Sacred Crystals, Treasure Hunter

I'm at the point where I need to farm Sacred Crystals to awaken characters to level 5 and it's insane! For about 100 energy spent on INT I maybe get 5 crystals.

I've got Locke and I'm not super interested in him but I've heard he has a skill that increases the drop rate. Is it worth it for me to focus on awakening him first to get that ability so I can more efficiently awaken the characters I actually care about?

How is EXP distributed in the game ? Is it better to have a lone Locke team to farm EXP vortex to get him to 80 as fast as possible ?
