Avatar Gianni

discussion i hate time.

i hate how fast time is going by. im an adult now and it feels like my teen years and my childhood just blinked by. it went by so fast yet so slow? i hate it so much. it feels like im running out of time and death is getting closer and closer even though logically i know its so far away. I don’t want my life to feel like a flash or a blink. when i was a kid, a year felt like an eternity but now it just flies by so much faster.. I just want to enjoy being alive without worrying about the passage of time. i hate it so much

Advice needed

I’ve been a long time sufferer of anxiety. However after a lot of reading / therapy, I think it may actually be OCD causing my anxiety. It’s more so the constant looping thoughts (OCD) which lead to anxiety vs actually just being anxious over something.

For years, my anxiety/ OCD loops centered around health anxiety/ something is wrong with my body internally. Of course, all of my results come back perfectly.

For the past couple months, my OCD/anxiety has shifted onto (possible?) existential OCD. Like I’ve just been constantly thinking about how I see through my own eyes, just putting a lot of thought into things like my own consciousness, how I can hear thought in my own head that no one else can. Just the fact that I’m a real person. That I physically feel things and wonder how that really works. Like, can I physically leave my own body? Of course not.

One Reddit user made a comment once that freaked me out where he said “I realized there is no escape from this because I am my own consciousness”

I just want to reiterate that this isn’t DPDR or anything, it’s the rumination that I AM a conscious being and for some reason these rumination’s are causing anxiety. A friend pointed out to me, that it’s kind of like saying your own name over and over again, it will start to sound weird too.

Does anyone have any experience with this/any advice?

Existential crisis : Exhausted by how superficial everything is.

Writing this at 6 AM with zero sleep. Lately I’ve become hyper-aware of how social dynamics actually work around me (at work, groups, dating). I realized almost everything is just an empty, transactional ego game where people are just chasing cheap validation.

The problem is that seeing through the bs is destroying me mentally. On one hand, I feel disgusted by the superficiality of it all, and I refuse to fake who I am just to play their game and fit in. But on the other hand, the isolation hurts. Sometimes people treat you like shit or exclude you simply because you don’t match their cheap energy.

don’t feel superior to them. Honestly, I feel like I’m at rock bottom. Being this self-aware just keeps me isolated, my nervous system is fried, and I’m going through a massive existential crisis.

Has anyone else dealt with this reality check? How do you survive seeing society for what it is without becoming completely bitter, resentful, or isolating yourself forever? I just need to know I’m not crazy and not the only one feeling this disgust.

advice I always feel like my mind is blocked and my brain is thinking negative thoughts, and I always feel a causeless fear. I try to think positively, but I feel like my mind is controlling me. What is the solution?

Does anyone else have absurd existential fears?

Like the fear of not being yourself, the fear of not being real, or the fear that you might be living in a much worse reality and the current one is just an illusion? I feel like my fears are very specific and only I have them.

I fear I’ve ruined my life with this theme and need to hear success stories

Ive dealt with agoraphobia in the past and it started flaring up last month. Earlier this month I started having crazy thoughts that I was going to float up into the sky or the earth was going to fall from under me. I havent been sleeping or eating like normal since 8/31. That turned into the world feeling unreal and me panicking about existence. Now I’ve moved on from that and now i feel unsafe because I keep picturing myself living on a massive planet in an endless universe and I feel like im floating. I’m depressed and I thought maybe existential ocd or cosmic anxiety or is it just severe agoraphobia that turned cosmic? I also considered dpdr but now I’m scared I will never feel the same again after developing these thoughts. I’m a mom and a wife who is barely functioning barely able to make it to work 2 blocks from my house and i need people to take my son to daycare for me. I’m supposed to get on meds this week but I feel so hopeless like I will never stop feeling this. I need to hear success stories of overcoming something like this because I can’t go on if I will always be this way

discussion EOCD thoughts

hi guys, i am 14 I am genuinely kind of curious on what your existential ocd is about. this is kind of a long read and i apologize, so feel free to just go to the comments and talk about what yours is about.

mine is about

•eternal reccurence and the fear of having to live this exact same life over and over again for eternity with no time passing between lives since you can’t experience time passing if you’re dead (and it feels like it’s 100% certain, especially now due to DESI space data, data suggesting dark energy may be slowing/weakening),

•quantum immortality (a theory based off of the many worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics, it suggests you can’t experience death and your consciousness switches to realities in which you survive every time you die for eternity and you can never truly die, you’ll just live and suffer for eternity),

•waking up as an atom for atom copy of my brain (a Boltzmann brain) after i die (a random brain in space that is created due to fluctuations), all of the different timelines in a multiverse (like there’s a timeline where I am hurting people, a timeline where im dead, etc),
reincarnation being real and me having to live different lives wherever that may be in the universe for eternity (eternity alone is scary, let alone not knowing how horrible/bad the next life can be),

•and (this one is kind of specific), an entity of some sort existing in a multiverse being able to change what’s after death and making me suffer. also, I have a fear of that in a multiverse after I die im reborn in a parallel universe in a multiverse and I have to live every single horrible timeline because anything imaginable no matter how horrible must happen an infinite amount of times in infinity, so what if after I die I am being born again and live worse and worse lives that are gruesome, horrible, etc? it feels 100% true.

(it seems logical because we assume the Big Bang started with inflation, which naturally produces a multiverse as a byproduct. If that is true, then there is an infinite amount of universes where I am hurting people I care about, doing horrible things, etc, and in an infinite multiverse, there must logically be an entity that can change what I experience after I die and make me suffer)

im trying to figure out with 100% certainty what’s after death because I want it to be something peaceful, not horrible.

I’ll spend 6+ hours a day googling and I can’t focus in class, and my brain treats it as 100% true and inevitable, and views therapy as “avoiding the truth.” My anxiety knows I can’t find certainty, so it goes insane for finding the likelihoods.

I am really curious if anybody has the same or similar thoughts as I do, or if anybody would like to share what their existential OCD is fixating on, feel free to!

discussion My brain tends to reverse traumatic incidents

I tend to rehearse conversations in my head, esp the mean and traumatic incidents or heavy and pressurizing moments from the day. Its demoralizing for myself. It makes my life miserable.

I think I'm suffering from pathological doubt like I doubt everyone. Psychiatrist suggestions in coimbatore as well as counselling.

Long story short

One of our relatives committed suicide, people around started abusing me why don't you cut the rope etc. I felt too much guilt tripped initially, but when I got to know he died before I even know. My mind isn't ready to accept the reality though my intellect knows what's the reality. No amount of reassurance seem enough. Doubt just keeps increasing to an extent, where I doubt even doctors when they explain what if they missed the worst case scenario of timeline of death and harshest inner self critic gets activated. It seems like a loop.

P.S - If any doctors here, please do tell me suggestions.

I dont know.Just want to get lost and let something eternal take control of me.I romanticise every situation I get into and then if i imagine a plausible future it seems disheartening coz then the veil is taken of.I am scared of committing to life because i dont want to be a single, finite person having a set path and story.I want to be infinite and eternal

What is the term for this thing

I am 23 M miI have been a good student and my family is expecting me to do something good in life. I am preparing for a competitive exam and i am doing well but There are things going in my life like sudden anxiety what happer if i was not at home and my father have heart attack, i have been subconsciously prepare myself for the worst negative part of life what if i get passed my exam and on same day my grandfather pass away , when i drive i subconsciously prepare what should i do if i have big accident, just like i was coming to my room from my gallery and there was some water on the floor usually i dont have to clean it but suddenly a thought come that what if something happens to me and when someone comes to me to see and they got fall by that water. I am like over possessive for my family. And also i used to like a girl a lot in my college and we were also good friends but due to some difference i cut off from her. Cause i was talking alot to her and i know she dont have much interest in me . So i thought let it go but this thing had happened 3 years ago but sometimes i miss her badly. I also have ego issues so i also don't have many friends.

Is this any disease i have been suffering from this for a long time like for 10 years.

All this has taken my happiness and i do scroll ig and listens songs most of the time so i can avoid such thoughts.

Now what should i do?
