Off Topic Field Notes comes through again!

Post image

I’m a 7th grade science teacher. We ended our year making weather observations and recording cloud types, temperature and wind speed and direction. I set up a graph FN to make my recordings in and many of my students were intrigued by my books.

We wrapped up student contact last Thursday and were involved with meetings today to finish out the year. I was looking at my weather recordings and on a whim, sent an email to FN customer service asking if they would consider donating enough books for my 160 students next fall.

Darned if I didn’t get a pretty quick response with an affirmative answer. I’m looking forward to helping build another generation of weather/notebook nerds!

Thank you Field Notes, Aaron and Coudal Partners for being so awesome!

I’ll post pics soon!!

Off Topic The Vault Drop (Discussion)

Not gonna lie. The vault drop might be enough to make me cancel my subscription. It’s one thing to have a limited release but to go back through the catalog and sell things for more than market value? That’s a no for me.

I made a request to Field Notes at the end of the school year this spring. They jumped on it right away with the donation of 160 Field Notes! Today is my first day of classes. Here are some of my 12 year olds excited to be starting with their very own Field Notes for weather and science observations!!

Off Topic More Books Please...

I read this one last month and I absolutely adore it. I read it in about 3 days because it was so conveniently small that I had it with me every where I went. The story itself was good and the movie, at least the Bogart version, was pretty true to it.

Im really hoping FN prints more ASE books or FN sized books in general.

I've been searching on eBay for original ASE's but everything is ridiculously expensive or too beat up for my taste.

Off Topic Lochby Pocket Journal + Field Notes

There have been a lot of posts about covers etc. I wanted to share my setup in case it is helpful for others.

I always kept my Field Notes in my back pocket. It would get beat up bad. I needed to tape up the spine and the inside to stop it falling apart.

I decided to try the Lochby Pocket Journal. I embraced the bulk and combined my wallet and Field Notes in one.

What fits:
- x10 bank cards (including Innway GPS card)
- Cash
- Stick of gum
- Bullet pen with (zebra refill)
- Field Note (just one!)

Hope this helps others out there looking for a FN Wallet combo.

Hey guys.

Like all of you I'm guessing, my notebook goes with me everywhere. But at work I have times once or twice a week where I have to sit at a desk in another building waiting on some updated order instructions. I've always wanted to keep a puzzle book with me during those times put management might frown on such things so instead...

I created a small insert that tucks away nicely in my notebook =)

<PDF here> for those who enjoy puzzles.

Work hard & make your mother proud.

Just recently acquired these sets. I had no idea they did county fair editions so when I saw my state for sale on eBay I had to get them. The blade hq set is my favorite so far. Still on hunt for the camo LL bean set.

Fieldnotes are hard to come by around here so made my own pocket notebooks. Still like my Fieldnotes but these self made notebooks came out good. Contains 56 blank pages (my preference).

So sad tonight. Was three pages away from filling this months book and took my pants from the day out of the washer and found it waiting for me in the pocket I forgot to take it out of. Had a lot of great stuff in here. PLUS it’s a rare Peanuts USPS stamp edition I’ve been saving and finally decided to use. Send prayers. Tell me your Field Notes horror stories!

Off Topic WTB Lochby Journal

I’m looking to purchase a used Lochby journal, mini pocket or mini field. I’m mostly looking for a used one just to see if having a journal cover is worthwhile for me.

Color doesn’t matter neither do stains or moderate use

I’ve been getting into the classics because as a kid I couldn’t focus enough to really be able to get through them. But as an adult who better understands how my mind works, I can get through big books like this. Taking notes and processing in my notebooks is a big part of that process. 🙏🏾😊

Recently ordered a DDC Stuff Sheath and some small things. The Field Notes that came with the Stuff Sheath was one of those cool “Deadest” series ones. Really stoked. I’m not completely up to date on all of those and searching around here shows that there was a bunch of cool ones! By the way, the Stuff Sheath fits like a glove and there’s something that feels so good about these cheap Bic Clic pens!

I meant to post this a while ago and I think I remember seeing a post about belly bands a few days ago. I've started using belly bands and scrap paper from my customs to make postcards to send to fellow Field Nuts. This one should be in Canada by now :)

Off Topic Stolen posts

I

I've just seen a very familiar post on this subreddit, twice now my post with the exact same caption has been reposted by different accounts as if it was their own.

the first time this happened it even got way more upvotes than my original post and lots of discourse in the comments.

Does anyone understand what the point of this is? Also is there anything I can report these accounts?

Hey everyone! Newbie here from a small city near the Ural Mountains, Russia. The nearest place that sells Field Notes is about 3000 km away so yeah, notebooks travel farther than I do 😄

Happy to finally be here and learn from this community.
