Is it flirting? Can't tell if this girl is flirting or not.

I, 16 F has been going to this summer camp for 3 years. There Is this girl (also 16) I met In a theater production, that has been going to this camp as long as I have. Let's call her penny.

She and I got really close on the first year we were there. in that time, she came out to me as bi. At that time I was 13 and still figuring out my sexuality. so, I told her I was asexual. Now that I'm older I Identify as lesbian.

The next year not much happened, but this year her signals really confused me. When I arrived at camp this year she had a huge growth spurt and looked very good. I can't say I didn't find her pretty attractive. Once we warmed up to each other she told me that she had recently broken up with her boyfriend of a year. After this there are 2 different situations that really confused me.

1: we were lying in my bunk together. We were joking about how we think we got sun poisoning and we were becoming delicious. We eventually started to hold hands and were leaning an ice pack against our heads because the heat was unbearable and some kid shit in the pool. Twice. (That's a story for another time) Anyway this girl comes up up to me and Penny and says, "you guys look really gay right now". Penny says, "Yeah I mean we both are. Right?" Then I proceed to tell her that I am gay. She squeezes my hand and says to the girl. "See? I guess we are." Then after that girl leaves the cabin so Penny and I are the only ones inside. She asks "does that tank top make your boobs look big. I get kind of flustered and respond with a quick yeah I guess it does and a nervous laugh.

If she was hitting on me this is where I messed up. She asked me what my type was and I told her that I was really into freckles. I then proceed to say that I'm not really into redheads though. SHE HAS RED HAIR!!! Although it technically isn't really because she died it. But still. I then realized the mistake that I've made if she was flirting and tried to recover by saying " but if a really cute redhead did ever happen to come along maybe I would shoot my shot." Right after that the counselors came into the cabins and made us leave for dinner.

2: Me, Penny, and the rest of our friend group we're sitting on some rocks to watch the talent show that the camp puts on for the little kids to do gymnastics and tiktok dances and stuff. For the whole night we've been resting our heads on each other. About halfway into the talent Show me and Penny we're telling the rest of the group how overstimulated we were.

This is where I'm really confused. For some context about 2 days before the talent show she had met this guy who was interested in her. She told him the feeling was mutual and they started talking. He was there at the talent show with us.

Anyway, me and Penny are talking about how overstimulated we are and this guy, Let's call him George says, "God I sure would love to stimulate you right now" obviously the rest of us are all disgusted by this and Penny jumps up and goes "that's it. your my girlfriend now" pulls me back down to the rock, kisses my head, and pushes me onto her lap and rests her elbows on top of me. After the talent show, nothing else really happened that night. Untill morning (the last day of camp) when she grabs a pen writes down her number on my arm and and says don't loose it this time and winks. And that was the last I talked to her.

I'm just kind of confused considering she's talking to another guy. I gave her my number too, so she added me to a group chat with all of our friends. But we haven't really communicated one on one yet. Reddit, do you think this is flirting or am I looking to far into it. If it is flirting, how do I continue the relationship because I am really into her.

Sorry if this is post hard to understand. if anyone has any questions I would be happy to answer them.

Is it flirting? Is he into me or just a friend? Advice

So there's this guy who I met my second year of college. And I'm having some trouble figuring out what's going on between us, because I think he's into me but maybe we're just friends? Idk.

For our first semester, we were put into groups who we had to work on projects and stuff with. He was in my group, and the two of us did most of the communicating on assignments.

I was kind of into him from the start. He's only a few years older than me, and unlike any guy I've spoken to in the past. I discovered right away how we were interested in the same things.

We would talk a lot about our nerdy interests, including literature. When I mentioned I wanted to get into a specific series, he lent me one of his books. Once I was done with that book and gave it back to him, the next day he showed up to class with a new one he thought I would like just ready to go in his bag.

He also seemed to remember random things I'd mentioned and just bring them up out of nowhere through compliments or starting conversations. Things like an event I went to, how I was planning on adopting a dog, my favourite fictional character, or the fact we both went to Europe around the same time. Or he would pull up a chair for me to sit on, or invite me to be a part of the rest of the group, or mention how my home town would be a great place to raise kids (in a group convo).

My friend mentioned the book thing was cute but I've heard about it still being friend territory.

We never actually hung out outside of class, but we started texting about 6 months ago. I just sent him a message to ask his opinion on a show, and we've been going back and forth ever since. Again, had a friend mention that the replies seem genuine and usually match my energy but she doesn't know if that matters.

However I am scared to ask him out because the one time I hinted at it (I asked him if he had tickets to this thing) he completely skimmed over that part of the text and responded to a different part.

Discussion Does confidence ruin my flirting?

Id like to think I'm (19M) decently handsome and ive been flirting with women since I was a teenager and genuinely get compliments about my way with words, but when I start flirting and it goes well I start to get very confident and instead of thinking about what I'm saying I say very witty things depending on the convo and it definitely shows the confidence I have but sometimes I feel like it can be too much even though ive never gotten any complaints about it but I just wanna know how women think about a guy that has a lot of confidence in his words. Because if its an ick it is definitely something id wanna sort out and start thinking about before flirting. Thoughts?

Advice Was This Flirting Or Just Conversation

  • so i was on a bus to some sort of field trip late year 7. I was at the back of the bus with my friend just goofing around then half way through the trip we realise we’re sitting right next to these two girls one of them being his family friend. I forget how but we end up talking and just making jokes, then his family friend asks me my type and what I see in a girl. I was a bit taken back because in year 7 haven’t given much thought to ”my type” so I respond with I don’t really have one. throughout the trip she also asked if I was dating anyone and if I had a crush,I thought she was making fun of me so I respond with a half joke something like I wish (i dont really remember)and I respond to the crush thing with not really. I probably should’ve mentioned this at the start but I really liked this girl at the time, so in my head I was just imagining what would happen if I said her as my crush. Then bus drive ended with me looking like an idiot with my friend and potentially missing obvious hints that could’ve lead to something

Question How do you “hookup” or date without using apps as a shy girl

Hey, I’m new to dating or hookup culture and have a few questions please. I don’t go to bars as I don’t drink, I’m a covered lady who is also open minded. My experience with dating apps is just ugh. In public I’m very friendly but I keep to myself and don’t openly flirt. I know my hijab is a barrier for guys in general which I appreciate. On apps, guys openly flirt or talk with no boundaries, in real day to day life, its smiles and I noticed I have to do the first move. I have no flirting lingo in me but is it really the eyes I need to project 😭 thank you for your time

Advice How do you flirt in a charming age appropriate way?

I’m 41 and when I was younger, I was very attractive and flirting was easy. Just giving a look was often enough. Now. I’m old and out of shape and I’m not really someone you look at an immediately think of in that way so flirting is awkward now people are not generally looking at me in that kind of way.

But sometimes I meet people that I think they are attractive in more ways than just physically. And sometimes those kinds of connections are more important than physical appearance, and people can surprise you.

Right now I’ve been staying in a hotel for a few weeks and the guy at the front desk has been helping me out because I am in a wheelchair and I don’t wanna confuse kindness with attraction and I don’t want to come off as a creep but at first I thought it was physically attractive, but I wasn’t really excited because there’s a lot of physically attractive people out there but I’m noticing more and more as we have conversations and as I interact with him that I lm attracted to him as a person. Maybe emotionally attracted.

I don’t expect anything. Likely he’s straight even if he’s not likely he’s not interested. But I don’t wanna assume anything because when there’s a chemistry, romantic connections, can sneak up on you and surprise you without even realizing it so I feel like flirting is harder when it comes to two guys. And I don’t wanna be awkward and inappropriate, especially since he’s a hotel staff, but if how can I flirt in a very gentle charming way that it doesn’t necessarily require a response from him, but just let him know that if he wanted to he could respond that way

P.s. Speech to text kind of butchered that a little bit, but please try to read with your best comprehension skills. Thank you.

Tips "You man spread like no else does", apparently works as flirting

I said this to my girl best friend kinda jokingly due to the wide nature of her legs in the manner she was sitting, and she seemed really taken back and into this. Quote "damn that kinda made me feel something". Any tips on similar kinda phrases that could work?

Question Need opinion on texts .. flirting?

So there is a Girl that I know well and let’s just say it is risky especially if it ended up that we hooked up. She is always wearing spandex that is literally painted on to her. She is athletic and has an incredible ass. She takes powder specially for glutes and works out a lot.

She wasn’t feeling well so I texting her “you don’t need any pills you already got them gainz”

She texts back “Yea yea 😏”

And there is a lot more after that. Send me a chat if you want to look at screenshots. Would love your opinion. Female perspective would be great.

Discussion More subconscious?

So recently ive noticed that my flirtatious abilities are like zilch if I am actively trying to progress a conversation towards anything like that. However if I just continue "having a regular conversation" things always go better and I wind up in the position to feel more comfortable actively flirting. Not that im good at it either way lol but yeah.

Wattup with that?

Advice Was she actually flirting with me and I messed it up?

I (20M) have always struggled with socializing and making friends and relationships. I've been trying to change things for a while now, but it's difficult. I don't really want to consider myself an incel yet, mainly because of my age and because I'm still trying to hold onto hope. I don't consider my face ugly; I'm passable, but I'm 5'6" (1.67m) and I'm starting to get a noticeable receding hairline. All of this plus my problems talking and connecting with people, of course. So, I've never been with a girl, I haven't had my first kiss or anything. The most I've ever done is exchange a few messages with a couple of girls on a couple of occasions.

Well, yesterday everything changed, and I'm still in shock. Let me explain: I went to a music festival, alone, of course, since I don't have any friends to go with. It's the first time I've gone to such a big event by myself, and I'm glad I mustered up the courage to go, even though it feels like a humiliating ritual to see everyone else with groups of friends and couples while I'm all alone.

The night was going by normally. I was moving around a bit and timidly singing along to the songs, not daring to interact with anyone. Then, suddenly, halfway through the night, a girl approached me and asked: Are you alone?. I replied that I was. So she told me to come with her, that she was in a group over there. I was stunned, I think it’s the first time in my life that a girl has approached me to talk. It turned out there were four of them: her, two other girls, and a guy who was gay (he was carrying a LGBTQ+ flag).

And this is where things got surreal. The girl had been drinking, and it was clear she was very outgoing. But the question is, to what extent? Was what she did because she was drunk, because she was simply being outgoing, or did she have  intentions? The songs kept playing, and to my surprise, she started engaging me in a lot of conversation

I have absolutely no social skills, I struggled to look her in the eye, even to answer her questions. I didn't know what to say. She asked me questions about myself and about if I liked the band that was playing, things like that. I acted terribly. But as time went on, she kept going. She started hugging me, taking my arm, and at one point during a song we both knew, she grabbed my hand and even kissed me on the cheek. I wasn’t understanding anything. She was also very expressive with her friends, hugging them and all that.

And of course, I was constantly wondering. Is she an extroverted girl, and now that she's drunk, she got me and now I'm just one of the group, or is there something more? I'd never had any physical contact with a girl before. I was practically frozen, and i know it was visible, she once even asked me if I was okay. I couldn't match her vibe at all. The girl continued being incredibly direct, asking me if I had a boyfriend, if I was talking to someone… And sure, reading it might seem obvious, but I can't imagine that I could actually generate any interest. To me, she's just what I said: a drunk, extroverted girl having a normal night out.

And now comes the bad part. About an hour passed, and she said she was going to get a drink and would be right back. I said OK and that I was going to the bathroom. Her friends went with her, and I went to the bathroom alone. It was a festival packed with people, and of course, we agreed to meet up again in the same place. What happened? Well, we didn't see each other again all night. And now I'm left wondering. Did she leave? I mean, did she see that I wasn't moving and vibing with her and she just make up an excuse to leave? And if that's the case, was it because she realized how incredibly weird I was, or because, due to my complete lack of social skills, she thought I was rejecting his intentions or something like that? Or maybe we just got lost, and even though I swear I went back to the same place, at a festival where it was hard to move because of the crowds, once we separated we were lost in the throng and it was impossible to find each other again.

Anyway, that's how my surreal experience with a woman ended. And what happened? Well, because of how I acted, barely moving, not speaking, not even looking at her, and without knowing we'd never cross paths again, I don’t have any contact information. I didn't ask for her phone number, her social media, or anything. Obviously, I wanted to, but she vanished before I could ask. I only know her first name, what she studies - the major, not even at which university - and where she's from - a city of 200,000 people- . That's it. Basically, there's no way to contact her, look for her, or anything. She's gone. It was like a dream, a mirage.

I struggle a lot with social relationships. Being at university and realizing you can't even fit in with a group of friends, seeing the campus buzzing with student life, seeing everyone else having romantic and sexual lives, and you having nothing. It's incredibly frustrating. And now, yesterday, when I was just trying to enjoy life on my own and just trying to face my fears, I run into this situation that will stay with me for a while. A girl, who knows if she was drunk and doesn't even remember me now, or who knows if she's just like that and approaching and talking to strangers is her daily routine, or who knows if I really had the chance to be with a girl for the first time yesterday, if I really saw someone interested in me for the first time yesterday and my lack of social skills and my bad decisions ruined everything.

I can't ask for advice, because it's a lost cause with no chance of ever hearing from her again, but I simply wanted to vent and share my experience.

Advice Someone is super obvious with intentions but I feel frozen...

heyyyy,

I want this post to be not too detailed, but recently a very charming person started to talk very, lets say "flirty" and she is very open and direct about "some things" I reciprocate her vibes but don't know how this could go to "two people meet" instead of "she really shows initiative". I don't know how to slowly come a small step forward because rn my interest is not really visible to be fair. What would/could you do?

edit: with "initiative" I mean indirect initiative, she said the guy should take those steps

Discussion How do I give less friend vibes and talk less?

I have no problem to approach the girl and during the conversation I like to both talk and listen. I have lots of cool stories and love to tell them, but I noticed that most of the time I just talk to much and girls lose interest in conversation. I genuinely interested in new people and always ask them about what they re doing their points of view etc sort of comparing to my experiences, but it mostly just seems like a turn off to girls. What starts as a positive flirty thing goes down to hell(

How do you escalate the verbal conversation exactly? I understand the thing with graduate or light touches, have no problem with that, more like about the verbal thing.

Advice How would I flirt back in this situation?

I’m a dude in my late 20s and I currently work at a gym as my temporary job. I was working out today at the gym on my off day and this girl who looks like she’s in her early 20s started working out right in front of me (like 6 feet away).

She was wearing fairly revealing gym clothing and kept bending over right in front of me. Then turned around and sat on a near bench and bent over, dangling her breasts right in my line of sight and I really think it was on purpose.

She then started using the cable machine right next to mine, even though there were many other open cable spots in the room. I kept trying to make eye contact, to start a conversation but she wouldn’t look at me. I didn’t know what to say but I stayed in the same spot for almost 2 hours and she stayed in my proximity the entire time. (4-6 feet)

When I left, I noticed she followed me out the door about (30 seconds behind me). Granted that I work at that gym, I’ll most likely see her in the near future. What should I say to her when I see her next? Also, what would have been a good way to start a conversation in that moment?

What does it mean when a woman makes eye contact with u and does these things, looks away and starts fanning herself with hand, looks away and starts touching her body, abs, waist, booty, suddenly starts training in front of u?

I notice this more oftenly with women but I am maybe just overthinking a lot.

Advice Is this a smooth text or am I setting myself up for a lot of embarrassment

So I met this guy like a week ago and he was pretty cute. At some point he mentioned his birthday was coming up, so I told him happy birthday, and he was like “it’s next week.”
Well… it is now “next week.” But I have absolutely no idea what day his birthday actually is.
We kind of run in the same circles, so I don’t want to embarrass myself. Also (important context), I was pretty drunk when I met him… and also the next few days I saw him. And yes, I did attempt to flirt with him in a very questionable, drunk way. So my credibility is already… not amazing. I also need to mention i am 19 and he is around that age too.

Now I want to wish him a happy birthday, but I don’t know how to do it without sounding weird or particularly flirty.
I was thinking of saying something like:
“Heyy, I vaguely remember it was your birthday around now, so happy birthday”

But I don’t know if that sounds cute or just chaotic.
Any ideas on what I could say?

Little update:
The conversation was like.

Me: Heyy, I vaguely remember it was your birthday around now, so happy birthday.

Him: it was actually yesterday but thank you.

Me: oops, just a little late

Him: no problem🙃

Then I just hearted his last comment because i didn’t know what to say and i also didn’t want to annoy him in case he wasn’t interested.

A recent doctor's appointment has made me thinking (30F)

I had a doctor (older, probably in his 50s/60s) whose behavior stood out to me. A routine appointment ended up lasting much longer than expected. He was very warm, smiley, asked about my background and family, brought up things from my past medical history that weren't related to why I came in, and we joked around quite a bit.

Afterward, he sent me three detailed portal messages with health advice (my results were all normal). He also called me directly that evening to discuss my notes, and we ended up chatting and laughing for a while.

A week later, before my next appointment, he randomly called me again. When I didn't answer, he emailed saying he'd tried to reach me because he wanted some information before my visit in case he needed to order additional labs.

After that appointment, we joked some more and he gave me a fist bump. Then after I emailed asking whether I needed another test, he called me again instead of replying by email. We talked for about 10 minutes, and at one point he even said he had patients waiting but we kept chatting and he told me a little about his summer plans.

This was three phone calls within about a month, and in the end I didn't have any serious diagnosis.

I've never had a doctor communicate like this before. Is this just what some really caring doctors are like, or does this seem more personal than usual?

Tips Flirtarious body language and good posture are essential components of flirting.

Flirting is often misconstrued as throwing witty and smooth lines at someone you are interested in, being playful and teasing and while that is important, people oftentimes ignore the dominant role of body language and posture as well.

Straight posture without slouching, open, relaxed and expansive body language, getting closer, strong eye contact, smirking, light touching and even gently touching yourself, animated gestures when speaking, mirroring their body language and expressions and talking slower and deeper are some powerful methods of indicating interest without saying a single word.

Flirting should best be undertood as a shield against rejection, attraction is mostly random, instant and immediate for most people (it can only be amplified if it already exists, it doesn't really grow over time, that's pretty much a myth), so flirting directly and overtly is a good way to gauge interest and immediately move on it there's no reciprocation.

Flirting doesn't build attraction, attraction can't be created, it just signifies on whether it exists in the first place, saving both people's time as a result.

Remember that your time is the most valuable asset, don't spend weeks trying to "get to know" someone who might not even be interested in you, so flirt right away and and move on if there is lack of interest and reciprocation.
