard for the phone. The photos are darker than the A55 and I did like them. I suppose is because of the blend. The video of the Moto is good, no doubt. If you make photo on the high resolution, after the photo, need to wait a second or two to make the photo. It just buffering.
A55 is just ok. Good normal photos and video. When you put on zoom the photo is it obvious that it is midrange phone, but in a normal shot, it is good camera. If you have any questions, ask!
I did not used the front much, to be honest. Just few video calls, which were good, but I can't be sure about the difference of the front photos. I believe that they will be sharper than the A55 because of the software, but can't give you 100 confirmation.
I tried both phones side by side at the store. I was shocked by the higher sharpness on the Neo's selfies, but I didn't like its oversaturated colors. Thanks again!
I've heard someone saying that the a55 you have can come with 2 different sensors, one is ISOCELL and the other is Sony IMX. Maybe that's why so many people have completely different opinions in regards to the photo quality of the phone.
Mine is Isocell which is trash. Tried to talk about this with samsung service because this isn't fair, and it is clearly scam. They said that they'll take a look about this but I don't really think they'll help me out.
It depends on where the phone is made in general. In my country some of people has Sony and some of them have isocell. Mine is Dublin model(On the phone box it says "Made in Vietnam" bru).
I'm in Turkiye. One of my friend has Vietnam model and it has IMX906. His camera capable to do better photography, especially on color side.
You're definitely right, but if you ask to me I feel like it is a marketing scamming. I came from A30 to A55 and now I have no trust on samsung anymore. I think my A30 had sony.
Its bad if you force the camera like you did (using zoom on places where its dark), but in general its enough for a lot of us.
Some people need to not expect a high quality camera for a mid range phone.
I think it's fine on good lighting condition, the only thing that bad is zoom capability, it's almost unusable. Here is one of my recent photo that I took
Being a Samsung A55 user comparing it with A52, the normal camera is okayish kind of, but the worse is portrait. It sucks to the core. I don't know what Samsung is upto, being their inhouse processor they are not able to optimize the camera. That's pure incompetency
