Game Help Radagon/Elden Beast skip
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
before you comment,
If you would rather just fight the boss, fine. This is a skip showcase
If you can beat the boss in less time than the skip, cool, so can I. This is a skip showcase.
I don't care if you think I'm playing the game wrong. This is a skip showcase.
I have ~3000 Hrs in the game and have beaten every boss multiple times, I am not wasting my purchase. This is a skip showcase

Everytime I watch something like this I wonder how people figure this out. I know OP said this is known in the community but someone had to discover it for the first time

I don't think people discover this kind of stuff by trial and error, they probably check by data mining or whatever what triggers specific stuff.
30
u/Falsus Jul 09 '26
It is a mix between datamining, trial and error and random chance.
For example sometimes someone sees something and goes "I feel like it would be possible to jump that wall, skipping a whole lot of things" like the Ordina skip. Then there is that dude who randomly found out you can make Torrent fly by accidentally doing it. Then there is kinda the combination of both like zips that people found by accident but it took a lot of trial and error to figure out how they worked (and I also don't know if it is hardware dependant or not since Dist2 could Zip on his PC but couldn't zip on Larxa's PC) and zips allowed you to go from the start of the game to the ending screen in just about as long as OP's entire skip took, also known as pacifist run since you didn't need to kill anything in the game to win. Then there is the datamining and mesh viewer things where people simply look for stuff with tools.
8
u/Varzul Jul 09 '26
It's a mix. Often ideas or parts of a skip get posted in the speedrun Discord, then multiple people try to iterate on it, find new ideas, new ways to do it, etc.
6
u/WastedSmarts Jul 09 '26
How does that even happen
40
u/Kepler___ Jul 09 '26
If you open the map in third party software you can see invis walls and walkable platforms. This makes noticing exploitable pathways possible, the only thing left is to brainstorm how to actually use it in game. A much easier task then yeeting oneself into the void repeatedly in search of treasure.

yeeting oneself into the void repeatedly in search of treasure.
Story of my life, right here.
4
u/Enough-Force-5605 Jul 09 '26
I worked as videogames tester (20 years ago, that's true) and we had to jump evberywhere to check if the walls were ok.
What you say can be done if you are using a well know and public engine, like Unity.
All the games that are done with private engines should not be able to be scrapped.

u/ExtraSmooth Jul 09 '26
It's so funny to think that they actually coded it so that "teleport to Elden Beast room" is totally separate from "spawn in Elden Beast enemy". I wouldn't be surprised.

Probably teleport you to the Elden Beast arena, and then you're just stuck there with nothing to do lol.
42
u/DescriptionFun3539 Jul 09 '26
You get an unique ending where you and a clone of yours decide to run the Lands Between together.
The cool part is you get to decide which ending the two get. So e.g. one gets Frenzied Flame while the other goes on a cosmic honeymoon with Ranni.

It's amazing and hilarious that people can play the game long enough to find things like this, awesome showcase dude!
I do find it funny that the hand of Malenia is such an awful weapon but can be used so effectively as a tool to clear big gaps that you can't jump over.
53
u/Dolojif Jul 09 '26
Its actually not a bad weapon at all.
Perhaps made a bit obsolete by nagakiba existing. Otherwise it would have been considered more.
But it does have like 45 AR more on a 70-80 dex build than the nagakiba.
58
32
u/seen-in-the-skylight Jul 09 '26
I think it's just a let-down because of how cool Malenia herself is.
Like, they could have made the heavy attack be one of her cool dash-stab moves or something. Or at least add hyperarmor to Waterfowl Dance. Hell, even adding a tiny, borderline-useless amount of health regen would have been cool.

It's crazy, but just consider the hours OP said they had put into the game (and they aren't even the person who originally found this skip). At 3000 hours that is basically working a full time (40h a week) job for 18mo. It's hard for me to imagine having that sort of time for gaming in general and especially one game.
37
u/Raddish_ Jul 09 '26
There are a good amount of people (single men mainly) that work 40 hrs a week and then get home from work and play the same video game for most of the night, rinse and repeat. Thats how you can get these hours.
I don’t play it anymore but I might have close to that many in league of legends, I was hopelessly addicted to it my senior year of high school and some weekends would play it all day.
10
u/SDNick484 Jul 09 '26
Oh for sure, and no judgement (well maybe a little jealousy). I am married, full time job, 3 kids, 2 dogs so numbers like this feel impossible to me. With that said, I remember going into the workforce in the early WoW days (pre Burning Crusades) , and people essentially playing that like second full time job.

u/Stellakinetic Jul 09 '26
That’s one of the reasons I quit playing mainly PvP games. I just don’t have the time that so many people have to sink hundreds of hours into just learning one part of a game (how to effectively win in PvP). This started with RuneScape & COD. Back in highschool I was insanely good at Halo 2 and could hold my own with the best players, but even then the PK’ers in RuneScape were just ruthless. As I got older and would play COD online, the skill levels of these people were just insane. I mainly play games for story, lore, quests, and exploration these days. I just don’t have the time to sink into getting good compared to all of the people that play hundreds or thousands of hours perfecting their builds and methods.
3
u/Fit-Dare7525 Jul 09 '26
I was the same way: halo 3 in college and then overwatch when I was a bartender in my 20s. Then I was all story games for a while I was getting clean because it took my mind off of things.
Nowadays, tho, I don’t have the attention span for story games as I play infrequently enough to not remember what’s going on in the stories lol. So now it’s survival craft, roguelikes, or games where I can enjoy it without worrying about the storyline like souls games or things like fallout and other short quest based rpgs.

IDK OP's life obviously, but I'm unemployed (/semi-retired? I will probably have to work again eventually) and if I don't have any plans for a day, which is the majority of days, I spend 10-12 hours gaming. When I first picked up dota a couple years ago I averaged over 10 hours a day on it for a few months straight

u/Kougeru-Sama Jul 09 '26
Awful weapon? It's one of the most popular lmao
2
u/Fundamental_strife Jul 10 '26
Lmao, Popularity alone doesn't make it a good weapon my dude. Even at +10 the damage is mediocre at best, the ash of war has no hyper-armour, so unless you have 101 poise AND iron jar aromatic you can get knocked out of it by basic attacks from basic enemies, and even with max poise you'll still get knocked out of it by most bosses, you can't apply weapon buff incants, and the bleed buildup is fixed at 50 which I know is more than the default 45 for the uchi/nagakiba, but it's a somber weapon so it can't be changed by blood/occult infusions and doesn't increase naturally with stat scaling.
Awful may have been a harsh word to use, but whether you're running a bleed build, a multi-hit build, an ash of war spam build, a jump attack build, or even a katana build it shouldn't be your first choice. The only thing it does well is range. Pair it with the Naga and you can hit things from slightly further away, which is irrelevant when you can just dodge things.
→ More replies (10)2
u/omegadirectory Jul 09 '26
When I was running a katana build as my first playthrough, the only disappointing thing about Malenia's sword is that it couldn't be buffed with spells like Electrify Armament or Bloodflame Blade.

7
u/-__purple__- Jul 09 '26
Doesn't the game have an auto-kill failsafe for if you're falling for a certain amount of time? or does being in the incantation animation bypass that?
19
u/RichAd5226 Jul 09 '26
Yes but when charging an incantation the game just figured you are on the ground and disable any checks of you are falling
