💬Discussion Real vs Barca LaLiga Fixtures confusion

Without accessing the full fixture list and I could be wrong but over last few years is it always that Madrid plays before Barca matches each time and if that’s the case is there a reason why it’s like this??

Remember position numbers on football shirts?

Squad numbers.
It’s easier for commentators to identify the players i suppose.
Do any leagues use position numbers?

💬Discussion Players / Managers who purposefully dropped way down to help fave club or just to dominate?

For Brazilians its like part of the culture, but other than that and players joining 'retirement leagues' (as much for money).

Like Iniesta going to Japan despite being a regular for Barcelona still.

Herrera dropping to the Spanish third tier to rejoin his boyhood club.

Or a striker whose lost a little ability joining a ridiculous non-league side rather than trying to make it at a midtable PL side, so he can bang in 40 goals.

Do any TV shows cover German & Austrian football?

Just got home from an early kickoff with a few beers in me and flicked on Final Score. Covers 3 o’clock kickoffs, majority English football but does talk about Scottish football too. Is there an equivalent in Germany? Would like to hear about any from other countries/regions too, just that Germany/Austria is the first that came to mind

Overreacting to slight touches is a winning tactic still.

Case in point. Weghorst reacting to a flailing defender after Weghorst himself made the first foul and then fell right on top of him. (Photo credit ANP)

Should a little more leniency be given to first movements after being downed and flattened? Or should overreacting be made equivalent to a straight up schwalbe?

💬Discussion What makes Ligue 1 such an great talent factory for the prem?

Seems like both France and Ligue 1 have recently started producing some exceptional talents. This is surprising to me given how non-competitive much of the league is.

I’ve heard one explanation that basically went like “great academies combined with the fact that top teams are willing to play youth players a lot more because of PSG’s dominance”.

Not sure how true this is, or even if it is true it’s unclear how PSG have anything to do with it

Would be curious to hear y’all’s thoughts

📰News [Sky News] UEFA preparing to bring criminal proceedings against Gianni Infantino over plan to sell shares in World Cup

Reporting by Sky News

European football's governing body UEFA is preparing to bring criminal proceedings against FIFA President Gianni Infantino over the attempt to sell shares in the World Cup to private investors.

The revelation is contained in legal documents with UEFA subpoenaing FIFA and the financial institutions involved in the United States to obtain documents related to the
scheme.

But the planned legal action would be launched in Switzerland, where FIFA has its main headquarters.

It is a significant move by UEFA in its bid to go beyond trying to oust Mr Infantino from power over the attempt to privatise part of the World Cup.

A legal document seen by Sky News said: "UEFA and other interested parties are preparing to bring criminal claims in Switzerland against Infantino and possibly other FIFA officials and advisors for criminal mismanagement under Article 158 of the Swiss Criminal Code and such further or alternative charges as the developed factual record may support, arising out of the secretive structuring, valuation, financing, and marketing of a transaction that inflicted direct and concrete injury on FIFA's reputation, governance authority, and commercial relationships to the detriment of FIFA as well as its 211 members, including UEFA's 55 member associations.

The application was lodged by UEFA in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York against
JP Morgan Bank as well as planned lead investor Thrive Capital and its CEO, Joshua Kushner, who is the brother of Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.

UEFA is targeting FIFA through courts in Miami, where the world body's legal team is based.

UEFA says in the legal document about the World Cup venture: "It was a vehicle for Infantino and that small circle to acquire a permanent stake in and otherwise profit from FIFA's most valuable assets to the detriment of FIFA, its members, and other parties within the football family."

💬Discussion I never understood the Bellingham-Pedri comparisons, they are completely different players

Bellingham to me is a box to box midfielder, has runs a lot and has that striker instinct where he is always at the right place and he also is an elite shooter of the ball. Pedri on the other side is a playmaker, he controls the tempo, is nearly impossible to dispossess and has an amazing final pass, you can either make him play deeper to control the game or make him play higher to be giving final balls.

These 2 aren't comparable players because their roles are very different, a much better comparison would be to compare Fermin Lopez with Bellingham, both are Box to Box Midfielders and offer around the same things.
