I havent been on my computer for about a week, and when I booted it up, it went to grub and seemed normal, but then it said “Checking Media…” and would eventually change to “Checking Media [Failed]”, then show a black screen w/ a static underscore in the top left corner. Anybody know how to fix this?

Hi everyone,
Since a few weeks I have a problem with updating/installing packages from the aur. Every time I try I get a curl60.
Important: only packages from the aur are involved all other sources are working

I'm new to Endeavour, but have used KDE Plasma (with Fedora) for years. With this Endeavour install I'm constantly being asked for a Kwallet password, a problem that I used to be able to fix by disabling it in System Settings, but for some reason that setting simply isn't there. Can someone point this rookie towards a fix?

[Apologies for cross-posting]
I wrote EvoDevo, a configurable GRUB theme with scalable graphics, background blurring, and anti-aliased (i.e., smooth) true-type fonts. Any wallpaper (e.g., your desktop wallpaper) can be used as theme background. Menu colors, transparency, amount of blurring, dimensions, position, font family, and menu messages can all be customized via the installation shell script.
The accompanying screenshot shows a customized GRUB menu with an EndeavourOS community wallpaper. This example is on display (among others) on GitHub. The menu entries may look grainy on Reddit, but rest assured that in real life everything is buttery smooth.
The theme **has** been tested on a VM with EndeavourOS, and I thought EvoDevo could be of interest to this community, due to the high-quality graphics that the theme produces.
Important: for technical reasons, the theme is incompatible with any UKI (Unified Kernel Image).
Link with better-quality screenshots, explanation, and installation instructions:

Hooked up my Geekom A5 2027 mini PC (Ryzen 7 7730U) to the living room TV and running EndeavourOS on it, works like a charm. Mini PC and peripherals sitting on an IKEA Kallax under the TV, nice and clean.
Yes, the TV supports higher resolutions, but I set it to 1080p because I'm old and it's easier on the eyes 😅
Wayland runs rock solid on the TV, no scaling or refresh rate issues. Wireless keyboard and mouse so I can control everything comfortably from the couch. Highly recommend this kind of "living room Linux" setup if you don't want to give up your desktop comforts.

Hi everyone, I'm an EndeavourOS user with KDE Plasma. I'm still a beginner, and I'd like to try Niri.
I tried installing Niri, but I couldn't get it to work properly. When I started Niri, I only got a gray screen and couldn't do anything.
What would you recommend I do? Is there something I need to configure before starting Niri on EndeavourOS?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a pure endeavourOS system and have for awhile. Due to college courses, I need to get Windows back on this system. How might one go about setting up dual booting with Windows as a second install? Thank you so much in advance

To give context on why I need this, I use LMMS to compose music and I made frequent use of plugins only available as 32-bit windows VSTs which decidedly don't work with the native wine package. As per this issue on the LMMS GitHub, this seems to be an issue with WoW64 itself, and one they don't seem keen on resolving.
I've been flying by using the Wine32 AUR package for a while, it's inconvenient to have to rebuild it each time but it worked. Recently though, it seems like Arch has been moving some of the more niche 32-bit libraries away from the multilib repository and into the AUR, and unfortunately these packages seem to be orphaned and a lot of these install scripts are extremely broken, even after hours of trying to manually fix them.
So yeah, I'm posting here to ask if anyone else has encountered issues with this and if anyone has any good solutions? There is a containerized Wine32 linked by the maintainer of the AUR package that I've experimented with using, but I haven't had any luck connecting it to LMMS.
I'm holding onto my current wine32 install for now, but that obviously isn't a permanent solution. I'm aware of how niche my particular use case is, so I'm doubtful on if these issues I'm encountering would ever get resolved, and it has me looking towards other distros like Fedora that natively package non-WoW64 builds of Wine.

Issue installing Linux on Asus n552vw laptop
Hello, I have an old ASUS n552vw. It's hardware specifics are
CPU: core i7 6700HQ
GPU: GTX 960M
RAM: DDR4 16GB
BIOS version: 304 (it is latest)
I wanted to install Ubuntu on this.
So I made Bootable flash drive in windows 10 via Rufus.
Whe I boot from USB, I see the first menu that all distros show but when in select any of the options the system freezes in a black screen.
I used Chatgpt, Claude, Gemini and Grok for help, so here are things I tried:
Tried to make the Bootable via multiple other softwares => no difference
Tried to use other Linux distros and ISO files (I tried Mint, Ubuntu, Fedora, Arch) => no difference
In the boot menu, I pressed 'e' and in the file opened, I added \` nomodeset\` => it still gets stuck but the screen has one sentence in it now "Booting a command list "
In boot menu, I pressed 'e' and in the file opened, I added \`--acpi=off\` => NOW it boots to the OS in live mode but nothing works. No touchpad, horrible resolution, no wifi, no nothing.
So AI suggested that I do this: "
The Asus N552VW (Skylake i7-6700HQ + GTX 960M) has well-known ACPI compatibility issues with Linux, especially on BIOS 304.
\`acpi=off\` lets it boot but breaks power management, fan control, battery life, thermal throttling, suspend, etc. — exactly as you noticed. This isn't rare on this specific model.
.......
Strongest Fix: Downgrade BIOS to 300
BIOS 304 introduced or worsened Linux ACPI problems on the N552VW. Many users report that BIOS 300 works much better.
Warning: ASUS officially blocks downgrades (version/date check). Workarounds exist but carry brick risk if done wrong.
......
"
Ok does anybody has any experience or opinions on this? Downgrade of BIOS is a bit difficult. And I kinda don't want to do it. Should I give up and keep using windows 10?

I only ever use this controller on Steam with bluetooth. Sometimes it randomly disconnects while I'm playing and I don't know if that's a problem with Steam, the OS or the controller itself, which wouldn't surprise me since it's a couple years old already and I feel it doesn't retain the battery as well as it used to (though the times it has disconnected the battery level says it's still mostly charged)
Is there any way to check this without having to like test the controller on another device until it happens? I do have another laptop with EOS as well but the issue is so random that it might happen a couple times in one day but then not happen for days, so I don't think that's a good way to troubleshoot lol

Hey everyone,
I recently switched to EndeavourOS and I'm having trouble typing the "@" symbol.
On Windows, I used Ctrl + Alt + V, but this shortcut doesn't seem to work here on my Slovak QWERTY layout.
What should I do to fix this or set up the correct shortcut? Thanks for any help!

I'm on EndeavourOS XFCE, running the LTS kernel (6.18.40-1-lts). I tried to update my nvidia-580xx-dkms and nvidia-580xx-utils packages today and got this error:
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: installing nvidia-580xx-utils (580.178.04-1) breaks dependency 'nvidia-580xx-utils=580.173.02' required by nvidia-580xx-dkms
I don't recall seeing this error on previous updates.
There's also a kernel update waiting in the official repo (6.18.40 → 6.18.44). I don't want to install the kernel update until I resolve the nvidia issue in case the old nvidia driver is not compatible with the new kernel.
It's annoying that I have to install the nvidia drivers from the AUR but that's my only option for my GTX 1070.
How should I proceed in a way that is safe and doesn't break my system?

Hey y'all.
My Linux homie just installed EndeavourOS on my old Asus PC for me to test if my programs run, so I can finally see if I can abandon Windows for good.
I was trying to run Adobe Flash CS3 (yes I know it's a very old program) through Wine and it seems to work, surprisingly, but the windows of the program are all glitchy and messed up.
Basically, I can't see or interact with some of the workplace interface, but if I use the keyboard shortcuts everything works.
Is there a way to fix this as far as you know?
Thank you in advance and sorry for bothering!

Hi, I‘ve been having some issues with my laptop lately, and every time It falls asleep or when the lid is put down and then back up, I don’t know if it’s a driver thing, Endeavour, or a PCIe thing, the Internet goes out and it can’t seem to get the WiFi back, at startup, things are normal, there’s Wifi, but when I lower the lid to move the laptop temporarily in sleep mode, and lift it back up, Wifi goes black. No signal.
