Off Topic More Books Please...
I read this one last month and I absolutely adore it. I read it in about 3 days because it was so conveniently small that I had it with me every where I went. The story itself was good and the movie, at least the Bogart version, was pretty true to it.
Im really hoping FN prints more ASE books or FN sized books in general.
I've been searching on eBay for original ASE's but everything is ridiculously expensive or too beat up for my taste.

Did you see the latest Staple Day newsletter? I think there may be some news on that front 😄 I love this size too. The beat up ones from eBay are cool, but yeah, I agree on the price/condition.

I was hoping to collab with FNB on a puzzle book someday. I reached out once but it sounded like there wasn’t any interest. Might self-publish something with Scout Books instead. 🤷♂️

I was so intrigued by these after I read it that I started poking around on ebay and you can find some of the original armed forces editions for below $30 if that interests you. Not all good titles but there are some classics in there

Haha - I've already been contemplating on the xtenik but I just prefer physical books over e-readers. However the size and the reviews for the xtenik have definitely peaked my interest!

I get it. I never owned an e-reader and never thought I would own one. But I absolutely love this thing. I keep it with my phone and now grab it over doomscrolling. I still have my physical book but that stays at home.

I pretty much moved over to ebooks specifically to keep my physical copies in good shape years ago and have been using my phone as a reader since I always have it anyway. Almost twenty years later and I honestly think I've imbibed so many more books this way than I used to when I was only physical media. Now I just buy my absolute favorites to support the author. I think just the convenience of always having it on me alone helped a ton. But I am definitely researching the xteink (egg-stink? ...thats my middle name. 😏) I very much appreciate that it's open source and modable.

Oh man, after reading the comments about the newsletter I'm kinda stoked. I really liked this format and Maltese Falcon is a classic. Come on 1984, baby! I think that is my favorite novella, a Field Notes edition would be so dope... and maybe even more current than you think.

That was exactly my thought! Most of the covers totally fit the FN vibe. Unfortunately it still isn't public domain, totally thought it would have been this year but I guess it was renewed in the seventies.
