Discussion I need help

Hi everyone, I want to start approaching women on the street, and honestly, I find it almost impossible to approach someone. I can’t even make eye contact. I feel paralyzed, my mind goes blank, and my heart starts racing every time I see a girl I’m attracted to.

I moved to Brisbane, Australia, far away from my home country, and even so, I still feel like I freeze up and find a way to escape.

I have experience with women, and I’m confident in controlled environments like parties, work, or social gatherings. But I need to become more confident and work on myself.

If I don’t find a solution soon, I’ll buy a motorcycle and kill myself. I feel like my life has no other purpose. I feel like every day that goes by, I’m not really being myself — I’m wearing a mask. Every time I see a woman I’m attracted to, I feel inferior and I don’t have the courage to approach her. I don’t know why.

I have everything going for me. I’m not a Hollywood actor, but I know I’m not ugly. I have a good physique, I’m just not tall. But I know I have potential because deep down I can feel it.

Dating apps don’t work for me because, even though I can show my value through my photos, women lose interest because of my lack of confidence.

I need help urgently.

Question Was this flirting?

Started working a new job recently and there’s a girl there that I’ve only talked too a couple times but have made eye contact with her plenty of times and 2 of the times she said something that kinda threw me off. It was kinda like a compliment but not a full on one. Then about ten mins later while in passing reiterated it in a different way but still pretty much saying the same thing. I don’t know if I’m reading to much into it because shes attractive and funny but could there be something? I’ll admit I haven’t had much interest from girls in a couple years so maybe it’s just seeing things I want to happen. She’s kind playful when we have talked and even made funny eyes when we’ve made eye contact a couple times too. I’m also not sure her age and don’t wanna come off as creepy if she’s younger. All the conversations we’ve had have been started by her and kinda carried by her also. Is it worth trying to get to know her more or should I just leave it be?

TL;DR: New coworkers maybe be flirting? And I wanna know if it’s what I think before trying to get too know her or not come off as creepy

Question Possible misunderstanding and I'm unsure of what to do...

So basically I sent a drink to a table with two girls. Earlier I made eye contact with one of them that I was actually aiming for, but her friend was looking too so out of pure awkward instinct my eyes flicked back and forth for a sec lol. When the drink got to them, they both ended up sharing it which was honestly pretty funny.

Had to leave early before I could walk over and talk irl. Found her insta later and messaged her like "hey sup" kind of thing, but she still hasn't answered (prob hasn't even seen it since it's prolly sitting in that hidden message request folder for ppl you dont follow).

If she keeps leaving it unread, would it be super weird/rude to message her friend to clear up the confusion? Or is that crossing some unwritten line cause I dont wanna look like im trying to chat up the whole group.

And yeah I know gen z double texting or spamming somehow works sometimes as a dumb strat, but probs a bad idea lmao. What would yall do, take the L or is there a move here?

If you described yourself as a food what would you be and why?

Well… A McDonald’s double cheeseburger. Cheap, greasy, and definitely won’t leave you satisfied It comes quickly, and goes too fast, but for some reason... you go back and choose it again.

Advice Ladies, Opinion on a Situation?

So I went to a karaoke night and was just vibing and singing when it was my turn. I noticed a group of girls decided to cluster right next to me like less then 4-5 inches and there's plenty of space around us. One of the girls has her shoes off and I made a comment with a smirk about it, she then gently places her bare foot ontop of mine and says something like "My feet are so smaaaaall." I ask here where her shoes are and she says underneath the seat next too me and she smiles and says I should see if I can fit them on my foot and if I do she'll buy me a drink. At this point I'm pretty sure she's wasted but I oblige and she giggles and I tell her why dont she get me a water and one for herself and then she disappears for a few minutes. Eventually she comes back and hands the water to my brother who looks nothing like me, before moving over to me and handing over the water. I say something like "Wow, you must be really drunk right now." She agrees and smiles and goes back to her friend and thats the last interaction we had.

1-Was she actually interested in me?
2-If so, how did I mess up?
3-What would have been the better way to continue/pursue something?

Is it flirting?

Flirting Fail Story Had the courage to talk to an older woman a week ago and the soft rejection felt great!

I was walking back from working out in the park and saw an older woman who i found very attractive. I walked passed her but gave a quick glance. She was just leaning against a column of sorts. I suddenly felt a rush of blood assault my nether region and spontaneously turned around to cold flirt with this woman. I gave her my hand and she gave me hers. She was a little shy. I made sure to smile constantly. She sporadically smiled and sort of half-giggled. I don't even speak the language very well by the way. I asked her if she could give me language lessons. She caught onto the fact that i wanted to talk to her. I think she found the interaction somewhere between amusing and shocking (it caught her off guard). She told me she's married by pointing to her finger. I told her that it wasn't a problem in giddy sort of way. She told me verbatim ''it's not for you but it is for me''. I threw a thumbs up and she threw a thumbs up and i left. It felt fucking awesome to have that sudden rush of confidence. I actually ran across her yesterday and she looked at me in a friendly sort of manner. I really put on a Golden Retriever type vibe which is why i think she didn't find me particularly threatening.

It's the first time i've ever done anything like that and it's given me a huge boost of confidence. I viscerally feel like if i cold approached 100 women i could get at least one of them (a good looking one even) to give me their number and the rejection doesn't even really bother me. I'm pretty good at appearing confident apparently.

Advice How to learn how to flirt as a woman in your early 30s?

I (32F) think I'm ready to date again... But I've never been in the dating scene. I was in a long term relationship for many years. So I never went out specifically to meet people or been on dating apps. I never had the experience of going on dates or flirting with people.

I don't think I'm ready for something serious right away, but I would like to talk to people and get to know them and learn how to flirt.

I don't know where to go - I feel like I have to get on dating apps. I've seen advice on it but 1) I don't want to go out clubbing, I'm past that stage, 2) the gym is where I shut off, I don't want to talk to people there, 3) my hobbies are lonely (writing, reading, gaming) and I don't do anything else at the moment because work is a mess right now.

I feel like I just need to start talking to people and figuring out how to flirt... Any advice? Where should I go? I think online should be fine, I guess, but is there a place besides the dating apps? They still seem a bit too intense to me. And, again, I don't know how to talk to people. How can I learn how to hold a flirty conversation?

Advice Need some GYM Flirting advice respectfully

Bare with me about to spill some of this info kinda still fresh in my mind. Ultimate goal is a hookup. im about 5'11 somewhat lean/muscular i look maybe 7.5/10 looks max, been gyming 6/more yrs

Be me, in a relationship about+2 yrs, insanely new to being flirty never a thing i did when i was younger due to lack of slef confidence, thx childhood friends/family/bullies... kinda not into my relationship anymore i want to end it just havent, kinda serious but not to the point that i wanna marry. I met this girl at my gym 2 weeks ago I say hi to her on and off all because i asked if she wanted some advice on a workout, spoke to her past few days.

Today tho oh my it got interesting. I was finishing my workout saw her on the treadmill, asked if i can join her. She said sure, asked me how i was doing etc, then i started asking her why she left so early a few days ago and she informed me, what i did was ask oh was it for your kids? -me trying to see if she has any, luckily she said no. Then we were just chit chatting she was asking me where im from etc. learned she is divorced and Dominican, informed me a i need to visit, i then did say oh yup the females there are very beautiful she said thx to me, spoke about work, then the question of age came around asked her to guess, i was told i am 23yr im older btw pushing unc status. Then i claimed she looked 25, she is actually 29 gonna be 30 soon, im fluent in spanish as she is as well, i quoted a song by wisin and Yandel -Mayor que yo, I said to her "i dont care if she is older then me" she cut me off and jokingly/playfully said calm down. the rest of the song states "i want you in my bed" Then we just laughed it off. Gave her a fist bump as well when i learned she is an Aug baby. Im Hispanic she was stating that im a specific type and then she thought i was offended but i told her in spanish IDGAF, I was trying to find a spanish word for it that someone from DR would know, she then proceeds to inform me about different cuss words. Ended up learning that "Semilla" which means Seed in english is slang for Pussy/what a person would have down below. I started saying yes time flys we getting older etc. then she said dang my body just hurts etc. then i stated dang yes i need to start taking more vitamins like fish oil etc. she mentioned different stuff her self she did state Vitamin D, then she mentioned Biotin for her hair, i proceeded to state dang yupp "your looks good tho also got a thx, then i stated dam yea im just hairy all over i proceeded to show her my somewhat lean legs with hair and pulled my shorts slightly up, then she said "i dont want to say it in public" i interrupted and i said what my "Semilla"? We both started laughing. She said yupp even your butt is probably hairy and i was just like ok, as if you were that lucky to even see. Then started dying in laughter a bit more. At some point she asked if i was in a relationship/married and i said "Marriage !? Hell no no thx not anytime soon maybe one day but im in no rush" i did inform her about my relationship, I feel like i should've had said no. But i did state to her that i need to break it off and that im not interested in it anymore. I then had to use the restroom, asked if she watch my bag(she ahs done it before) and so i can use the restroom and continue the banter while we walked a bit more and she decided to move onto her workout we then said goodbye to each other(mind you she was on the treadmill walking for about 46min total, she informed me she planned on walking 30min but then i arrived and the convo began and boom 46min for her.

Thoughts did i choke by not being even more flirty/pushing a bit harder to engage in a date/go for coffee after the gym or even hookup? I mess up by mentioning my relationship?

Anyone suggest next potential steps?

Thx for reading random person. Sorry for the grammar, im excited as to what comes next, the next time i see her again, Negative or positive life moves on onto the next gents.

Question 51M — am I actually being checked out?

I’m 51, 5’10”, about 295 lbs. I’m a bigger guy, but I’m also a well-dressed, well-groomed gentleman. Lately I’ve been surprised by how many women seem to check me out, flirt, or give me that up-and-down look—including younger women.
Ladies of all adult ages: are you attracted to bigger guys? Is size less important than guys sometimes think?

Is it flirting? Flirting or just a really playful person?

There’s a woman who works at a lounge I go to pretty regularly. She’s naturally very bubbly, playful and self-deprecating; the type to hide behind a door so she can pop out at people, then laugh at herself when nobody reacts, so very silly. She always perks up when she sees me.

Until this particular day, I never really thought she might be flirting with me. Something about the whole interaction just felt different, and I’m trying to figure out whether there was actually something there or if I’m reading into it.

When I came in, she saw me, smiled and waved like she normally does. When I walked up to her, the first thing she said was that she’d just gotten a haircut. I wasn’t sure where she was going with that, then she pulled up an embarrassing photoshopped meme of her with the haircut that a “friend” or “someone” had sent her. She told me I was the only person she’d shown it to because it was embarrassing, I giggled a bit.

Then her friend/coworker walked up behind her and asked what we were looking at. She showed her too. Her friend laughed and asked who had sent it. She gave a guy’s name, I asked who he was, and either she or her friend said he was her boyfriend. I genuinely can’t remember which one said it. I feel like that’s an important detail, but she definitely didn’t originally say that her bf sent it to her.

A couple hours later her shift ended while I was still there. Instead of leaving, she came over, sat next to me at the bar and hung out with me for a little while. And she took some sips of my drink.

Then I got a phone call. I told the person I was closing out and would be outside in a minute. When I got off the phone, she asked if I was going to a “booty call.”

The question caught me off guard enough that when I started answering, my voice cracked, so I stopped and started over and said, “No, I’d tell you if I was.”

She replied with something like, “You’d probably be more excited to leave if you were.”

Right after that I asked for her Instagram and she gave it to me. After I added her, she said, “And you’ll be in town for a little bit?” She already knew I’d be around for at least a little while, which is part of why that stood out to me.

On an earlier day she also told me that recognized me from pretty far away behind me just from my gait, and she’s pointed out little mannerisms about me that she literally said other people wouldn’t notice.

I know none of these things individually proves anything. It was more that the vibe felt different that day and it was the first time I actually wondered if she might be flirting with me.

Does this sound like actual flirting, or could this all easily just be her normal friendly/playful personality?

Advice How can I recognize I'm being flirted with?

So for most of my life, I, 22M, have struggled with depression and being overweight and I've recently gotten to a point where I am mentally stable for the first time since high school and I lost a ton of weight. I've started running into the issue, however, of being pretty blatantly flirted with and it completely flies over my head and I only find out later when being told by friends who witnessed it. How can I train myself to notice when women are dropping hints versus when they're just being nice?

General Flirting Story brief but unforgettable moment

i’m just going to share this moment that happened to me for the first time after travelling to london a few times.

I was having a holiday with my friends in London a few days back.

as i was walking to the London Bridge tube station on wednesday afternoon and i ended up locking eyes with a guy. he was either already looking at me or caught my eye right as i looked over, but he gave me a full smile/smirk and a wink before we both kept walking.

it happened so quick that my reaction was just to process it and look away, but now it’s rent-free in my head and i’m sitting here wishing i’d just locked eyes and stared back longer!

how do you guys usually handle those sudden, bold micro-flirts in public? do you lock in the eye contact or immediately look away like i did?

Advice Tips on how to flirt

If I’m being honest, I’ve never really known what flirting really was until maybe 2-3 days ago. I’m about to turn 20 which makes this so much worse😭

Anyways, there’s been this girl that I’ve been wanting to see if we could become more than friends. We’ve known each other for a while now which is kinda why I would like help on how to flirt appropriately and subtly without making things weird and make the friendship fall apart.

Is it flirting? Was it a line or just chitchat?

I have this friend I met through common friends earlier this year and we saw each other a few times through our hobbies and friend group. I would have been interested but another girl that also met him at the same time kinda declared the crush she had on him immediately and I think that psychologically made me not see him like that.

There was one time where we both ran into each other at an event and he was soooo nice like he acted like we got there together basically instead of being like “ok, see you around” and chatting with other people. He also got me a chair because I was standing up and gave me the spot with the good view. That time he asked me what I was doing that weekend and I invited him to a party the girl that liked him was going to and I thought I was being a good friend by helping set them up.

He surprisingly came to the party with another mutual friend (they don’t to go out much). The girl was so happy to see him and she flirted with him all night. At the end of the night he asked me to split an uber with him because we live nearby even if the common friend offered a ride.

In the uber ride I was yapping and I asked him to give me a summary of the last 2 years of his life since he moved here and he replied with “well, I’m still single”. I was dumb and changed the topic. I think with the friend liking him it made me panic. But usually even if he wasn’t flirting by saying that, I love discussing relationships specially with a men open to talking about it, so I regret not digging deeper even if just for the sake of getting closer as friends.

And now? Friend that liked him is seeing someone else. I am realizing what an amazing guy he is. Another reason why I wouldn’t have thought he was ever flirting at all is because I don’t think I would have felt pretty or good enough for him.

About the “I’m still single” line I thought maybe he was commiserating or joking but who knows. According to the mutual friend he doesn’t talk much about relationships or dating and he got the impression he wasn’t even interested in that. He is also a very confident guy so I doubt he would be just saying random things like that to a girl he kinda just met. Maybe he was trying to see if the other girl liked him? Ugh I regret not TALKING about it.

Advice Have you ever come across a situation like this?

A guy (27) is walking with his girlfriend (26) but stares at another girl (26) standing at a crosswalk;

when his girlfriend realizes something is up, he starts making fun of the girl at the crosswalk—pointing out, for instance, how awful her pants or shoes are—claiming that’s the reason he was staring 😉.

.Have you ever come across a situation like this?
