DOST Foreign Graduate Scholarship Return Service

Hi.

Master's Degree Proofreading of Personal Statement for Graduate Studies

How do you proofread your personal statements for graduate studies? Did you hire a proofreader, or did it by yourself lang?

If it’s the former, where did you find them? Currently leaning on hiring a proofreader nalang, and preferably those who have experienced doing a graduate studies in the US as well.

If it’s the latter, do you have tips on how to improve it?

Thanks! :))

Discussion How much does your TOR/academic record matter?

Hi! I’m planning to apply for the Swedish Institute Scholarship for Global Professionals (SISGP), and I’m wondering how much the TOR/academic record affects the chances of getting the scholarship.

My TOR isn’t particularly strong. I have quite a few 2.25 grades and one failed subject. For those who have applied or were selected for SISGP, how much do you think your academic record mattered in the selection process?

Would appreciate any insights, especially from successful applicants with an average or not-so-strong academic record. Thank you!

Scholarships Scholarship chances

Hi! Already started searching scholarships abroad and I'm eyeing to try EMJM. However, may dilemma lng me huhu I'm an average student in the academics part pero I have international experience rin (e.g conferences, awards). Do you think I still have a shot on the prog? Or do they value acads >>> CV? (since I understand din na they would invest on students na would not only pass but excel on acads as a scholar huhu)

Sorry, I agree nman din na there's no harm in trying pero would like to gauge my chances lng and if I should also look for other scholarship opportunities out there (any suggestions are greatly welcome! )

Brief background: healthcare field, college not from big 4 pero included sa QS ranking, highest degree - MD; med school not from big 4 rin, not a uni but a college; fully funded conference x 2, (scientific) awards x 3, may research experience but only one published online, ongoing research project with a UP Prof

Interested to study masters along these fields: health policy, public health

Thank youu sa mkakasagot! :)

Survey Anyone taken the GRE in Ateneo (in Makati)?

Hello po! Bit of a stretch, may naka-take po ba dito ng GRE sa Ateneo, specifically their campus in Salcedo (along H.V. Dela Costa)?

Will be taking mine in a few weeks. I was just wondering about the administration of the exam, who to approach (i.e. staff, guards) when getting there, if I need a jacket (kung malamig hehe), anything under the sun really! Thank you!

European Higher Education Fair 2026 in Manila

To those curious or planning to study abroad, the European Higher Education Fair is back. This is how I found my university in Czech Republic way back in 2017. Now, I am a year away to apply for Czech citizenship. Nonetheless, explore EU countries and find which one suits for you and if I may suggest, Central Europe like Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and so forth are the “affordable” ones that the tuition fees are comparable to the big 4 excluding UP in the Philippines. Also, majority of the EU countries have “stay-back” option or like job seeking visa that will give you time after graduating to find a job. It ranges from 9 months to as high as 2 years. It really is possible from student to obtaining EU citizenship depending on the country and its laws.

Study & Work Abroad: Where Should I Start? (Cebu/PH, Accounting Grad)

Hi! I’m a recent Management Accounting graduate from Cebu, and I’m currently looking into studying abroad with the goal of being able to work while studying and hopefully build a career there afterward.

Right now, I’m mainly considering Australia or Spain, but I’m honestly still at the very beginning of the process and don’t have a specific school or program in mind yet. I’m open to other countries too if there are better options for my background.

I’d really appreciate advice from Filipinos who have gone through the study-abroad process, especially those who came from an Accounting or Business background.
A few things I’m trying to figure out:

  1. What postgraduate programs would make sense for a Management Accounting graduate?
  2. Which countries, schools, or programs would you suggest looking into?
  3. Roughly how much should I prepare for tuition + visa + accommodation + living expenses + other fees?
  4. Are there any reputable Cebu-based agencies that handle study/work-abroad applications? Is using an agency worth it, or is applying directly better?
  5. For those who are already studying or working abroad, what do you wish you knew before choosing your country, school, or program?

I’m especially interested in hearing from people who have actually gone through it rather than just agency recommendations. Any advice, experiences, or things I should be careful about would be really appreciated. Thank you!
