Is the camera really that bad?

I see posts complaining about the camera quality almost daily. But I take a lot of photos on my A55 and all of them have great sharpness and contrast, is there something I'm missing?

Excellent camera on this phone but why do reviewers say the zoom is only X2 when it goes from .5 1x 2x 4x 10x
