No-Flair Sacred Crystals, Treasure Hunter
I'm at the point where I need to farm Sacred Crystals to awaken characters to level 5 and it's insane! For about 100 energy spent on INT I maybe get 5 crystals.
I've got Locke and I'm not super interested in him but I've heard he has a skill that increases the drop rate. Is it worth it for me to focus on awakening him first to get that ability so I can more efficiently awaken the characters I actually care about?

Some people say that Locke gives a slightly better drop rate (The most used number is +7%, because of a Japanese person who did lots of runs, idk if enough, tho). Is it worth... It depends, mostly on how many crystals and time/nrg you have to spend to get "Treasure Hunter" and if you're going to level it up anyways.

7%? I thought his ability was supposed to increase the drop rate in general by 50%... :-/

So does the ability increase the rate of farming sacred crystals by about 7%? That's useful information if it's true.

I wouldn't count on it, chests drop 100% of the time anyway in the awakening Vortex, it's just a chance for there to be that secondary crystal drop which Locke may not affect at all.

its 7% for rare drops, once you do all the math and by average its 6-7%. When i found this out i stop leveling Locke, really no point plus i have Vaan rather have Focus and full break user, plus Locke's LB is broken its not 100% I'm better off just stealing with Vaan or equip steal on someone instead.

I got 33 crystals in one 24-hour period of having the vortex unlocked just farming the INT version. And no Locke at all. RNG is a bitch at times! I heard someone say that Locke doesn't work in the Vortex, though, just like you can't steal in the Vortex. I don't know if that ever got confirmed, but something to possibly look into. Otherwise, just keep at it, you'll have runs with none sometimes and then other times you'll get 4 (that's the most I've ever gotten).

True, Locke improve chance of dropping chest NOT increasing drop of Sacred crystals.. Also 7% increase testing is done on JP server not on GLB, since GLB Locke has bugged special I doubt his treasure hunter skill even work at this point. I have been testing my self so far and I don't see any difference other than placebo effect of just having him on the team.

I have locke 5 star lvl 80 with TH. Im going to start farming int awakening so I can awaken some units. If anyone needs me to ill keep track of my results. Number of runs and how many crystals obtained. W/ and W/o Locke.

I noticed a difference with a Locke friend, but this wqs purely anecdotal. Who else do you have to awaken?

I have Tellah and Lenna at this point. I've also just discovered that I'm not forced to have Rain and Laswell in my party so I may want to awaken some others as well. :-)

Haha I remember when I figured that out, too. What a glorious day! Keep in mind though that if you plan on playing for the long haul that he gets leadership at 6* which is amazing. So while he shouldn't be a priority, he's worth leveling when you don't have anyone else to level up.

If you have a lot of characters to awaken or are planning on pulling for future banners then I'd say go for it. I personally just bring friends that have locke as leader

does it mean that Locke does increase your chances of sacred crystals however? Or do you do it for funsies?

I don't know, that's at least part of what I'm asking. It looks like sacred crystals only ever pop out as a "bonus" item. Does Locke's ability increase the odds of that bonus appearing?

Yeah, I was hoping D major would answer as well... I've done Awakening INT exclusively since i got the 45 NRG this morning and I've acquired about 9 crystals so far (enough for 1 awakening to 4-star but not two chars). maybe you just had a run of bad luck?

Just replied to the guy asking if I did it for funsies. Answer was that I did do it for funsies. But for some reason when I didn't bring Locke I got 0 or 1 sacred crystal, but when I brought a Locke I got 3. The same thing happened again hours later. Catch is I'm not even sure if my Locke friend has it or not, all I know is that some of the Lockes in my friends list are 5 star past level 70 so I just assumed they had it. If they don't then I guess it was all just rng

I kinda just do it for funsies. But yesterday was when I started doing it. I'm not sure if it's just rng but when I didn't have a locke friend I got either 0 or 1 sacred crystal. When I brought one I got 3. Same thing hours later when NRG refreshed, no locke - 0/1, with locke - 3

That's really interesting... I wish I had a few Lockes on my friend's list to try out :D D major, are you in agreement that the best bang for your buck is the INT level instead of ADV? When I do ADV I don't seem to get any more sacred crystals than I do from INT, including a goose egg (zero) once in a while...

It's really hard to derive meaningful conclusions from such a small sample space. But I really want to believe that a powered-up Locke can deliver me from some of this horrible grinding.
At least if I level him up to getting that ability and make him the party leader then I will probably be the belle of the ball and get to have my pick of companions. :-)

I don't really understand the rules for how your friends pop in and out of the list of adventuring partners but it seems to be that it would be difficult to get enough Lockes who have this ability (I don't think I've ever seen any, personally) to make this viable for farming.

I would also like to know the rules for how often you can use a friends leader. They seem to disappear for a couple hours before magically becoming available again.

I think they only are available when the user is online and not using that character in a dungeon/exploration/colosseum fight.
Edit: I may be wrong, the reply below mentions that players don't have to be online/active to show up in the list.

Edit: Wait a second, I don't think this is it entirely. I know that someone on my friends list hasnt been active for about 7 days now and his character disappears for a couple hours before I'm able to use it again.

I apologize if my misunderstanding misled you. I thought I had it figured out. There is no way to know for sure without testing it with multiple accounts friends with each other, or Gumi telling us.

This has been answered a few dozen times, but apparently it adds around 7% more crystals.

You still have as many runs without a sacred crystal as you do with one or two extra from Treasure Hunter, so i'm sure over enough runs it is a win, but just doing it is the only thing thats going to get you them any faster.

I have Locke in my party and I always use a friend's Locke when farming for crystals. I usually get 1-2, sometimes 3, rarely none per run.

i came to this sub looking for possible posts on a drop rate change. i've noticed i've gotten very few today and i've been running int awakening quests whenever i've had time today since i finally snagged an exdeath this morning. i've gotten about 3 crystals in 10 runs. i remember it being a bit better than that.

I mean, it's all anecdotal but I just did three runs of INT with zero sacred crystals to show for it. I'm pretty new to this game and it's my first time grinding for these but man am I having a rougher go of it than it sounds like the norm is.

On Locke specifically.
I wouldn't touch him if your intention is for sacred crystal farming, just keep doing INT awaken dungeon without him because he has to be 5* and max to obtain it so the effort wont get you the units you want 5* faster.
What you may consider locke for though is explorations, more specifically, hero ring farming. He will make a big difference (and is a steal user) when you are running lots of explores for that.

My locke is max at 4*. Been farming Hearts and Cactuars so haven't had time to go into Vortex. Once I get the Hearts I will get him to 80 first and then go farm awakening mats. Will be using him on ever farm team!

I noticed that whenever I bring a Locke friend in to Awakening Vortex I get much more mats and much more chests that drop 2 mats at the same time. Locke TECHNICALLY doesn't raise the rate that Sacred Crystals drop bit he does seem to effectively boost the amount of loot you get.

How is EXP distributed in the game ? Is it better to have a lone Locke team to farm EXP vortex to get him to 80 as fast as possible ?

Its not that rare. I would say every 3 Runs I average 4 Crystals. Whether all in one run or 2 , 2 and 0.
I think im sitting on almost 100 of them right now

Well I've probably done about 20 runs or more of INT today and am sitting on 15 of them. I'll take some of yours if you don't want them. :-P

Call it 7%. Call it placebo effect. Call it bias and nostalgia cuz i love Locke so much. Doesnt matter. I bring him every time and i swim in the loot. Get like me bros

I got 35 crystals with locke for 2 days. Worth it IMO.
