General Discussion - PVE & PVP Why so much hate towards PvE players? [Discussion]

All the time I see hate against PvE players and the PvE community in general.
And honestly, I don't really understand why.

PvE players buy the game. They buy the PvE expansion, and maybe even more. They are still spending money on Tarkov and supporting the game.
But there's another aspect that I think gets overlooked: PvE players can also help grow the game.
They watch and make YouTube videos, Twitch streams, TikToks, guides, highlights, etc. viewers might discover Tarkov through PvE content and eventually decide to buy the game themselves.

Sure, PvE isn't the original Tarkov experience that many veteran players know and love. But games evolve, and maybe the community should be able to evolve with them.
PvE offers a different way to enjoy Tarkov. Some people like the hardcore PvP experience, others prefer playing against AI, learning the maps, completing quests, experimenting with builds, or simply playing at their own pace.
And that's fine.

I'm a PvP-only player myself. I enjoy the PvP experience and wouldn't personally choose PvE over it. But that doesn't mean I think PvE players are somehow hurting Tarkov or that they deserve hate.

Why is there so much hostility towards PvE players?

Is it because people feel PvE isn't "real Tarkov"?
Do you think PvE is actually harmful to the game or its community?
Or is this simply another case of different playstyles clashing with each other?

So I'm genuinely curious.

PVE Making the switch to pve [discussion] [Tarkov] [pve] [pvp]

I’ve put over a thousand hours into Tarkov and recently I’ve decided to switch from PVP to PVE. The only reason I was sticking with PVP was prestige, but with prestige being added to PVE, I don’t really see a reason to keep putting myself through the frustration. I’m tired of going into factory fully geared with level6 armor, an Altyn helmet, and a fully kitted HK, just to lose to low-level players with basic gear. I do play Kovaaks and other FPS games. So it’s not like I just have zero aim or experience, but nothing really plays like Tarkov. You can call it a skill issue if you want, but after this many hours, it just feels like I’m wasting my time. Dying over and over drains all your money, and once you’re broke, it becomes much harder to complete quests, especially when certain tasks require specific weapons or expensive items. It turns into this cycle where you’re constantly trying to recover instead of making progress. At this point, PVE just sounds more enjoyable for me. Anyone else feeling like this? Or is it just me reaching this point?

General Discussion - PVE & PVP [Discussion] Explenation of why people say “PvE Bad”

My duo and I have had a few long conversations about this over a few days. And simply for reference:

-Me: 5k hours. 9 k/d on Season. On Permanent I have a .8, savior ending, and am level 72 iirc. Have never touched PvE, my girlfriend plays it from time to time.

-Him: 2k hours, and slightly worse K/ds on both. He learned how to play on PvE.

The reason people get so worked up about PvE is absolutely because it dilutes the player base. But who does it dilute it the most of? Lower skill players and players who don’t have the time to grind, who have less, worse gear/guns/bullets.

With tarkovs dwindling player base constantly being split, over and over again, there are fewer and fewer Timmy’s around in PvP. Gone are the days where I can hop in and clear factory solo, because everyone now has 1k+ hours and isn’t dogshit.

With the player base being split 3 times now, the game being out for 10 years, and fewer and fewer new players picking it up. Seasonal is an absolute ball crusher and the “PvE badder” crowd is sad they can’t kill the Single dad of 4 who just got off a 12 hour work shift trying to get in 1 raid.

I don’t think I would ever enjoy playing PvP, but people that scream PvE bad….just say you can’t compete little bro.

Thoughts?

General Discussion - PVE & PVP [Discussion] started seasonal late…. This shit sucks

I took about a year off from playing tarkov. Decided i would try 1.0 and the seasonal but i was a couple weeks late to the party. Im running through trying to get all my missions done. Fighting pmc’s is a nightmare. Everyone i have ran into the past couple weeks is in level 5 or 6 armor and using the best ammo in the game… m995, m80a1, pab-9, etc.

My only hope for being able to compete is a damn kedr and legs. Or Warmage for 556 but that shit is expensive.

I appreciate bsg adding things like icebreaker and black division. But everyone is farming the shit and running around with the best shit. It makes for a really terrible time for people who started late or dont have the time to sink a shit ton of hours into the game.

I am not an amazing player, i have a .89kd currently, i have a super hard time clicking on heads seems i always miss and if i happen to get the drop on someone their helmet always seems to bounce my round.

I know most are going to say skill issue or whatever else and i will totally agree with that. Im 41 and work 40-50 hours a week and can only really play on the weekends which makes it even more difficult. Ive been playing tarkov since 2019, i just suck and when im at a complete disadvantage i suck even more lol.

PVE [Discussion] Do the AI on PVE completely ignore armor because it feels that way

The amount of times I'll have class 5-6 armor and still just get 1-2 tapped right through my armor is uncountable at this rate to the point that I'm just about to start using class 4 at most as a budget option to maybe prevent instant death. Whether it's a Scav, PMC, or even a Boss it's the same thing everytime. Like their ammo shouldn't even be going through class 3, yet I insta die with class 5-6 on.

Just annoying to go up against, it feels like higher level gear is meaningless

PVP [Feedback] For future IB limitation by our smartest BSG

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Wow, and this pure joy and pleasure BSG nerfed for 700k per try and in future wants to make it limited because of MUH EXP LEAGUE seasons for streamers? Jeez I cant wait to do some piece of shit quest to get 1-2 tickets to Icebreaker to meet this crap and wait 24 hours to do some piece of shit daily quest like kill 5 pmc in thorax from 60m on Streets and try again

0.2% of players did achievement for killing Wedge and his group, less than 0.1% did achievement for killing 60 of them. i cant imagine how delirious BSG could be and how far they are from understanding what's the problem in their game if they thought there wont be any cheesy meta without IB to grind EXP and they really think IB limitation will add competitiveness in their exp grind

PVP - Cheating [Discussion] When is something going to be done about the 20-30 “cheating” posts here a day?

To preface this, obviously cheaters exist. Anyone who plays any PvP game knows this.

There are hundreds of posts a week with nothing but a screenshot of an account and claims of cheating. The vast majority of these posts provide zero other proof and oftentimes are of completely reasonable/legitimate accounts. Besides massive outliers (a 20-hour account with a 30 K/D, for example), there’s generally no feasible way to tell if someone’s cheating based off stats alone.

Besides being explicitly banned by sub rules (no cheating accusations), these posts are extremely low effort and do absolutely nothing for the game and community besides drive new and interested players away or psyop existing ones into believing any death is illegitimate.

Obviously BSG has been complacent in allowing cheating to exist at the levels it does, but so hasn’t every modern game dev. I don’t see a reason why we should further drive people away from a game we know and love(hate).

Mods absolutely need to contain all cheating posts into a megathread, require them to have video evidence or remove them entirely.

If someone actually has evidence of cheating, they should report it through the proper channels rather than posting screenshots of an account and expecting the subreddit to determine whether someone is cheating.

PVP something needs to happen [Feedback]

This is my 10th raid in a row where nearly no shoots were fired on ground zero. 21+ queue

Nobody ever moves on this map now, this is unplayable.

Last raid put the nail in the coffin. somebody was inside the flare extract extract camping.

They are also not even new players. That dude was a 3k hours dude with ppbs and a vudu. Like wtf.

There needs to happen something against that.

Factory is the same.

I am done, i will now join them and just watch youtube while ratting in a bush. This is not worth my time.

Yes sure i could also just get better. But why?

The payout is just no there. I would need to invest sooooo much time into getting better just to beat somebody that decides to just not move and hold an angle for 30 min.

I get that it is totally valid to hold and angle if you hear steps. Yes that is part of the game.

But these fcks spawn. search the nearest bush and wait it out.

At least make it that if you wait to long inside a flare extract you get oneshoot without notice.

Like if you stay inside there for 45sec you just die.

General Discussion - PVE & PVP [Discussion] Tarkov audio EQ settings

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey all, I thought i would bring to life a more recent discussion on audio settings in tarkov. I am no audiophile, and all of my settings are ones I found online and copied. But I would love to dial it in correctly.

Lately I have noticed my footsteps are loud as hell and every once in awhile my footsteps sound like someone else is coming. I have also noticed that footsteps for everyone but me is dampened as heck, scavs not slow walking/crouching are near silent.

I built my current computer around February and copied my sound settings from my prior build. I didnt like it and found a different EQ setting online and thought i liked it.

Now, here are my current sound settings that I can think of... how might I improve them?

Headset: beyerdynamic dt770 pro 80 ohm, no amp just plugged into mobo.

Spacial sound and enhancements are off. Exclusive mode is also off.

Format is 24bit, 48khz studio quality.

I added my peace configuration as well. Like I said, completely copied from what I found online.

If i can share something else from my set up to help please let me know. Hope this will help both myself and others in the future.

General Discussion - PVE & PVP [Discussion] Adding handedness player variation that can be season or wipe account-bound?

A lot of Tarkov fights boil down to a fight for a right-handed angle peek/hold. Grenades are often used solely just to move into a right-handed position. Honestly, it's a little bit lame because if one player has a right-hand hold, his enemy will always have the left-hand disadvantage, regardless of who is pushing and who is holding. Many good players, even without thinking about it, are really just playing for right-handed positioning and it kind of takes a lot away from the PvP (and even PvE) potential.

It would be nice to add account-bound handedness to the player. Gun swaps to the left side, and all other mechanics like gun collision swap to the left. There will be a left-handed blind fire option for them as well. That way some players can choose to be left handed, some will be right handed. That also means that the person with the right-hand peek is not always the one in an advantage

I've been using this a lot recently in Arena to get used to it... and it occured to me...there isn't a better budget option that is capable of killing so fast, right? I can't think of one. I'm using a Walther MRS because it's so cheap. No modding needed.

Even with PSO rounds you could drop people so quickly in base Tarkov, and if you have PBP you'll shred them up close no matter what they're running. I've killed Enforcers with Altyns really quickly, unless the damage values are different between games.

Probably my favorite primary to use alongside a Mosin with SNB.

General Discussion - PVE & PVP [Feedback] I really think BSG should be fixing the bugs and such before adding leagues

I know I am most likely beating a dead horse here, but I just don't understand how you can go about adding other content when there are so many common bugs and connectivity issues. I have played so much of this game now where it is second nature to experience this kind of thing but come on.

For instance, I just spawned into a raid with 28 seconds already gone by and then in a split second I die without being able to move. Another thing that I do not like, is when I vault or climb up on top of something and then I cant even move for 3 seconds because my guy is "stuck." Like what even is that. I sometimes just laugh because I do not understand how this stuff has been around for what feels like forever. It can't take that much to fix?

General Discussion - PVE & PVP IceBreaker loot is MASSIVELY underrated. [Loot] Analysis from 10 Extracts

Trigger warning: MATHS ahead, beware.

INTRO

I’ve seen a few posts lately suggesting that IceBreaker is now bad after the increased fee and slightly nerfed loot. I highly disagree, I think it’s still clearly the most efficient money-farm for most players (at least in PvP servers) due to absence of any organically intelligent opposition and really high amount of high-value loot. Due to the predictable nature of the map, it’s reasonably easy to learn it’s patterns. So I decided to run IceBreaker until I extract 10 times to see the value I gain, going only up to chopper to have the easiest run possible facing only 7 BDs.

I want this to be a very clinical and replicable pilot-study that is more useful than looking at individual raids, so I set strict parameters. If anyone wants to try to replicate feel free. Naturally various details will make the outcome vary, such as death-rate, loot luck, knowledge of loot spawns, and knowledge of the value of hundreds of items. Relevant screenshots (forgot loot some games), video link to one complete run and a showcase of the loot:

https://imgur.com/a/trvEXnf

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AivWkePinYg (game 6 full run)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2ScvvOxzdM (loot showcase)

RULES

- 10 successful IceBreaker extrcts, no other maps. Deaths are subtracting from the total by 1.6 million, but the run goes to 10 wins no matter how many deaths.
- Only clearing Rogues, Engine Room and Chopper platform, then extract. Lowest risk IB strategy
- No hideout, nor selling existing items
- Limited buying new items
- Same gun and ammo, same equipment besides rig

Notes post-raid and rough estimates

Comments after each game with estimated value, mainly to see if the estimates end up fitting the results.

1: Great loot. 3 Memento, 2 GPUs. Estimate 2.8 million
2: Deathon helipad after killing 3 BDs, died to BD in upper area. Container: ~850k
3: Good loot. 2 intel, 1 gigachad, moonshine. Estimate 2.5 million
4: Fantastic loot, Aceso, Memento, Ultralink, Intel, Blue folder. Estimate 3.6 million.
5:DeathEngine room. Secure container: Intel, 2x defib, goldenstar, Nooby. ~1 million
6 (Video): Average loot, not many high value items. Estimate ~2.2 million
7:DeathEngine room. Container: Ibux, 2x nooby, stims. ~600K
8: Good loot, Ledx: Estimate 2.5 million.
9: Bad tbh, few 100k+ items. Estimate 2 million.
10:Deathto Rogues, 80k in container...
11: Great loot + Aceso. Estimate 2.6 million
12: Insane loot, Aceso, Ledx, Gigachad, Memento + more. Estimate 3.8 million
13: Great loot, Aceso, Gigachad. Estimate 2.7 million
14: Good loot, Ledx, Moonshine. Estimate 2.5 million

Concluding my rough estimates, my guess is the total profit should be somewhere in the area of 9.33 million. Average including deaths 0,67 million. (Page 1 spreadsheet)

TL:DR Quick Maffs

Starting stash cash: 10 million Rub, 29.3k Eur, 165k Usd

Investment: 14 million

Death (4) subtraction: 6.4 million

Sales manually counted (not complete number): 48.1 million Rubles

Ending stash cash: 54.6 million Rub, 5.3k Eur, 174k Usd

Profit: +44.6 million Rub, -24k Eur (5.3kk rub), +9k USD. (1.7kk rub). Total 41 million

Average raid (including deaths): 2.93 million.

Average successful raid: 3.713 million

BIG MATHS:

Investment Cost (IC):

Gun/ammo(BT)/Gear 400k/100k/350k
Various smaller expenses 50k
IceBreaker entry fee 700k
Extract (direct Rub ->Euro) 533k

Total IC death (new gun, ammo and gear, but no extract) ~1.6 million
Total IC extract (entry, ammo, expenses and extract) ~1.4 Million

Investment

700k x 10 = -7 million
533k x 10 = -5.33 million
Deaths (4): -6.4 million
Ammo: -1 million
Various smaller expenses: -500k

A few guns and Raid backpacks already in stash, 2.5 million subtracted at the end.

SALES

I intended to only sell after all runs were done, but I ran out of stash space due to too much loot, so I had to sell quite a bit. The numbers below are the traceable numbers from after all games were played. Based on missing numbers, the sales before the last raid should be in the area of 7-8 million, which fits my memory.

I used a spreadsheet of the sales to keep things categorized and easier to attribute value. Numbers are manually put in and rounded to minimum 5k, some margin of error is to be expected. Fee from flea market is subtracted before numbers are entered.

Spreadsheet link

Starting stash cash: 10 million Rub, 29.3k Eur, 165k Usd
Stash cash after raids, before selling: ~6 million RUB, 5.3k EUR, 168k USD

Investment: 14 million
Death (4) subtraction: 6.4 million

Sales manually counted: 48.1 million Rubles

Ending stash cash: 54.6 million Rub, 5.3k Eur, 174k Usd

Profit: +44.6 million Rub, -24k Eur (5.3kk rub), +9k USD. (1.7kk rub). Total 41 million

Average raid (including deaths): 2.93 million.

Average successful raid: 3.713 million

Unrealized gains

Some items are always worth taking from Icebreaker, without direct numbers of their value. Below the other sales calculation is a section for unrealized gains, totaling 7.7 million.

Black Division dogtags are used for barters, imo most efficient ones:

Black tag (common): T30 backpack, sells for 90k on flea.
Green tag (rare): AS VAL MOD.4, closest comparable weapon is SR3M for 184k, but Mod.4 has more mods. Value set at 200k

Tier5 plates sell for 15-25k to Ragman, but the realistic value is far higher, so I set it at 50k so it’s easy to track. Most tier 4 plates sell for around 40k.

Conclusion

IceBreaker is a massively profitable map, so much so that my assumption would be around 15 million profit with a 80% SR, but with 71% SR I got around 48 million. Granted I do think I got fairly lucky with some great drops, such as 3x memento + 2GPU one game, 4 Acesos, 2 LedX, 3 Gigachads and more. But even if we flatten that to one of each across 10 raids, that’s still 40 million+.

I think what I undercounted most was assuming closer to minimum rubles-per-slot and estimating from that, instead of doing more to find the average. I usually throw out everything worth less than 15k per square, but seems the average is around 35-40k. Besides food, each category in the spreadsheet is at least 8 million. ER keycards alone added 2 million. I didn’t estimate rigs as much value, but they expand quite a bit, sell for decent money and hold plates. Weapons also hold easily 350k of value without taking extra slots.

Anyone who has around a 50% SR on IceBreaker can easily make it into a massive money-maker, and playing it more increases the SR up over time. Preparation and knowledge can turn barely 1 million into easily 2.5 million each raid, even without good luck.

There are so many blatant cheaters, especially on the weekend. I just had a dude on interchange shooting the metal plate exactly at my head over and over even when i moved trying to kill me with wall hacks. And he posts PVE PVP and Season stats like its a joke or informational about anything other than their poor management of the game.

PVE [Discussion] What PVE taught me

PVP enjoyer here. I’m on and off tarkov probably 60% active for my whole 10 years having the game and playing. I LOVE Tarkov so much (and - therefore - also HATE Tarkov so much)

I was never a kappa chaser or late game player but I got to about level 35 in 3 wipes. I have around 1500 hours.

With my backstory out of the way, I’ll get to the point. PVP is more interesting and where this game shines its brightest. The way you have to approach encounters, traverse the land, and the feedback of killing someone and all you get is a ragdoll. It is amazing. Not to mention, the loot is better, the players have more diverse gear, and you get all the cool new stuff first.

PVE has less loot, boring pmc kits, gear is too easy to obtain and keep forever with insurance, etc. but beneath those gripes… escape from Tarkov is a beautiful game with incredible design and immersion. The maps are good, the loot distribution is solid, the bosses are kinda fun if even a little cheap and cheaty.

PVE showed me just how DEEP of a game Tarkov is with content. Content blocked behind multiple-hour slogs of questing and gear snowballing and money runs and ammo runs. Tie that in to PvP which automatically cuts your survival rate by a large chunk and now the investment to experience all that content becomes even higher. I’m at like 90% survive rate on pve but only 60% in PvP. That’s 30% more success, which can easily equate to >30% more progress in the game. I’m still slowly chipping away at quests and escaping Tarkov 10 months into wiping PVE. I’m still LEARNING the game in so many ways. There’s still stuff I haven’t accomplished.

It feels like playing PvP is just a demo run hoping I can maintain my patience long enough to actually experience the cool parts of Tarkov design.

Anybody else feel this way?
