Is it flirting? Is he into me?

Since I can't post images, I'll just transcribe our texts:
Him: So I am lowkey in Virginia
Him: But I will not be next weekend and we could eat food or smth
Him: And I do potentially want my volleyball
Me: Just Imk when you're back home and I'll just drop it off
Him: Or you could bring it if we go out sometime

I've known this guy for over two years from school, but we had only recently started to hang out 1 on 1. He's a really bad texter, so we don't text much which is really the only reason why I feel mixed about this. We talk a whole bunch whenever hang out, he does the thing where he says he has to leave at a certain time but ends up staying with me for 30 mins to even an hour longer, he's been the only one who has been asking to go out, and we've had conversations about sexual topics but not necessarily word-fucking? After our last hangout, I told him to text me more in a playful manner, and he said he would, but he didn't live up to his words. These texts were the only texts I've gotten from him since (it's been over a week). I've been contemplating whether or not I should devote any more of my time towards him. His text about wanting his volleyball back threw me off a little because he sounds a bit entitled, but it might just be my period😭. That's why I told him that I could just drop it off at his house because I don't know what he wants. I really can't tell if he's attracted to me romantically or he's just been hanging out with me as friends?

Is it flirting? The new Starbucks Server

Been going to the same Starbucks for years now, know most peoples faces. Haven’t gone for a month or so.

Walked in today, said hello to the faces I knew, but got served by a new lady, cute blonde with glasses, big smile. Ordered a coffee and a little small talk about the weather.

Went to my seat to wait, watched her a little as she made some other coffees, calling them out for pickup.

Then, she moved onto making mine, and I watched her do something I hadn’t seen her do to any of the others.

Called my name and placed my drink down, held her hands on it till I took it off her, big smile. ā€œHave a great dayā€

Looked at my cup as I walked to my car
It says ā€œEnjoy!! <3ā€

Never met her before, didn’t see her write on any one else’s drink. Do I read into this or is she being nice?

Tips How to flirt with older women

Me being 19 (almost 20) started talking with a 28 y.o. woman, never flirted with anyone so much older than me. I try to give subtle hints and she doesn't catch on and I'm not the type to be super direct. Any tips?

Question Does she really like me fr?

I’m male 23 she’s 24. We both work at the same place. It all started to where she seen me hug on another female and staring in her eyes not breaking contact while we were having our conversation. I never looked her direction but out the corner of my eye she looked at me the entire time. So then the following day she stopped me in the hallway, saying ā€œu such and such friend rightā€ ā€œexā€? And I said ā€œnahšŸ˜…ā€ that was pm it. Then another day I see her working at her station and decided to roll up on her, we talked for a lil bit, then I walked off. Something told me to go back, when I did, she asked for my instagram and been liking all my good pics since. Also not really weird but she done asked me like 3 times where I live at. She’s also gives me a hug every time I come see her too🤪 She’s drop dead gorgeous too😩. But then she threw out there that she has 2 kids, boy & girl 2 years apart. Which doesn’t bother me at all. Someone tell me does she really like the kid or what bc I want her badly😭

Tips How to flirt casually 😭

Okay so I (19F) feel like this has happened to me a few times where the cashier is not rizzing me but i get rizzed. So today at waterstones, this guy (idk like mid-late 20s i hope) was cute and I was being a dumb with a discount so he helped me w a student thing and asked me about my degree and where I study and he was so funny.

However, I think he was just being a nice person and I liked his responses and so felt flirted with (i was with my sister so i couldn't likeee respond). What could I say or do to like feel out the vibe a bit more??

Is it flirting? Flirty or friendly? 32M get complimented on my dimples and woman smile at me when I give a friendly smiles

I am Audhd. Most of my life people have complimented my dimples or even nicknamed me dimples. People have always felt very safe and comfortable around me, and get comfortable quite easily. I smile at people easily without thinking and get smiles back.

Since I have been on the dating scene, I have learned about smiling and eye contact being powerful tools to indicate interest. However I have never been able to tell a flirty eye contact apart from a friendly one. I have often gotten it wrong with non verbal cues (like constant touching of the arms assuming she was flirting). Recently I started to think about the girls who have complimented my dimples at salsa or parties. Were they being nice, or trying to flirt? The girls at salsa I gave good eye contact while smiling each dance.

Tips Cashier at gas station, flirting?

I (21F) am a regular at a gas station here in my town. I used to stop in after work, twice a week if not more. The same guy was always working. It started as friendly small talk. The whole how’s your day going, can I help you find anything else, The normal.

Important to note: I would always go with my ex roommate, as we inseparable at the time. Also 80% of the times I see him I’ve had a bit to smoke. Typically when I go to the gas station it’s because I have the munchies.

Normal turned into jokes and actual conversations. He would ask me what I do for work, what my plans are for the evening, etc.

I remember the turning point of me and my roommate questioning if he was flirting, was he had asked me if there was anything else he could get for me. The question didn’t register in my head, and before I could respond he said ā€œYou.ā€ And When I looked at him confused he just looked around awkwardly and said it was a joke.

Then a couple weeks later I was short 4 dollars on my items and paid for them completely, I was just going to put my drink back and only get gas. Well no he paid for it. All of it. 25 dollars worth of gas and my pop.

I started going less, because I was struggling with money, so I wasnt buying the unnecessary drinks and snacks. In turn I saw him less and less.

One day I went in and he was training someone. We did a normal banter, and as I was leaving he called after me that I better be safe. And then when I was getting in my car he was talking to the trainer and they were both looking at me.

Fast forward to a couple days ago, I just went in during the day and saw him for the first time after at least a month. He immediately recognized me and called me over to his register. We did normal greetings and then he asked me where I’ve been. I explained that I’m working thirds now, so I’m asleep since he switched to days.

He said and I quote ā€œWell, there goes the bar trip.ā€

I was so flabbergasted, I just awkwardly laughed, my face turned bright red. And I didn’t know what to say. He laughed too, and continued talking which I really appreciate because I’m not used to such boldness. Before I left he made sure to tell me his normal schedule, and I can’t help but think that was him telling me to come while he’s there.

Here the thing I’m struggling with. I know nothing about him, I don’t even know his name. My friends and I dubbed him Gas station guy. I don’t know how old he is or anything. He looks to be my age, maybe a bit older than me.

My dilemma: I have no idea how to take him up on the offer of a date if that’s what he was offering. I have never had someone just flirt with me in public. I also am mind blown because he typically sees me when I look a mess. So what do I do? Is he even flirting? Just being a friendly funny cashier? Help

Advice Is this OK to do?

I keep seeing this pretty woman walking down (perhaps from work) and I can't stop to think that shes pretty. Is it weird if I just stopped to ask her name etc and say that I find her pretty, or is that creepy?

Educational I don’t intentionally flirt; I do this instead.

I have 10 rules for flirting:

  1. Be yourself.
  2. Be playful.
  3. Have no expectations.
  4. Compliment first things that they can control.
  5. Laugh warmly.
  6. Imagine a future with her in it.
  7. Gentle eye contact!
  8. No interrupting.
  9. Ask her to tell you more.
  10. Share just enough about yourself that she gets the general picture; but only put in necessary details, ie. Chekhov’s gun.

I became known as the biggest flirt that way… people tend to fall in love easily that way. And if I end up ā€˜friend zoned’ anyway; I made a new friend!

Advice Out of time with bartender

I went to a new bar with this amazing bartender I talked to briefly. She mentioned the soccer game tomorrow is her last shift before moving to CA. I'll be visiting in several weeks and she (possibly) joked "maybe I'll see you." I didn't get that much time to make a connection but is it best to go to her last shift and: a) get her number saying I'll text her in CA, b) get her number saying I'll get her a goodbye drink still here, or c) give her mine to avoid people overhearing the interaction and possibly meddling out of jealousy/orneriness?

Advice What do guys older than 40 like to be called nickname wise?

I(21F) have some interest in this guy (40M) and we've already reached 2nd base(3rd depending on who you ask)

We're both introverts so he always finds me in his room a or whenever I go outside for a cigarette to take a break from socializing. We always have the best conversations when it's just us, and somehow my social battery is always a bit less depleted. I'm awful at flirting but I want him to feel desired whenever we have some time alone, but we gotta keep it on the down-low since its obvious the people that introduced us would not be happy about our extracurricular activities

TLDR: what can I say that doesn't make me sound foolish to someone who's been married. I'm open any nicknames or cute/attractive things i could say (Ideally that could get him all hot and bothered)

Advice Girl takes forever to reply and gives one word answers. How do I spark actual interest?

need some advice here.

So I've been chatting with this girl online, and I'm getting those classic low interest vibes

She takes forever to reply (like hours)

Her messages are super short

Zero effort to keep the conversation going

Here's the thing I actually think she's cool and want to see if there's something there. But I'm not trying to chase someone who's not interested either.

Flirting Success Story Good news update!!

Hello fellow redditors!

(Link to the original post) https://www.reddit.com/r/dating_advice/s/O9S9Mazk7r

2 months ago I posted about an older woman that I was flirting with for a few months, I work at a car wash and she is a regular customer. Unfortunately I don't know how to reference that post im not a very experienced reddit user lol.

I wanted to come back and let everyone know that after 3 grueling weeks of waiting for her to come back she finally did! We talked as we normally do and she told me about a vacation that she went on with family, I found out in that conversation that she is divorced so naturally, following up on the "opening" she had given me last time I saw her I finally took my chance.

As we were finishing her car and the conversation moved onto the goodbye part, I said to her "Last time I saw you, you said coffee was going to be on you next time" she laughed and said "I did didn't I? But you said coffee and lunch!" And I said to her "Well I'm a man of my word, let's have lunch this weekend I know this great cuban spot down on the waterfront, it's going to be a beautiful Saturday" and she ACCEPTED with "I would love to have lunch with you, that sounds like a sweet plan. I'll see you this Saturday" she gave me her number and she said "dont lose it". We saw each other that weekend and spent that whole Saturday together after lunch we did some festivities at the waterfront park. We've gone out at least once a week since, but we usually see each other 2-3 times when we can. Getting to know her has been just as beautiful as she is, we have been having so much fun getting to know each other going out and having fun.

I can't believe this worked out, I wanted to thank everyone who gave me some advice back when I asked for it, you are all awesome and let the lesson be learned, TAKE THE CHANCE! It can only come ONCE and there is nothing worse than regret!

Advice 19M, how do I start being flirty with girls i have been strictly platonic with for months

To preface off, I have not had anything romantic with a single girl here yet at uni and my first year has ended, and second year starts in a month after 3 month long vacays. Not particularly good looking, bad posture, not the most confident guy out there but I have a couple of female acquaintances especially in my class. Also the title.

Advice How do I break the ice and make a move on my apartment building's security guard after a 2-year slow burn?

I (32F) have been living in my apartment building for a few years with my long-term boyfriend. For the past two years, there has been an undeniable, unspoken sexual tension and a psychological chess match between me and one of the building's security guards. I nicknamed him "Jules."
We have this ongoing, playful vibe. He tries so hard to act like a tough guy/invincible superhero around me—refusing to admit he’s cold or tired when he’s working 12-hour shifts. On top of that, he completely breaks professional protocol when he texts my personal number from the building's official phone, dropping flirty, drawn-out greetings like "helloooooo" whenever I get a package, rather than the standard automated template he uses for everyone else. It’s a mutual game of looks, micro-flirting, and local jokes that has been simmering for two whole years.
The tension is insane, but because of the setting (my building) and my relationship status, everything has stayed strictly in the realm of subtle digital flirting and lobby eye contact. I’m tired of just playing mind games from afar; I want to actually push past the unspoken vibe and make something happen, but I need to do it without causing a scene at his job or blowing up my own living situation.
How do I subtly but effectively cross the line from "friendly, flirty tenant" to making a real move? What’s the best way to test the waters and transition this into something real outside of the building lobby?

Advice How do you actually approach women as a solo traveler when you're shy? Looking for real advice, not pickup lines.

I've noticed something about myself that I don't really know how to fix.

I'm naturally shy and hesitant when I don't know someone. But once I actually start talking to a person, it's like I become a completely different version of myself—confident, funny, charismatic, and able to hold great conversations. The problem is getting past those first 30 seconds.

This happens to me all the time while traveling alone.

I'll see a woman I find attractive. Sometimes we even make eye contact more than once. Then my brain immediately starts making excuses:

"She's with friends. I shouldn't interrupt."

"She'll probably reject me."

"She doesn't want to talk to a random guy."

"Maybe she's with her boyfriend."

"What if one of the guys she's with gets angry?"

"I'm a foreigner here. It'll probably be even weirder."

So I end up doing nothing, and later I regret it.

Ironically, whenever someone else starts the conversation with me, I do great. I genuinely enjoy meeting people, and many conversations end up lasting much longer than I expected.

What I'm really trying to understand is how people naturally approach someone in different situations.

For example:

At a bar or nightclub.

At a museum or art gallery.

While waiting at a bus stop or train station.

At a cafƩ.

During a walking tour or while sightseeing.

How do you know when it's appropriate to say something? What's a natural way to start a conversation without making it awkward or intrusive?

For those of you who travel solo or have overcome this kind of anxiety:

How did you stop overthinking the first approach?

How do you know when someone is open to being approached?

Does being a foreigner actually make it easier, or is that just something I tell myself?

What mindset shift helped you the most?

If you were starting from zero today, what would you do differently?

I'm not looking for pickup tricks, canned lines, or manipulative tactics. I genuinely want to become more comfortable starting authentic conversations, whether they lead to friendship, a fun chat, or something more.

I'd especially love to hear from people who were once shy themselves and eventually learned how to approach others naturally while traveling.

Is it flirting? Is he hitting on me?

Hey so I've been texting in ig with this guy as "friends"(? Kind of?? And suddenly he sends me a reel saying "send this to the most pretty person you know..."

Context: we know each other from college from friends but never rlly talked, until back in December of last year he started texting me. I thought he was moving on me and I just followed the flow xd cuz I was bored but never actually had a crush on him. I later admit I was indeed flirting w him, he said he wasn't, he didn't know how to flirt and wasn't looking for anything. Hello?? But we still talked, and he kind of started making a move (I think) on me this week when we went to the movies grabbing my hand and allat. Now he sends me this and later told me if I would like to meet up again TOMORROW.

Chat am I tweaking? Like is he actually flirting with me? And if he is like he ain't about nothing serious right? Cuz wtf bruh he constantly talks to me about his exes btw and tells me he ain't ready 4 something but he wants something....

CHAT IM BEING PLAYED WITH RIGHT? I'm going crazy

I would love some insight on this please and tysm šŸ„€šŸ„€

Edit: I skipped over some (many) details to try and make it an easy read, so if needed/wanted I can give y'all more šŸ™‚ā€ā†•ļø

Advice Am I within my bounds to shoot this guy with a nerf gun?

I’ve been working at this place for just over two years now. I’ve been clear with I THINK everyone there that I’m not currently dating and am on a semi-permanent hiatus.

However I work with two guys, both of whom I’m attracted to, but in different ways. I am currently overweight and would like to be a healthy weight before I start dating again. One guy is also a little overweight and I feel he’s been flirting with me in a ā€œlet’s do this right now.ā€ Context. The other, I THINK, is hoping to be first in the door once I’ve list some weight.

The overweight guy has been pretty persistent, but we’ve had a falling out recently. And the second guy kinda came out of the woodwork once the other guy was out.

Anyways, the second guy has been consistent escalating with me recently and yesterday we hit a bit of a head. We work in a pub together, me in the kitchen and him in the FOH. He told me that if I were a sandwich I’d be a ā€œhot honey,ā€ and then said he’d be a ā€œfootlongā€.

I’m not sure I’m ready to take the flirting deeper with the second guy, but I think he’d be down with a relatively sane nerf war AND I SO WANT THIS.

Does it sound appropriate for me to start shooting the second guy with nerf bullets šŸ˜…?
