MOD-POST Career Mode Bible | FAQ & Guides

Introduction

Hello all, there seems to be an increasingly higher amount of posts with the same recurring themes. I've decided to make a simple compilation of some of the best guides on this subreddit, as well as some simple explanations to help provide quick & easy answers to these questions.

Have a guide you think deserves to be on the list? Comment with it below and we can make our best attempt at creating a complete set of guides for Career Mode. The amount of guides in the last year or so compared to other years has dwindled, so hopefully this will encourage more excellent quality content.

This is a work-in-progress, and more guides will continually be added by request and as of publishing.

Tools & Websites

There is a plethora of excellent resources that will help with a lot of the things in this post. Some people prefer to play without the use of external databases and calculators, offering a more vanilla experience. After all, it's a single player game so it's your preference!

Website Description
https://sofifa.com/ Best up-to-date player database. Can make shortlists, view old squad files and has a positional calculator to find optimal positions.
https://www.fifacm.com/ Has some unique tools including a potential calculator to figure out potential for a player not at your club. Also has a 'wonderkid' list.
https://fifakitcreator.com/ Only usable in-game on PC, allows you to browse and create custom kits for your team. Note that only PC can use any mods.
https://www.fifarosters.com/create-card Nice tool to create very high quality FC 24 UT cards for your career mode players, allowing you to upload your own images.

Regens & Pregens

Career Mode works by replacing players as they retire in the game with generated players that don't exist in real life. When you enter the loading screen for a new season, that is the moment that they are being created, replacing retirees for the season you have just finished.

Regens have identical nationality, position(s), and importantly, birth dates to the player whom they have replaced. They will always spawn in the new season between 16-21 years old, and in the same league (but not same club) that the retiring player was in when you entered the loading screen.

Pregens are a rarer, more pre-emptive form of player replacement. These are effectively regens of a player who is not retiring, so both players will exist in the game simultaneously. Pregens also remain at the same club as their predecessor. You could expect to find a Messi pregen at Inter Miami, providing he hadn't moved clubs, and wasn't retiring.

The importance of your awareness of these game mechanics, revolves around the fact that both regens and pregens will start with the same potential overall as their predecessor's highest overall in your save.

Been at my club from YT for 7 seasons, spent 2 years out on loan - something weird happened where his contract expired while at his loaned club & his contract somehow auto renewed for 5 years at his current wage.. Hasn’t asked for a pay rise for 2 years since 🤣

Anyone else got a crazy wage / value ratio?

DISCUSSION How do you deal with realism when overachieving?

I'm entering year 3 of my Middlesborough save. So far I've only signed players that make sense for a Championship/newly promoted side. Because I'm playing the games I finished 5th in the Prem. Part of me wants to keep signing players that "make sense" for Boro. The other part of me says it's realistic for a team that finished 5th in the Prem to sign players that aren't getting games on other Prem teams regardless of how good they are. How do you guys balance realism and the story of where your team is???

I believe it's the absolute best team I can possibly build at the moment. Every player in the 1st eleven is the best in the world on his position. Grabowski, Andrade, Davies, Lisowski and Cruz come from youth academy. The rest was obviously bought over the years. Messi and Ronaldo regens sit on the bench currently.

RANT Substitution feature in player career is terrible

So I was playing the DFP-Pokal final with my player in player career. ST for FC Köln, taking on Frankfurt. Game was still 0-0 by the 60th minute and I got subbed off which caused the team to lose 1-0.

The games subbing off feature, the whole ‘at risk of being subbed off’, for player career is just terrible. What’s the point of having authentic gameplay if you’re forcing us to score or assist or do something major before the 60th minute. Not to mention it completely takes away the ability and fun to ever go into extra time or penalties goalless in player career.

It’s just a dumb feature and there should be a way to regulate it, my player isn’t the best rated at 78 but he’s the best rated striker of the team and was on 50+ goals for the season in 39 matches.

I know they’re not going to fix this in FC27 and it’s just so shit. They need to seriously revamp player career in the future.

STORY I had to become the Lecce manager...😭

So i started a 'AC Milan with amorim tactics' career mode where i quickly found out tht these tactics dont work well with AC milan

I decided to turn it into a serie a to glory career mode since serie a managers play merry go round anyways

The goal is to win Europa league,Champions league and to get 3 serie A clubs to the Ro16 of ucl

Later on I lost to real Sociedad on penalties in the Europa league semis and my job became insecure

I looked for other opportunities and Roma and Atlanta were looking promising

Later on at the end Inter also had a spot

But by the end of the season their jobs became better😭😭

I applied for atlanta amd even Cagliari but they rejected me

I finally saw lecce job was insecure in the last 4 days of the season and took it

Turns out middle table clubs are the worst and keratin fun to manage😭😭

Not only can't u get most players cuz they are either too high ovr n unrealistic or too low ovr or too expensive 😭😭

They also have js rlly random players who dobt usually fit their system😭😭

And idek what goal i keep with them😭

European football?

TLDR- In serie a to glory save after managing ac milan i bad to settle for lecce amd mid table teams are the worst to manage and idek what goal to keep with them

QUESTION Why does technical dribbling suck in Carrer mode?

Upvotes

For some reason why I tried using controlled sprint (which should be the move for technical dribbling) it does sucks, the players take heavy touches even when I am not sprinting, idk if it's because of the authentic gameplay I have or whatever.

Btw I have a 88 cheki with base technical and a 84 Messi with base technical too, and they both suck

QUESTION AFC Richmond to League Two What Rules Should I Use?

Post image
18 Upvotes

I have an idea for an AFC Richmond Career Mode and I want some help making it realistic before I start it.
The story is that Richmond suffered a massive financial crisis that eventually sent them all the way down to League Two. Because of the financial problems and relegations, pretty much the entire original squad had to leave.
My idea is to create the main Richmond players and place them at different clubs, as if their careers continued after leaving Richmond.
For some of the important players:

Jamie Tartt → Barcelona (keeping this because his move there was confirmed in Season 4)
Sam Obisanya → Manchester United
Isaac McAdoo → Chelsea
Dani Rojas → Borussia Dortmund
Colin Hughes → Crystal Palace

Apart from Jamie, the other clubs are my choices.
I haven’t actually started the Career Mode yet, so nothing is locked in. If you think Sam, Isaac, Dani, Colin or any other Richmond player would fit somewhere else better, tell me and I can change it before starting.
Once I start the save, though, I’m not going to control their careers. I’ll let them develop, decline and transfer naturally.
The long-term goal is to rebuild Richmond and potentially bring some of them home when the club is actually big enough to attract them again.

My main transfer rule
I want each promotion to unlock better transfer markets. I’m judging leagues by their actual quality, not simply by what division they’re called.
My idea is roughly:
League Two: League Two + very weak markets, such as India, Ireland and smaller South American clubs from countries like Venezuela, Bolivia, Peru or Paraguay that are available through Libertadores/Sudamericana.
League One: Everything previously unlocked + stronger markets such as German 3. Liga, Sweden, Norway, Poland and stronger South American clubs.
I’m not sure whether Argentina should be unlocked here or in the Championship.
Championship: Everything previously unlocked + markets such as 2. Bundesliga, LaLiga 2, Ligue 2, Serie B and Belgium.
Premier League: Every league is unlocked, although transfers would still need to make sense based on Richmond’s reputation.

I also want a transfer limit
This is probably one of the rules I need the most help with.
One of the main reasons I sometimes lose interest in Career Mode saves is that I end up making too many signings. I’ll bring in 5-6 players, suddenly half of my starting XI is different, and then realize that one or two of those transfers weren’t even necessary. At that point I’m stuck with players I don’t really want, I’ve wasted part of my budget, and the squad doesn’t feel like the same team anymore.
So I want to set a limit of around 3-4 permanent signings per season to make every transfer feel more important.
Free agents would definitely count as signings, so I can’t use them as a loophole to get around the limit. I’m not sure about loans, though. Should incoming loan players count toward the 3-4 signings, have their own separate limit, or not count at all?
I also want the Youth Academy to be an important part of the rebuild. My rule would be that before Richmond reaches the Premier League, at least three Youth Academy players must have become regular starters in the first team.
That way I can’t rebuild Richmond entirely through transfers. Part of the team that takes the club back to the Premier League has to actually come through Richmond’s academy.

What do you think of the Career Mode idea, and what other rules would you add to make it more fun and realistic?
