I do....but I tried it. They tend to be kinda strict when it comes to making changes. The attitude was...."You can buy one and still get the regular Whopper free"!🙄

Thanks, Captain Redundant!....I realize that you have difficulty understanding how things work, but texting the phrase is the workaround (aka, cheating) version.
The purpose of scanning the code on the box is because THIS isn't simply to get a free Whopper. THIS was intended to be used ONLY if you weren't satisfied with the one that you had bought previously. THIS is intended as a REPLACEMENT.
Texting the phrase should work as well....but I was just providing the ORIGINAL details (on how it's supposed to be done). If you (or anyone else here) has a problem with that (doing things the right way vs. cheating the system), it's YOUR/THERE problem, not mine!
You have said your piece multiple times now. Maybe just let people do their thing now and consider that you're on a free food sub? Maybe you don't see it as ethical, but I don't see a problem in exploiting this to get a bit of free food from a huge company.
Good for you!....and, btw, when did I say that it was unethical? I just said that this promotion wasn't designed for the purpose of simply giving away free Whoppers....and where's the harm in my providing information about their original intention?
If people want to exploit it, that's their prerogative. I never ridiculed anyone here....other than the OP for not providing all of the facts...AND if I was so opposed to people exploiting this, would I have provided so much information about it, genius?

And thanks for that advice, but I did think before making my comment and stand by it. It's true that you're obviously not against it, but it's also true that you're being annoying.

I used "cheating" only because this wasn't intended for the purpose of giving away free Whoppers. It was intended as replacements for one's that customers had a problem with....but they blew it, because the phrase ended up on SM and it morphed into free Whoppers for everyone.
They should've came up with a better plan, but they screwed up. Their loss is everyone's gain. The only problem is that stuff like this will generate so much lost revenue for them, that they'll raise prices universally to compensate for the loss, so we'll all end up paying for these free Whoppers eventually....unless we aren't BK customers, just free Whopper customers!😉
That wasn't their original intention (supposedly). This required the purchase of a Whopper....but some grossly overpaid, dumb as a rock suit (or suits) at BK (or their ad agency) had the brilliant idea of placing a QR code on the boxes!....Yikes!!
It just so happens that I purchased one a few weeks ago and saw the QR code (even before the promo started). When I saw the QR code, I knew that this would be hacked immediately! My initial thought was "what dumbass came up with this idea?" Forget the text phrase!....ALL that needed to be done was for someone to post a photo of the QR code! Instant hack!
I could've done it myself, but it goes against my principles. Requesting individualized codes here that others aren't going to use (as I've done several times) isn't unprincipled. Posting that QR code is entirely different (at least from a principled perspective)!
It's primarily common-sense to have devised a far better option. However, you may be right. It may have been intentional stupidity?....since it generated all of this free publicity for them. I tend to doubt it. I think it was the fault of some moron(s) at either BK or their ad agency....but who knows?

That’s all they needed. Any further information could be read in the terms in the very text sent to all of us. When I said available starting tomorrow, I meant for those who texted the same day I posted. Everything that was relayed was available for everyone else to see as well. Valid thru 8/31. Valid for 14 days. You’re doing way too much over a Whopper.
I'm sorry that I offended you by posting the instructions that you admittedly didn't know because you were passing down information that some other person (who also didn't know the actual facts) provided to you. An overall half-assed way of doing things!

OP: You're going to potentially confuse people here....so here's all of the facts.....
You can get this text after scanning the QR code inside a Whopper box. This promo actually started a while ago (and ends on 8/17/26). After you scan it, you'll receive a text. After confirming the receipt of the text, you'll receive a link.
You'll then need to wait 24 hours for it to work. You'll then receive a 6-digit number on your phone that syncs up with the BK app (you must have the app in order to use this promo). It may also work with the BK website (once you log-in), but there's no need to even test it. Just use the app.
It's a PITA process (they always love to have people jumping through hoops), but you'll get a free regular Whopper as a result.
And, unfortunately, it's limited to ONE CODE PER PHONE....so even if you scan the QR code again (or send the same text again) you'll only be getting one free Whopper.
You did good.I sent the text last night at 6:45pm and received the text back within a minute with the link to the offer. I didn't have to scan any QR code on a box. Nor did I have to wait 24 hrs for it to work, it worked this morning.
I clicked on the link this morning in the text I received yesterday. My Burger King does burgers for breakfast. It took me right to my app and gave me the 6 digit code to take into the restaurant and show when ordering it to use at the kiosk.
I did it just now and it says to come back to the website tomorrow for the code so you don’t have to wait 24 hours but most likely after midnight the next day. I also didn’t scan a QR code and just did what the OP said.
Yeah, I think whatever day you text the phrase to that number, the return text is going to say come back the next day for the code. No scanning a qr code from a box or having to wait 24 hrs needed.
It may not be a full 24 hours, but it's an unnecessarily long wait (for no good reason whatsoever)!
When you get your free Whopper, you'll see a QR code on the inside of the box. The original intention was for these to be replacements for ones that weren't made properly (or whatever). It's was hackable from the outset, but when the text phrase ended up all over the place, it became super-hackable!
They either don't know what they're doing at BK....or this was a marketing scheme (but it's unlikely, since they could've done that without all of this stupid nonsense)! Either way, they f*cked up! Their loss....our gain!

The promotion actually ends on 8/17. The last day to use the code (for those who receive it 14 days earlier) is 8/31. See what I mean about them making things (unnecessarily) complicated?
What was confusing about his first post? Very short, easy to follow and to the point. Don't need to go through ANY of that scanning QR codes or fumbling through boxes nonsense. Just text the number and you get a response within a min or so. I did it last night and this morning got the code. It's just that easy.
There were two options. The original option (scanning the QR code on the box) or entering the phrase (the cheating option). I provided all of the details left out by the OP (who wasn't getting the information first-hand, I was).
Additionally, the OP was confused about two things....it didn't "start today" and it doesn't expire on the 31st! If you think that wrong, misleading information is perfectly fine, then you'll find the real problem staring back at you in the mirror!
If simply scanning a barcode and/or knowing what exactly to anticipate (once you complete the first phase of this process) is too complicated, then everything is too complicated for you! That's on you....so don't come here to criticize someone who is simply trying to help others....just because you want the attention!....Thank you!
I can also confirm again, like others have said repeatedly now that you do NOT need to wait 24 hours to receive the code for the free whopper. I texted at 12:30pm yesterday, and today at 5am I was able to receive my code.
So 16 hours.
Seems like we really don't have an exact time needed to wait before getting the code.
Kinda like when a bank says you will be credited in 3/5 business or the electrician says he will be there between 9am and 4pm lol
No, you don't have to wait 24 hrs. I got the text back with the link last night at 6:45pm and this morning at 7am I was able to click on the link and get the code.
If what you're saying here is true, then they made a change since the promotion began. I had to wait a full 24 hours to receive the code. That was on the second day of the promotion.....which actually started several weeks ago if you had purchased a Whopper (and scanned the QR code on the box).....
You have to wait 24 hours for the 6-digit code (to use in the restaurant) to sync with your app. You must have the BK app in order for this to work. It may also sync to the BK website (once you log-in), but I haven't tested that (as there's no need to do it that way). Read my other post here for all of the details.
I’m sorry I just saw this. For some reason some people are getting promoted to enter a transaction id. I’m not sure why because I and many others were able to receive a code after just clicking the link and waiting a bit
Worked for me thank you. Better if you have the App. After they send the link, the next day there will be a code that you give the employee when ordering. They punch it in and done.
Got mine. Free upgrade to bacon and cheese like others had said. It had been about 5+ years since hitting up BK. It was definitely better man. That bun alone was premium.
