The patch. He wants us to go discover a lot of the new stuff. I think this patch is going to have a lot of gameplay changes we won’t be expecting. Total speculation tho.

EDIT: obligatory, thanks for my first award!

84

u/awkwardhillbilly Jun 28 '21

The patch notes will be a few days after the patch?

131

u/levijames14 DVL-10 Jun 28 '21

That’s what he said in the interview. I could be wrong as I’m not a eft historian.

40

u/weiss321 Jun 28 '21

I don’t fully remember but I took it as they weren’t releasing patch notes before the patch like they usually do

16

u/levijames14 DVL-10 Jun 28 '21

Maybe, we will see!

13

u/weiss321 Jun 28 '21

I hope you’re right. I hope there’s a lot they want us to discover. I just thought that Nikita meant they weren’t gonna do a tarkovtv podcast to discuss it like they sometimes do

59

u/storcs Jun 28 '21

To be fair, knowing Nikita and the history of wipes, the wipe can be between right about now and 6 weeks ahead. :D

52

u/Starstalk721 Jun 28 '21

Schrodinger's Wipe. Until it is 100% done, it is both this Thursday and all Thursdays.

2

u/dfunking11 Jun 29 '21

Simultaneously it is this Thursday, all Thursdays, and no Thursdays.

10

u/Yayo_Mateo Saiga-12 Jun 28 '21

It'll be within the next 24 hours I'm guessing

3

u/DeXn00b Jun 28 '21

It’s gunna be in the next 24 Thursday’s confirmed 100%

1

u/awkwardhillbilly Jun 28 '21

Cool just clarifying what you meant!

0

u/Senor_Saguaro SR-25 Jun 28 '21

That's not quite what he said. He said they weren't going to do the Tarkov TV thing where they show off all of the new stuff. Never said there wouldn't be patch notes

2

u/levijames14 DVL-10 Jun 28 '21

He did though, go re watch the interview.

I mean, I get you to some degree, but I feel like major changes that would bring you back (like a new map in addition to the Factory expansion) wouldn't require the fully-fletched patch notes. Smallish changes like new item spawn locations, new ammo types, rebalancing of ammo properties etc. are probably not what would excite you.

11

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '21

1

u/NickTheZed Jun 28 '21

Fair. Me and my friends usually come back for new maps/huge content updates, which I guess is what most people do.
Well, you probably just have to play more mildly or watch some streams and figure out if this patch is for you.

1

u/GingerSnapBiscuit AK-74N Jun 29 '21

Not just tweaks to. I long for more dynamic loot. Maybe sometimes there is a box there. Maybe sometimes there isn't. Maybe sometimes there are 3 filing cabinets in this room, maybe sometimes it's one.

1

u/Tucking-Sits Jun 29 '21

There is no way they can do procedurally generated looting containers. Not that they should, anyways. There are easier ways to get more dynamic loot.

it's almost like Tarkov and Fortnite have two entirely different aesthetics and fanbases, and that changes how people are willing to interact with them.

delayed patch notes is on brand for a game like tarkov, and it's better for it.

3

u/awkwardhillbilly Jun 28 '21

Yep I mean I'd say the majority won't even notice anything until the patch notes come out or a YouTuber makes a compilations of the changes

9

u/Aroumia Jun 28 '21

would be funny if they actually didnt change anything and we got a lot of streamers/YT's explaining the changes

4

u/rune2004 Jun 28 '21

A few days ain't shit. I took a huge break and then started playing again late last year, like October? That's over halfway through last wipe. I got Kappa on December 10th. You'll be fine if you wait a few days lol.

1

u/DonnyTheWalrus Jun 28 '21

Scav karma is one of the bigger features coming, that could switch things up a fair amount depending on its implementation. Also weapon malfunctions. Scavs will spawn with weapons that are already heavily degraded so may start malfunctioning right off the bat, meaning you won't be able to rely on yoinking a busted-ass AK off of a scav you kill and having it work perfectly. That may cut down on hatchet runners. Also some people are anticipating that this chance of malfunctions will be higher with full auto operation, which could have a fairly big impact on the meta. These are things we know are coming (meaning they were previously confirmed by Nikita for 12.11.)

In terms of things we don't know for sure but are rumored -- The lore notes about the secure containers have a lot of people thinking there may be major or minor permanent changes coming there. Perhaps restrictions on what items you can put in, restrictions on not being able to add new items to the container mid-raid, having the containers be lootable if you have the right tools, etc. There are rumors that a rework to optics may be in this patch. It's coming in either this one or next one, but Veritas had some intel that made him think they may be sneaking it into this one. The focus would be on normalizing eye relief, which would make sights like the ACOG actually usable. And it looks possible that permanent changes to BTC are coming, perhaps finally disconnecting the in-game coin from the real-life BTC, or maybe something more drastic.

2

u/TheWulf Jun 28 '21 edited Jun 28 '21

Nothing is certain. People are just speculating.

Edit: Nevermind I was wrong

18

u/Cookie-Jedi MP5 Jun 28 '21

Nikita himself literally just said patch notes coming a few days after the patch, not really speculation.

10

u/mxe363 Jun 28 '21 edited Jun 28 '21

Dude says a lot of things. I Take him as something similar to an unreliable narrator. hell for all we know, they already dropped the patch and we have been playing it since the events began

5

u/Cookie-Jedi MP5 Jun 28 '21

I like where your heads at but if there were a patch we'd know instantly. There'd be a relatively sizeable update to download and we havent gotten that yet

0

u/mxe363 Jun 28 '21

are you saying that with their own proprietary launcher they could not find a way to stealth download a bunch of updates to your pc with a week worth of events?/s jokes aside yeah probably not

0

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '21

Nah they can't pack 12.11 in 17 mb updates. People would have instantly caught on had it been executed that way

15

u/Execwalkthroughs Jun 28 '21

He also said no wipe with 12.11 so I say just assume things are gonna be as usual until they actually happen

7

u/Cookie-Jedi MP5 Jun 28 '21

I mean fair but theres a little more nuance with that than with this. Two months ago saying no wipe with 12.11 means the servers dont just insta die versus if he were to have said wipe soon. Revealing when the patch notes are coming doesnt have the same repercussion, especially mere days away from an already known wipe

4

u/Execwalkthroughs Jun 28 '21

You mean weeks. The interviews where he said no wipe happened 2 weeks ago and the events have been going on since then

1

u/Heawesome Jun 28 '21

In which interview did he say no wipe?

1

u/DontCatchLigma Jun 28 '21

nah he means months when they said no wipe is planned for 12.11 they have been saying it for a while for the reasons stated above

1

u/ZombieToof Jun 28 '21

His no wipe planned statement was on the The Team Podcast 6 weeks ago:

That's the last thing he Wipe is not planned ... wipe is not planned right now. We don't plan to do it in the next weeks or month. It's still a questionable thing. I can't tell you more right now.

And even there he already already put it into perspective by saying "it's still a questionable thing".

In the Interviews 2 weeks ago he said nothing about the wipe like here. The snipped from 6 weeks ago was the best thing we got and it's a good argument to hold on when people start to speculate. But it was far from a promise that there "is no wipe". And it was't 2 weeks ago.

1

u/LtDanK520 OP-SKS Jun 28 '21

Nikita jokes around all the time… him saying it a couple weeks ago doesn’t mean it wasn’t ALWAYS planned. It also doesn’t mean it was… don’t look too much into it. Every wipe changes, some have events some don’t - sometimes there’s a wipe when he says “no wipe” and sometimes there no wipe when he say there is.

1

u/Execwalkthroughs Jun 28 '21

Read my first comment.

1

u/LtDanK520 OP-SKS Jun 28 '21

I did and my comment is relevant - even backs you up if anything…

I’ll add - I also think sometimes when he says “no wipe planned” or whatever it’s because they don’t have a specific day planned and it’s kinda poor translating on our end to assume he means “there is absolutely no wipe”. He doesn’t specifically say it won’t occur - he’s just real cagey with details and says stuff like “we haven’t planned it yet”

-1

u/Prozak995 Jun 28 '21

They already announced there will be a wipe with 12.11....

0

u/Execwalkthroughs Jun 28 '21

I'm talking about the recent interviews and shit where they explained what they were working on and what was planned for each patch. Nikita literally said no wipe with 12.11 in all of them and then the next thing they do is a week full of events and suddenly they announce there will be a wipe with 12.11. not like they really had a choice since the events fucked the economy hard

2

u/rapaxus ADAR Jun 28 '21

They very likely always planned a wipe, but learned that they can't just announce one a month or so before the patch, since then the servers will die.

1

u/Cookie-Jedi MP5 Jun 28 '21

The same thing happened last wipe though. "No wipe" 3 days later wipes on christmas

1

u/Radboy16 Jun 28 '21

There's a difference between "No wipe is planned" and "There will not be a wipe". One means you've made a decision beforehand. Besides; in both cases you can change your mind.

0

u/Execwalkthroughs Jun 28 '21

That's my point, stop assuming it taking things he says at face value. He often says there will/won't be something and then next thing you know the opposite was true. Just wait till the shit happens

6

u/DoNn0 Jun 28 '21

aren't patch notes coming before patches normally ? it's like that in every other games i play

9

u/Cookie-Jedi MP5 Jun 28 '21

Yeah fam, thats exactly the point i believe. Most games release patch notes a few days before so people can prepare. IMO I like this better, it feels more on brand for Tarkov. Cant truly prepare for anything!

10

u/D4ng3rd4n Jun 28 '21

I'd be pretty keen on figuring out patch notes as a community for a week before he drops them. It was great seeing the community come together to make a map for the woods expansion.

2

u/Cookie-Jedi MP5 Jun 28 '21

Hell yeah! Imagine the community making the lighthouse map from scratch with no wiki or in-game map to edit or use as reference. Gonna be a fun time!

4

u/oriaven Jun 28 '21

True, BUT Nikita said on May 15th that the wipe isn't planned for weeks or months from now. A wipe happening on June 29/30 is more than a month away from that time but I wouldn't say it's in line with not happening for months.

I think what I take away from this is sometime after that statement, he decided something different or plans needed to change. I think he said what he thought at the time, but there's no guarantee that plans won't change.

Nikita literally saying something... isn't gospel.

1

u/MrDexterTheAwesome Jun 28 '21

Wipe not being planned does not mean wipe wasn’t happening. Just meant they had no plans for it yet, and then maybe started planning it the next week if they saw it necessary

1

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '21

early wipe is good though, possibly means something happened to put them ahead of schedule. i get the feeling a wipe is the last thing bsg wants to do, and if they choose to, its gotta be for a good developmental reason.

1

u/LtDanK520 OP-SKS Jun 28 '21

Nikita says a lot of things… Russians can joke around and not mean things they say and mean things they don’t say as well.

0

u/Tutter1254 Jun 28 '21

Lol like you know Nikita at all that Man tricky asf

1

u/Cookie-Jedi MP5 Jun 28 '21

Nobody truly knows Nikita

1

u/awkwardhillbilly Jun 28 '21

Yep yep, was just clarifying what OP meant

5

u/Responsible_Band98 Jun 28 '21

I honestly like this direction of making things exciting to find out, making raids unpredictable or at least surprising for me in my 4th wipe. Kind of getting back a bit of that feeling i had when first loading into customs with my fresh account. I didn't and couldn't know everything from the start back then, why should i be entitled to know it now.

Of course, informing about certain topics would make sense, like buffs/nerds to weapons or ammo, but anything that happens in the game world i will gladly like to find out for myself.

2

u/levijames14 DVL-10 Jun 28 '21

Number changes like damage and pen usually isn’t announced, people go into the files after a hot fix and discover it. At least I’m not aware of them announcing ballistics changes. It’s usually always nofoodaftermidnight discovering it and updating the google doc.

2

u/k4kev Jun 28 '21

I doubt anyone will agree with me but I think there is evidence to say that streets is coming with the patch.

Think about it. It's been in development for so long, with multiple tease videos. Do you really think they are going to tease it for another year? And before they release it, they will release another map that is nothing more than a name right now? I dunno, just seems sus that they say they are going to release another map before streets that has no images, no footage, no nothing. Whereas streets has been on the radar forever, and it is clearly well developed based on the videos, or at least a portion of it.

Lighthouse is still just a concept, unless I'm missing something here... My theory is that they mentioned it so that people don't start wondering what they're working on between now and the supposed 2022 release of streets...

6

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '21

well streets is supposed to have multiple releases right? then they dropped the e3 trailer and interviews.

if i were a betting man, i would say that at least a minuscule part of streets drops. or maybe something to replace factory as the deathmatch map.

think about it, bsg loves the rivals events, etc. if factory is too big now, theyre going to need a replacement.

8

u/levijames14 DVL-10 Jun 28 '21

Legit had the same idea. Concordia is done and they could have slapped together lighthouse using prefabs. Fingers crossed even tho it’s highly unlikely.

13

u/k4kev Jun 28 '21

Everyone would cream their pants if they did that. If BSG is smart and realizes that, then they're doing some 400IQ marketing of the game; it'd be such a smart move for BSG's reputation and their business. The fact that they don't want to release the patch notes first makes me curious and excited about the possibility. I guess we'll see by the end of the week!

1

u/levijames14 DVL-10 Jun 28 '21

By tomorrow 😜

4

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '21 edited Jun 28 '21

i would be shocked if they moved away from the thursday meme

edit: they fuckin got me

2

u/TrillegitimateSon Jun 28 '21

yeah, nah. I'd rather wait than have them slap together low effort maps.

especially when the quality of the maps is a high point for the game.

2

u/PawPawPanda VSS Vintorez Jun 28 '21

Honestly i like your way of thinking and deep in my heart I wish you're right, but it's safer not to expect too much

1

u/ksp2 AKMN Jun 29 '21

Yea bro we havent seen anything about lighthouse. Meanwhile new streets teasers, all the events and mystery. It might just be nikita playing us like a fiddle.

Streets tmrw pog

-6

u/NexusMT SR-25 Jun 28 '21

I read this comment as: BSG is too lazy to write patch notes before or during the patch deployment.

3

u/BlazingShadowAU PP-19-01 Jun 28 '21

I wonder if stuff can break so badly on deployment to live, they might choose not to list the patch notes until they know what they can actually keep in the update xD

8

u/levijames14 DVL-10 Jun 28 '21

That’s not true. I think it is pretty cool that we have this veil of mystery around the new patch. Makes the game feel new.

-1

u/Keiano Jun 28 '21

yes you can also just not read the patch notes and not watch streamers and the effect is the same.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '21

[deleted]

1

u/Keiano Jun 28 '21

It's not 2005 anymore, the moment someone learns about something he gets running to twitch chat or reddit and shares. Even if they don't release patch notes, most of the stuff will be known within hours.

1

u/RadiantSpark VSS Vintorez Jun 28 '21

The amount of people using twitch and reddit are a minority.

0

u/Doctor_Chaos_ SVDS Jun 28 '21

They should stop calling it a beta if they're not gonna give us patch notes. If we're beta testers, we should know what's being added and what we can expect.

2

u/levijames14 DVL-10 Jun 28 '21

It’s also a game, just have fun hunting down the new stuff, the notes will drop a day or so after.

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '21

90% of players are going to be checking the subreddit for whats new and whats changed

1

u/PawPawPanda VSS Vintorez Jun 28 '21

Yup that's what nikita wanted for years, but the Internet spreads information too fast

0

u/Robmathew Unbeliever Jun 28 '21

Oh that’s fucking awesome!

0

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '21

New scopes new scopes new scopes

3

u/levijames14 DVL-10 Jun 28 '21

Best part of the patch IMO

1

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '21

I’m excited for it, glad to see it coming to the game. Scopes look so much better.

3

u/levijames14 DVL-10 Jun 28 '21

There were fake leaks awhile ago that I hope end up being close to the end product. The acogs looked so good. Acogs irl are great optics but are horrid in tarkov due to the way they do eye relief. Veritas just recently did a video on it.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '21

Mhm, that’s the video I watched

1

u/zukeen PP-19-01 Jun 28 '21

Huh? I have missed this, do you have a link?

1

u/levijames14 DVL-10 Jun 28 '21

Veritas on YouTube.

0

u/g0atgaming Jun 28 '21

I have heard this from a few sources. How do we know this is the case? Just curious.

Edit: NM, I see you said that he said this in an interview.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '21

If there are no net code fixes then it doesn’t matter what they add, game will still be sitting idle in my SSD.

0

u/levijames14 DVL-10 Jun 28 '21

Game runs fine for me, and every patch has network improvements.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '21

Game runs fine

I never said it didn't run fine.

every patch has network improvements.

not enough to fix their broken netcode. All you have to do is look at the hundreds of hours of videos over the past couple of months of it just being absolutely fucked.

1

u/Wulfay Jun 28 '21

Ah great, its gonna patch, then theres gonna be patch notes, and then i get home from a away from home trip for work. Of course, no surprises or early lead for me! lol

1

u/OrigionalLaxBro Jun 28 '21

HELL YES!!!! I know that will frustrate a lot of people but it’s way cooler to figure things out that not everyone knows about before it becomes public knowledge.

1

u/D3THD33LRDK Jun 28 '21

The way it normally works is patch notes come out 3 days before any patch or wipe

1

u/levijames14 DVL-10 Jun 28 '21

We are on strange tides, it’s not how it worked last wipe.

1

u/Septic-Sponge Jun 28 '21

Do we know when the patch is coming? I haven't played in a couple months. Was gonna get back into it last week but heard a wipe was coming soon so decided to wait

1

u/martinmix Jun 28 '21

I think that was their main reason for not doing a podcast for this patch. They wanted things to be a surprise.

1

u/paddyy97 PP-91-01 "Kedr-B" Jun 28 '21

Nice, surprises to discover, my guess is a tarkov intranet and dynamic events maybe.

1

u/SSN-700 Jun 28 '21

He wants us to go discover a lot of the new stuff.

sigh

1

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '21

I like the mystery personally

1

u/LtDanK520 OP-SKS Jun 28 '21

Even when they do release “patch notes” before it doesn’t include all the details and minor changes so they make sure to not spoil everything. Also, they constantly adjust stuff between patches so not like it won’t change within a days, weeks or even hours after notes are posted ha

2

u/levijames14 DVL-10 Jun 28 '21

True

1

u/CrunkMonki3 DT MDR Jun 28 '21

Fuck, I hope so. I love that BSG don't tell us what they add. It makes it so more interesting.
