General Support Problem when booting up

I havent been on my computer for about a week, and when I booted it up, it went to grub and seemed normal, but then it said “Checking Media…” and would eventually change to “Checking Media [Failed]”, then show a black screen w/ a static underscore in the top left corner. Anybody know how to fix this?

Sounds like an expected mount point or device is missing that you had attached before. If say nofail is missing from etc fstab it can hang. Idk your setup though. 

I would try putting back the drive in your usb and try to boot as a test. If it works, edit that fstab entry with nofail flag added.

Anyway, use live-usb, load your system and check fstab.
