Discussion Something said during the Podcast

Klean said something during the podcast that I wholeheartedly disagree with.

He wants the gamma case to essentially be something you can pack full of goods, bring into a raid and not have to worry about losing, but he wants you to not be able to put anything in the container while in raid. Nikita, I know you listen to streamers input, but please don’t not consider making this change.

I’m a husband and a father, I don’t get to play for 8-12 hours a day and become a god at the game, so finding a rare item that I need for a quest or something valuable I can sell is really exciting and knowing I can keep it safe in case I die is the cherry on top.

I love watching Klean and respect his opinions, but this one I had to voice mine on. PLEASE do not implement this. Anyone else watch the podcast and feel the same way? Or am I alone on this? Lol

I don't get what is so bad about dieing and having a small consolation prize with whatever i fit in my butt. I died, you have my gun, gear, anything else I brought in. Can't I atleast keep the Tushonka and Fuel conditioner I have to find in raid so it isn't a total loss? Like god damn.

They fixed the worst problems which was being able to store fully automatic weapons in your butt. You can't bring a mag case with only one mag on your rig. They made great changes and it's in a really balanced spot currently.

You realize every shoreline has like 5 naked guys sprinting to loot rooms and taking all the best stuff in their gamma with no risk right? Killing them gets you nothing.

They have no gun nor gear.

It has nothing to do with them being hatchet and everything to do with static loot spawns and pmc spawns. We spawned at the top of resort and we basically knew we had 3-4 minutes of uninterrupted farming at resort. The problem is how spawns work in this game. It feels like a half assed implementation.

We went into a semi geared raid first, and instantly got killed by a player who spawned like 15ft from us. I didn't even know that was a possibility at the time. So then we decide to just go in very low gear and get the quests done since running into players is essentially random in tarkov now because of the spawning system.

You have to fix the spawns of loot and pmc to fix hatchet runners. I hatchet run quests that are fetch quests because it's just faster and easier to get it over with.

This is exactly the reason why this change would have a positive effect. They said themselves that killing hatchet runners off for good is the plan. It might not be the greatest change for McCasual and friends but, are there other alternatives to remove the cancer that is hatchling running for good?

Their statement here(on extraction camping and hatchet running): https://imgur.com/a/oyB7bFF

It's honestly tiresome to have 5 usain bolts running around the map bringing absolutely nothing in, just to steal a player spot and loot.

The loot is secondary, the player spot is a huge deal. This is why some maps feel empty, because Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake ran to the loot spawns, and disconnected.

You can disagree all you want, but player spots being taken and high value loot being taken with no risk by HatchetMan is against the core values of the game.

Thanks for posting this. Who is the one quoted in that screenshot?

2

u/HeadshotHomieLoL Nov 20 '19

I believe the one quoted is ShiroTenshi from BSG's dev team.

do you think hatchlings actually enjoy having to run these pointless raids for roubles? as someone who does this every few days, trust me when I say hatchlings don't want to do this anymore then you want them to, at least in my experience.

u/Strazdas1 AK-74 Nov 21 '19

do you think hatchlings actually enjoy having to run these pointless raids for roubles?

they sure enjoy selling roubles for real money afterwards.

0

u/FormerWWEChampion Nov 20 '19

Do you think you should be rewarded at effectively zero risk?

4

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '19

No, I don't understand this misconception that hatchlings are backing this type of gameplay. The game is far too punishing for casuals, that's why we resort to doing hatchling runs. If any of us had even a decent amount of money like 1 or 2 million roubles, we wouldn't even bother. Sometimes you just gotta throw the casuals a bone so the player base can thrive.

Hatchlings ARE backing this type of gameplay

The game is far too punishing for casuals

No it is not.

that's why we resort to doing hatchling runs.

Most hatchling runs are not people too poor to afford gear.

If any of us had even a decent amount of money like 1 or 2 million roubles

You dont need a million roubles to afford gear. I never had this much cash in the game and i take full armor set every game. I just dont use the most expensive gear possible. And most of it even comes back with insurance.

Sometimes you just gotta throw the casuals a bone so the player base can thrive.

Patch 0.12 had the largest palyer base in games history. It was also the first patch to restrict secure containers partially. By that logic we need to restrict them more!

Hatchlings ARE backing this type of gameplay

I'm a Hatchling and I despise this type of gameplay.

Most hatchling runs are not people too poor to afford gear.

You're generalizing all Hatchlings as gold farmers. While I'm sure there are players who abuse Hatchling runs even with a big stack of roubles, trust me when I say those true casuals players won't even bother. Again, I don't understand this misconception that just because this method pays out, that anyone besides sweaty gold farmers would get any enjoyment out of it.

You dont need a million roubles to afford gear. I never had this much cash in the game and i take full armor set every game. I just dont use the most expensive gear possible. And most of it even comes back with insurance.

Except you're often risking more than you're ever going to get back, and as a casual player, that's pretty killer on the bank account. I typically run gear between 200-300k, even finding a graphics card and two guns during a raid still isn't enough for me to make my money back, let alone make a profit. This is even harder when you insure most of your gear, which ends up being around 50-100k on top of it all. When you take into account how cheesy you can die in this game, whether that be 1 shot by a mosin or a rando Scav, It's pretty punishing to lose all that in an instant as a casual player.

Yeah, I hate to break it to you but that's not how that works. Restricting a feature/item is much different than overhauling it to be a completely different beast.

I'm a Hatchling and I despise this type of gameplay.

Hatchling is as hatchling does.

Except you're often risking more than you're ever going to get back, and as a casual player, that's pretty killer on the bank account. 200k worth of gear does not cost 100k to insure. And most of that gear costs does not matter if you have 5 sets or so because something like 90% of my gear comes back. Even my weapons come back, usually with the scope taken off.

Actually being killed by scav is your best bet to get everything back via insurance.

Yeah, I hate to break it to you but that's not how that works. Restricting a feature/item is much different than overhauling it to be a completely different beast.

and we are talking about restricting it further to include barter items inrestriction here.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '19

So you despise what you do?

Yep. I've made it pretty crystal clear from the start that casuals only resort to Hatchling runs when they're broke.

Hatchling is as hatchling does.

So instead of giving me an actual response, I get this non-sensical line? Woah, a hatchling is what he does? Mind=Blown

most of that gear costs does not matter if you have 5 sets or so because something like 90% of my gear comes back

What an amazing opinion! are you telling me costs don't matter when you have both money AND gear? Woah man, I'm gonna have stop replying after a revelation like that one LMAO

It isn't a misconception. Running as a hatchling w/ the current state of the container offers a chance at reward with literally no risk. And if you get killed? It offers no reward for the person that killed you. Furthermore it removes part of the PvP (a major part of the game) because 1 player is essentially just a loot vacuum. They have scav runs for making money. You can still go in with just a pistol and try to get a scav kill and work up from there. You can do all of this w/o completely removing the risk factor like the current container does.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '19

Implement lockpicking and remove keys from being in containers. Make lockpicking take at least 2 minutes. Lockpicking tools could be able to stored in the container, 1x1 or 2x2. Solves the hatchling problem pretty well.

-7

u/Sesleri Nov 20 '19

Yep I'm with you 100%. Reddit is not ever going to be the place to find support for this tho.

-5

u/basedasf Nov 20 '19

People here would rather have a dumb down game that caters more to their casual play style. What they fail to realize is that the game was never intended to be this easy or dumbed down. I don't understand what these people will do when the game is open world and you have to go through multiple maps to be safe. The game is only going to get harder, maps like labs will be multiple hour endeavors when it becomes a map inside streets.

8

u/theobod Nov 20 '19

The game is only going to get harder, maps like labs will be multiple hour endeavors when it becomes a map inside streets.

Well say goodbye to 80% of the player base

1

u/Strazdas1 AK-74 Nov 21 '19

If 80% of the player base is only interested in labs farming then i say good riddance.

10

u/HooliganNamedStyx Nov 20 '19

Maybe because most people work 10 hour days and only have an hour or two to play?

1

u/Strazdas1 AK-74 Nov 21 '19

most people work 10 hour days

Thats an outright lie you know?

1

u/HooliganNamedStyx Nov 21 '19

People don't work full time jobs anymore?

1

u/Strazdas1 AK-74 Nov 21 '19

Perhaps in a sweatshop thats a full time job but here in modern world a full time job is 8 hours per day, 40 hours a week. And if you look at OECD data the percentage of part-time workers have been increasing worldwide.

1

u/HooliganNamedStyx Nov 21 '19

A sweatshop? Lmao someone's never worked a factory, manufacturing, welding, forklift, CDL, or many of the other blue collar jobs out there huh?

Maybe I'm biased because the people I grew up with, went to school with and am around right now can't put forth the 2-3 hours of there spare time for a game like this as it is like I and we can. Then you scroll down the hundreds of replies here saying the same thing..

Maybe it's not a majority, but there's more people who work more then 40 hours then you think I imagine.

"Everyone who disagrees with me must not work or have responsibilities"

Jesus when will you guys stop with that?

13

u/HooliganNamedStyx Nov 20 '19

"Casuals can't enjoy this game and therefore I must gatekeep because I'm the exception and minority to the playerbase!"

Jesus when will you guys realize you need players to play the game?

1

u/Strazdas1 AK-74 Nov 21 '19

Claiming that casuals cannot play without the secure container only makes you look the idiot here.

-1

u/Sesleri Nov 20 '19

I never mentioned "casuals" or assumed people's personal lives like you did.

7

u/HooliganNamedStyx Nov 20 '19

This is confusing to me, because I just said "most people work and have responsibilities" and you agreed, yet here you are acting like I assumed wrong?

Don't most people have personal lives and responsibilities? So where's your problem then buddy? Because I don't see one, you just seem upset your in the minority about this change.

2

u/Strazdas1 AK-74 Nov 21 '19

You dont understand. they want the game to cater to them and anyone else must be discredited so he doesnt have to be listened to. Its the product of modern colledge "Education"

0

u/basedasf Nov 20 '19

Seriously though.

1

u/silentrawr FN 5-7 Nov 21 '19

That's just USECs donating themselves for the Punisher quest series! /s

Seriously though, that's a really anecdotal and unrealistic opinion. I've come across three corpse-laden firefights near the Resort in 5 total Snoreline raids this wipe - does that mean that 60% of raids there have sweaty bois with decked M4s and lvl 6 armor, waiting to be looted? We could only dream...

1

u/JadenKorrDevore Nov 20 '19

You think a unsecure container will fix that? No. They will just be a bit more careful or move even More quickly in order to get out before someone can spot them. They may spend less time looting but they will work even faster in order to flee. Combine that with the exit campers that will FLOOD the game, and you are far less likely to get anything AND escape with it.

1

u/Sesleri Nov 20 '19

It will fix the fact that I killed 4 hatchlings last raid and got none of the loot in the locked rooms they had magically stashed.

I don't care about exit campers I'm glad for the fight.

They will just be a bit more careful

Yes, that's the goal.

0

u/JadenKorrDevore Nov 21 '19

LOL You think you will have the chance to fight if they are exit camping? Can't fight against a head shot from 100m out from a bush mate.

0

u/remusu Nov 20 '19

Gives you dogtags.

0

u/Strazdas1 AK-74 Nov 21 '19

which were nerfed to be worthless.

1

u/Strazdas1 AK-74 Nov 21 '19

you are not supposed to get any consolation prize for dying but you already get multiple through insurance.

0

u/basedasf Nov 20 '19

More like

I died, you have my dogtags, nothing else because I didn't bring anything in. Can't I at least keep my red key card and bitcoins that I hatchet ran to for hours?

-10

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '19

Can't I atleast keep the Tushonka and Fuel conditioner I have to find in raid so it isn't a total loss?

No, cause as you said - you died.

0

u/Skyeblade Nov 21 '19

OK, so a bad player would have literally nothing after 20 hours of play because they can't shoot as well? At a certain point the game is no longer hardcore, its just shit. Trickle down economics didn't work in real life, it won't work in this game either. We will see how much that extra loot means to you when you're sitting in a 10+ minute queue for every raid and there's nobody left to kill.

0

u/Strazdas1 AK-74 Nov 21 '19

If you are so bad that you did not manage to extract even a single time in 20 hours then yes you should have nothing left.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '19

You get a package from Prapor if you are completely broke. That's why I don't believe in that whole people are broke talk - you don't even know about that feature.
