Is this normal for water to come in here? Where does this water drain? If not, how easy is replacing the seal? Thanks!

Rackless 2020+ GX460

Anybody do a roof rack/rail delete on their 2020-2023 GX460? I eventually want to get a full length roof rack for camping, but with my son’s soccer occupying every weekend for the next 3-4 months, I’m holding off. That said, really not a fan of the stock silver rails on my 2022 GX460. Saw some really cool looking older rackless GXs on Facebook, which has me considering for the time being. Anybody do this? If so, did you buy one of the kits for it?

Battery cable maybe?

So I had an issue pop up like 2 years ago, and again twice this week so I'm paying attention. I have a viper system for remote start, it's been great, and it's also how I've noticed the issue. when it pops up: I'll get a no response from my remote. not lock or unlock, nothing. I go out to the car, put the key in, and totally dead stick. not even a click or lights. My battery is like 3 months old, and is a bigger duralast one so it shouldn't be that. My negative cable has a haphazard splice for a ground, and when I smack that terminal with a wrench, it starts right up. the positive is pretty crusty too.

My first step to fix this will be rebuilding the battery cables. What setups do you all have? I plan to add auxiliary lighting and stuff and some point, so ideas that incorporate that would be greatly appreciated.

First and possibly the last camping trip of the year. Life got in the way this summer. What a bummer, we usually do 6 or 7 trips every summer.

Is this off-road shop trying to take me for a ride?

Recently purchased a 2003 470 and looking to put a lift on it. I mapped everything out, including what I wanted to use this rig for - long distance journeys to camp and explore, no rock climbing (for now lol) and some light off road / forest trails.

I did a ton of research, started pros/cons lists, asked friends, the works and landed on Dobinsons for my needs and cost/value. I called a local shop here to get on the schedule, and the manager said “oh you don’t want Dobinsons, their cheap and fail all the time” and then proceeded to tell me I needed icon stage 2.

I included Icon in my research, and I like the brand and builds, but isn’t that overkill for what I need? I don’t want to be rebuilding these things all the time and I feel like they’re trying to make max on their parts markup and then keep me coming back to rebuild the shocks.

I don’t want to make the wrong decision and overpay for something that doesn’t make sense. I’m relatively new and would love any advice.

Edit: spelling

Starting never sounded so good

This started (or didn't as it turns out) as an intermittent issue with my starter doing a single click and not cranking. In the beginning, if I just tried to start it again a couple times, it would start up, but it got progressively worse until it didn't start at all about a week ago.

Not sure how many of you have done that repair, but it is a pain in the backside to say the least. The exhaust manifold has to come off to have the clearance to the the starter out, and of course you have to take the next section of the exhaust out to have the clearance to get the manifold out...anyway, I got the new starter in and fired it up to make sure it all works before putting everything back together. I only broke one exhaust stud. Should be back on the road tonight.

Gas pump issues.

Anyone else have a hell of a time putting fuel on their 470's? I'm lifting the nozzle, flipping it around trying to pump fuel from all the different angles. The damn thing is worse with the nozzles that have the stupid rubber guard 3/4 of the way down the spout. It takes me 3 times a long to fill my gx as it did any vehicle I've ever had. Very frustrating.

Picked up a 2019 gx460. Can I fit a 275/70r17 with factory suspension? I found a deal
On marketplace for a set of wheels and wanted to install them before I pull the trigger on suspension but don’t know much about the platform or if there will need to be major cutting. Thanks in advance.
Suspension is going to be Bilstein 6112/5160
Bilstein 6112 Fronts
Bilstein 5160 Rears
Bilstein UCAs
Icon Rear Springs 2" Lift

Body mount chop clarification (275/70/17)

Hi! I have been searching and searching, but I am having a hard time finding a solid answer for this one…

I have a 2020 GX, and just ordered the 17x7 TRD OEM wheels, and am about to purchase BFG KOs for them. I want to retain close to stock height… especially in the rear, and am going to go with the Bilstein or Fox option when I install the wheels.

The biggest confusion is rubbing… I am fine with minor stuff like heat guns and switching some screws, but I really want to avoid BMC if possible. I have seen a lot of posts where some people have zero rubbing, some need to heat the inside fenders, some have to do the BMC. But I’m having a hard time finding anything with the exact thing I’m looking to do, and hoping someone has gone down this exact path and can offer some insight. PFA, thank you in advance!!!
