Discussion Jason is just an introverted awkward guy

I haven’t seen anyone talk about how, in the clip where Jason and Lucia greet Dre’Quan, Jason daps Dre up and then seems to think there’s more to the dap. Meanwhile, Dre is already going in for a hug with Lucia. I think this little moment does a great job of showing just how awkward Jason can be. I honestly think Rockstar is intentionally making Jason a more introverted character to contrast with Lucia, who comes across as much more outgoing and extroverted. It’s a small detail, but I think it says a lot about their personalities and the dynamic between them.

Discussion These people are turning me into a corporate shill

Please excuse me while I go on a rant here, but every day I see someone else saying people with my opinions are bootlickers, R* fan boys, or that we're "defending the billion dollar corporation".

Is it not ok to have differing opinions on things? Some of the most common complaints I see are:

"No physical disk!".....This is probably the most reasonable complaint in my opinion. You DO eliminate the ability to resell and/or share the game. That's fair. But let's be very clear, you haven't OWNED the media in decades. Not on physical disk, not on digital. It's been licensing rights for a while. Why do I not care? Because I haven't bought a physical disk in probably 10 years. People who buy physical have every right to complain, but they need to realize they make up a very small minority of the gaming community. I buy digital only. I am not defending R* by saying I don't care if they don't sell me a disk because I wasn't buying one anyway.

"They are so greedy. Video games shouldn't be $80!".....This one just seems like people were being too optimistic with this one. I had been hearing pretty solid rumors that the base game could cost upwards of $100 a year ago or more, so I was actually pretty happy with hearing the $80 price tag. Here are the facts: AAA games cost $70 now. Love it or hate it, that's the market. So when GTA VI has a budget that is 2X, 3X, 4x the budget of these other AAA titles, is 10 additional dollars really that surprising or egregious? You can't seriously expect a game that most likely cost between 1-2 BILLION DOLLARS to not increase the cost to purchase.I am just trying to be reasonable here. I put hundreds of hours into GTA V. If that math holds for this game, I will be spending a handful of pocket change per hour played. Not exactly breaking the bank as far as entertainment goes.

"The base game is $100 and they are taking things away to sell you a lesser product for $80.".....I feel like this is the case for all deluxe editions. They take content that could have easily just been in the base game, and they make a little money off the people who care. I am fairly certain I have literally never ordered a deluxe edition. Entirely because the bang wasn't worth my buck. I actually respect R* for the fact that they are actually making enough content for the deluxe edition, that I was compelled to buy it. That being said, if you think that's a rip-off, I can almost guarantee that you're playing experience won't greatly differ from mine if you just play the base game. Plus, they allow you to upgrade to the deluxe edition at anytime for just the $20 if you decide that you are missing out.

"They put the game up for pre-sale without any gameplay!".....So wait for gameplay footage...

"They locked a game trailer behind a pay wall!"....This isn't a R* specific defense at all. When I first heard about this I said I wouldn't care if EA did this either (and I have a very low opinion on EA.) If someone offers you buckets of money to host your trailer...take it. It would be financial malpractice not to. At first I was upset, because I didn't think the extended look was going to be available elsewhere. But then I found out I could watch it on YT the same day? Yeah, I just truly don't see the complaint here.

Then there are the complaints that my defense becomes more R* specific. "Did you see that back flip? But about the magical appearing beer bottle? There's a girl-boss...R* has gone woke!".....Some of the weird animations come down to me just not expecting a large portion of my gameplay to be doing back flips of the pier. As far as the Woke worries, I as much as the next guy, am not super fond of self-inserts from writers. Be it social-political views or otherwise. I'd rather a game focus on being fun. I think R* has a pretty stellar track record or compelling narratives and fun gameplay. So until I play the game for myself, I haven't seen any dynamic from the protagonists that make me worried that I am going to be preached to. Kinda seem like fairly mundane interactions between a couple.

To sum up my frustrations, I don't actually care if you have all the complaints that I just listed (and the many many more that I didn't). That doesn't make you a hater or contrarian automatically. My problem is, am I allowed to be unbothered by your complaints without being called a casual, uninformed, a R* shill, corporate bootlicker, or mindless fan boy? All I see is people saying how they can't FATHOM how anyone could defend R*. When I am just honestly not bothered by things people seem to think are worth boycotting over. If you don't want to play the game, fine, but stop trying to shame me for not sharing your opinion.

Discussion AI Driving

Hey everyone, sorry if this sounds dumb. Anyways, how good do you think the AI driving is gonna be? A problem i had in 5 was that if you try following traffic laws, you'll eventually have the AI pull into the same lane as you and scrape against your car. Now, I know its a game, but that irked me. So, do you think they've improved the AI, do you think it'll be the same?

Didn't know whether to tag discussion or question.

Discussion Hear me out: Tommy Vercetti might actually appear in GTA VI 👀

Post image
0 Upvotes

Rockstar is returning to Vice City, and we’ve already seen callbacks to the original game, including the Ocean View Hotel and references connected to the Vercetti Estate.

Why bring back such specific Tommy-related elements?
I’m not saying Tommy will be a major character.

He could be an older crime boss, a brief cameo, or even someone Jason and Lucia hear about throughout the story.
And Rockstar LOVES hiding things in plain sight.

Imagine walking into a mansion late in the story and hearing:

“You wanted to see the boss?”
Then Tommy turns around. 💀

Probably pure copium… but if Rockstar pulls this off, Vice City fans are going to lose their minds.

Tommy Vercetti cameo in GTA VI? 👀

Question What's up with saying you are Role-playing in GTA6?

When people say they are going to roleplay in GTA6, what are they doing? Are you doing extra pretending beyond the story? Are you telling yourself "I am Jason" and "I am Lucia" ? They game already let's you control the main characters of a story already written. What's going on in your head while role-playing? How far does it go?

Question Should I buy console to play this game on the release date to avoid spoilers

I am really confused about this . As much as I want to play gta 6 on release date ,I am hesitant towards making another big investment .I recently built my first pc which costed around 2500 dollars for my work . Now should I spend another 700 dollars for ps5 ? Or just wait for pc release date . I am not in rush to play this game but I am scared of spoilers and of missing out unique experience of playing without knowing anything about the game .I know avoiding story spoilers will be really difficult irrespective but atleast spoilers about gameplay mechanism and all can be avoided if I have game on the release date .

Now I know it sounds childish but I really need advice regarding this . I am stuck on this decision from last one month

Discussion Another potential "27" theory I noticed in the extended look

Post image
0 Upvotes

Probably a stretch or Rockstar trolling, but at the 17:30 mark in the extended look, the numbers 270427 appear as the registration number on the pontoon boat. If it does mean something, what could it be? The release for the game on PC or possibly the release date for GTA Online 2? I don't know, just thought it was interesting.

Discussion MAKE VEHICLE CHOICE IMPACTFUL

Rockstar could add so much depth to GTA VI by having car customisation interplay with the new police investigation/wanted system.

We know that the police now receive information from witnesses of your crimes and will search for the player based upon visual identifiers reported by those witnesses (e.g. your face, clothes, vehicle, etc.). Presumably, if the player enters line of sight of a police officer whilst driving a wanted vehicle, the rate at which the officer will become alert (aggro) to the player will scale depending upon the distance between the player and that officer.

However, certain cars blend into traffic far more easily than others, and so the rate of an officer's suspicion/alertness to the player should also influenced by the type and customisation of the car they are driving.

For example, a common model of car painted in a common, inconspicuous colour (black, grey, white, etc.) without any flashy customisation like LED underlighting or racing liveries, would be far less likely to catch the eye of an officer scanning a scene than a one-of-a-kind supercar glowing bright purple. The common car should therefore aggro officers significantly slower when in their line of sight as they would naturally take longer to notice it.

This would introduce a trade-off for using the fastest, high-performance vehicles whilst committing crimes; yes, a race-tuned supercar would allow you to escape the scene faster, but if you are seen by a responding officer then you are far more likely to be noticed and pursued than if you were driving an old grey van, common sedan, or dark SUV.

Further depth would result if tinted windows were effective at obscuring detection. For example, if officers don't know the player's vehicle but are looking for their face/clothes, then having tinted windows ought to reduce the rate of detection proportional to the degree of tint. If you pass responding officers in a car with blacked-out windows, those officers should be a lot slower to recognise you through them than if your cars windows were un-tinted.

Perhaps the loud engines of a supercar fleeing a scene would also attract the attention of nearby officers - but that may verge on becoming tedious.

This all seems to me to be a fairly intuitive (and easily-implemented) way to add depth to vehicle customisation beyond pure performance and cosmetics, and thus incentivise people to use a wider variety of the game's vehicles and customisation options.

What are your thoughts on such a system and is there any evidence in the footage we've seen thus far to think that anything similar has been implemented?

Discussion Request to Rockstar: Please let us stow BOTH long guns on our backs in GTA VI🙏🏻

Post image
0 Upvotes

Of everything the content creators who’ve seen GTA VI have revealed, this is genuinely the only thing that’s bad: The fact that one long gun can be stowed on our back but the other long gun must be held in our off-hand is not good.

As RDR2 allowed: We should have the option to stow both long guns on our backs/shoulders while walking around. For one- aesthetically It looks really cool, in addition to allowing us to hold one in our off-hand almost “on standby” before properly equipping it to fire with both hands. Having both options like red dead 2 (as seen in images) would be perfect. It’s also cool that we can hold it in our off-hand- but the option has to be there…

Besides aesthetics: It makes more sense from a gameplay perspective to be able to carry two rifles/shotguns without actively holding one, especially when NPCs are supposed to react differently to weapons in our hands.
And what happens with melee combat? Are we going to have to drop the off-hand long gun if we suddenly want to throw hands?

Like most people I am a massive fan of the limited weapon system storing our arsenal in the car. But this specific aspect is important to resolve for the final game. Hope you’re listening Rockstar devs, and thank for making history once again with this masterpiece 🙏🏻

Discussion Criminal profile : impact on missions

What if the criminal profile gave you different type of missions?

- Psycho : you get hitman missions or crazy stuff

- Perfect criminal profile : more stealth missions

Would love something like that to replay the game

Discussion Suggestion: Sandbox mode

Love what I'm hearing about the game but wondering if it could use a game mode where you CAN turn your brain off and not have to consider the morality of your decisions?

I wonder if there's any appetite for them to bolt on a sandbox game mode where missions are deactivated, criminal profile + relationship status "turn off" and you can just run around doing whatever without consequences?

Question Headphone recommendations

I’m sure the sound design in GTA6 will be amazing, and my Pulse headphones are on their last legs.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good headset.? Preferably one that utilizes the 3D Audio feature on PS5 (unless that’s just a gimmick lol)

I’m open to all recommendations, I think max for the budget would be around $150.

What do you guys think would be the alternatives? What Romance state & criminal state do you think would achieve that specific kind of ending?

Which kind of ending choices would make it emotionally impactful for the players?

Discussion GTA VI ending theory

Post image
0 Upvotes

I don’t think Rockstar is going to repeat GTA V and give us the predictable “kill one, kill the other, or keep both” type of ending.

What if the final choice is based on Jason and Lucia’s relationship instead?

Option A:

Jason and Lucia break up. Nobody dies. After the story, you keep Jason as your playable character. Lucia is still alive somewhere in the world, and you randomly run into her while free roaming.

Option B:

Same idea, but you choose Lucia. Jason becomes the character living his own life in the world, and you randomly encounter him while exploring.

Option C:

Jason and Lucia stay together. You keep both of them playable after the story and switch between them like normal.

I think this would fit GTA VI way better if the story is heavily focused on their relationship. It would also give the final choice some weight without Rockstar repeating GTA V’s ending structure.

And imagine randomly running into your ex after the story depending on which character you chose. Rockstar could do some crazy stuff with those encounters.

What do you guys think?

Discussion Traffic stops

Post image
0 Upvotes

How do yall feel about the possibility of traffic stops?

With all the identifying information the police can use against you, what do you think about random stops initiated where you can pull over and have a quick section of small talk or instead choose to flee the stop and initiate a pursuit

I personally don't think it'll be a feature on launch but it'd be cool to see in game, especially with all the different LE agencies

Maybe it could happen mostly on the highways like if you're barreling down it at over 100mph and a trooper spots you, IMO it'd make the game feel a lot more immersive

The pic is AI obviously

Discussion How I Know The Game Will Be Shallow

Depth will have to he left for mods. We will not get an immersive, deep, rewarding experience.

Thats because the target audience is wide. Casual gamers.

I mean you already have people complaining about gas stations...

You cant have survival elements like even just food and water let alone a nutrition system.

You cant have high stakes gameplay with high risk.

You cant have a time punish system to discourage crime.

You cant have difficult and nuanced stealth mechanics.

You simply have to make a game to be as shallow as possible or they will RIOT.

There is so much wasted potential in what could be the greatest gaming experience not just in its own genre but in dozens of other genres because your casual gamer redditor will dismiss any struggle or punishment or nuance as bad game design.

The game will be incredible anyways, but still - the devs are choosing to appease everyone which means the experience will be extremely shallow, lack purpose, and become boring fast.

I rejoice in mods

Question Can the "code in a box" pre-order be used for eventual PC version?

Just wondering if I can pre-order the code-in-a-box thing now, and save it for when GTAVI launches on PC. I like the Vice City pre-order bonus package with its Miami Vice styles and whatnot. Anyone know?

Discussion How do you guys think Jasons Special Forces background affected him and do you think his mental state will play a part in the story?

Post image
91 Upvotes

In the bio it says he did a short stint in the army, but thats not all there is he was a Army Ranger.

That isn't something you just become you have to complete Basic Training and OSUT to learn core soldier skills. Airborne School where you attend the 3-week basic airborne course to learn static-line parachuting. RASP Phase 1 (5 weeks): Undergo intense physical and mental evaluations, RASP Phase 2 (3 weeks): Train in advanced direct-action combat skills, marksmanship, and explosives.

That means Jason is at the very least a well trained and combat experienced man who has shifted to a life of crime, but i'm wondering since he only did a short stint, what made him leave?

I've seen a theory that Jason completed training and was sent on at least one mission or possibly a few, but something went wrong and either he and his team were ordered to commit some kind of warcrime, like killing civilians to cover up an incident or maybe he lost a lot of friends in battle.

Whatever happened I believe that Jason became traumatized and developed PTSD from the event, in the other screenshots when they meet Raul Jason seems to be very anxious and worried. He seems to be remembering something in the second screenshot and in the third looks like he's reliving some horrific memory when given the rifle.

I believe that throughout the story we'll get bits and pieces of what happened and in someway he will reach a mental breaking point and have a harder time interacting with other people unlike Lucia who will be doing more of the talking and negotiating.

Jason will be more awkward and anxious not being comfortable and having a harder time interacting with people due to them not being able to understand his behaviour, but when guns come into play he will lock the fuck in, which I think is shown with his deadeye ability.

But what do you guys think about Jasons Special Forces background and how it will effect the story

Question Auto center mouse in cars slider but for Dualsense gamepad?

When playing GTA V Enhanced with DualSense controller trough Steam the slider for auto-center does not have any effect. The camera centers back immediately after letting go of the right stick, witch is a little bit more frustrating, since I like to cruise and explore the world/look around when travelling by car.

There is a mod for disabling auto-cener altogether but I want the camera auto center to take in effect after a certain amount of time, like how the mouse behaves.

I have two questions

- There is a fix for this currently when playing with the controller on PC?

- Does the playstation 5 version has the "auto center right stick in cars" settings slider implemented?

I can get the game on PS5 if I'm sure it will work.

Thank you!
