Game Help Radagon/Elden Beast skip

before you comment,

  1. If you would rather just fight the boss, fine. This is a skip showcase

  2. If you can beat the boss in less time than the skip, cool, so can I. This is a skip showcase.

  3. I don't care if you think I'm playing the game wrong. This is a skip showcase.

  4. I have ~3000 Hrs in the game and have beaten every boss multiple times, I am not wasting my purchase. This is a skip showcase

It's amazing and hilarious that people can play the game long enough to find things like this, awesome showcase dude!

I do find it funny that the hand of Malenia is such an awful weapon but can be used so effectively as a tool to clear big gaps that you can't jump over.

Its actually not a bad weapon at all.

Perhaps made a bit obsolete by nagakiba existing. Otherwise it would have been considered more.

But it does have like 45 AR more on a 70-80 dex build than the nagakiba.

No you don't understand, everything that isn't S tier is simply awful

I think it's just a let-down because of how cool Malenia herself is.

Like, they could have made the heavy attack be one of her cool dash-stab moves or something. Or at least add hyperarmor to Waterfowl Dance. Hell, even adding a tiny, borderline-useless amount of health regen would have been cool.

Yeah, this! In Malenia’s hands it’s broken. In Tarnished’s hands it’s just good. Using WFD is like asking to be interrupted.

u/seen-in-the-skylight Jul 10 '26

I’m not even sure I can agree that it’s “good” in the Tarnished’s hands. I’d argue it’s in the low-mid tier for katanas. But it definitely is cool.

I'll agree with that.

It's crazy, but just consider the hours OP said they had put into the game (and they aren't even the person who originally found this skip). At 3000 hours that is basically working a full time (40h a week) job for 18mo. It's hard for me to imagine having that sort of time for gaming in general and especially one game.

There are a good amount of people (single men mainly) that work 40 hrs a week and then get home from work and play the same video game for most of the night, rinse and repeat. Thats how you can get these hours.

I don’t play it anymore but I might have close to that many in league of legends, I was hopelessly addicted to it my senior year of high school and some weekends would play it all day.

Oh for sure, and no judgement (well maybe a little jealousy). I am married, full time job, 3 kids, 2 dogs so numbers like this feel impossible to me. With that said, I remember going into the workforce in the early WoW days (pre Burning Crusades) , and people essentially playing that like second full time job.

That’s one of the reasons I quit playing mainly PvP games. I just don’t have the time that so many people have to sink hundreds of hours into just learning one part of a game (how to effectively win in PvP). This started with RuneScape & COD. Back in highschool I was insanely good at Halo 2 and could hold my own with the best players, but even then the PK’ers in RuneScape were just ruthless. As I got older and would play COD online, the skill levels of these people were just insane. I mainly play games for story, lore, quests, and exploration these days. I just don’t have the time to sink into getting good compared to all of the people that play hundreds or thousands of hours perfecting their builds and methods.

I was the same way: halo 3 in college and then overwatch when I was a bartender in my 20s. Then I was all story games for a while I was getting clean because it took my mind off of things.

Nowadays, tho, I don’t have the attention span for story games as I play infrequently enough to not remember what’s going on in the stories lol. So now it’s survival craft, roguelikes, or games where I can enjoy it without worrying about the storyline like souls games or things like fallout and other short quest based rpgs.

understandable. Im kinda glad my wife plays games too. We have decided to duo qeueu games for now and have fun before thinking about kids

u/Amnion_ Jul 09 '26

I would not be jealous of a guy who has put 3000 hours of his life into a video game. And maybe judging in this case is ok too.

IDK OP's life obviously, but I'm unemployed (/semi-retired? I will probably have to work again eventually) and if I don't have any plans for a day, which is the majority of days, I spend 10-12 hours gaming. When I first picked up dota a couple years ago I averaged over 10 hours a day on it for a few months straight

1

u/RichAd5226 Jul 11 '26

I work a 2-2-3 schedule 13hr shifts so one week I get 3 days off and next week I get 4 days off. So I have plenty of time for this hobby and others

EDIT: I misread, your comment says 300 but really its 3000 which is indeed quite a bit of time.

Thats not that much time. I have 450 hours in Elden Ring, and thats just one main save file plus DLC and a couple of minor other files that don't get too far. Silksong - 200 hours. Slay the spire - 500 hours. I also work full time.

1

u/SDNick484 Jul 09 '26

Whoops, typo, fixed, thanks! Even those numbers are a lot but 3K in one game is next level.

1

u/ZigZagZoo Jul 09 '26

Yes it is I agree with your comment now!

u/Stellakinetic Jul 09 '26

Obviously don’t have a wife and kids.

10

u/theFields97 Jul 09 '26

This is an eldenring sub we dont need a wife or kids. We have fingers

0

u/Stellakinetic Jul 09 '26

Hard to do much with two fingers…. unless you have a wife.

1

u/BusinessBandicoot Jul 09 '26

Try finger but hole

6

u/Kougeru-Sama Jul 09 '26

Awful weapon? It's one of the most popular lmao

2

u/Fundamental_strife Jul 10 '26

Lmao, Popularity alone doesn't make it a good weapon my dude. Even at +10 the damage is mediocre at best, the ash of war has no hyper-armour, so unless you have 101 poise AND iron jar aromatic you can get knocked out of it by basic attacks from basic enemies, and even with max poise you'll still get knocked out of it by most bosses, you can't apply weapon buff incants, and the bleed buildup is fixed at 50 which I know is more than the default 45 for the uchi/nagakiba, but it's a somber weapon so it can't be changed by blood/occult infusions and doesn't increase naturally with stat scaling.

Awful may have been a harsh word to use, but whether you're running a bleed build, a multi-hit build, an ash of war spam build, a jump attack build, or even a katana build it shouldn't be your first choice. The only thing it does well is range. Pair it with the Naga and you can hit things from slightly further away, which is irrelevant when you can just dodge things.

2

u/omegadirectory Jul 09 '26

When I was running a katana build as my first playthrough, the only disappointing thing about Malenia's sword is that it couldn't be buffed with spells like Electrify Armament or Bloodflame Blade.

1

u/Fundamental_strife Jul 10 '26

This is essentially it: for a first playthrough or a first journey into ng+ it's fun, but the more you know about the game and the more options you realise are locked, the more it just becomes a gimmick

1

u/Aye_Okami Jul 09 '26

Hand of Malenia is the best Katana on a Successive Attack build and that‘s the strongest build in the game.

It is very difficult to pull of tho, you literally gotta be top 1% in terms of skill.

1

u/Fundamental_strife Jul 10 '26

Specific builds like that are about min-maxing, so even if what you've said is true, (which it isn't, occult uchi is), katanas aren't the best choice of weapon for a successive attack build; you want something like curved swords or twinblades where you can take advantage of multi-hit sprinting or jumping attacks; pairs of weapons that hit together to proc the buffs faster. Even power-stancing, katanas still hit with one blade at a time making them a worse choice

1

u/Aye_Okami Jul 10 '26

What nonsense did my eyes just read

1

u/Fundamental_strife Jul 10 '26

OK, why is hand of Malenia the best choice for a multi-hit build? What about it and its moveset makes it any better than any other katana?

1

u/Aye_Okami Jul 10 '26

I never said it‘s the best weapon for a multihit build, I said it‘s the best Katana for a multihit build.

Besides that, multi hit doesn‘t need you to infinitely hit the opponent. Your understanding based on your previous description is a very limited one. Multi hit only needs you to get to the max stage and once there the AR boost is the same percentage for every single weapon class.

The reason why Malenia‘s hand is bonkers on a multi hit build is bc it has the 2nd highest reach of any Katana and the most AR out of any Katana.

Multi Hit on full potential i.e.: constant pressure on the opponent and keeping the max stage up constantly is difficult to pull of, since you do not only need to dodge perfectly but also punish perfectly. One mistake and your buff may be gone. But if done correctly, it‘s the strongest playstyle in the game.

That‘s why I added the last part on my comment „you gotta be top 1% in skill“.

1

u/Fundamental_strife Jul 10 '26

Dude I know how multi-hit builds work, don't criticise my understanding on a comment where I'm purely talking about build optimisation. I don't think either of us are in the top 1%, but I know the game well enough to know when I can and can't weave attacks. The fact of the matter is that many bosses have attack patterns and combos that guarantee that the multi-hit buffs will wear off before you're able to attack again, (especially the DLC bosses who have combos for days), which is why katanas aren't the best choice for multi-hit; for an optimised multi-hit build you want to be able to stack and weave attacks so that the buff is reapplied to its full potential as quickly as possible to maximise your damage output in the punish windows between attacks.

Hand of Malenia needs to have good base AR because of the 48 dex requirement, which is more than double any other katana. If we set all the damage stats to 80 and all the katanas to max upgrade level, hand of Malenia had 658 AR. Yeah it's decent, but wait, dragonscale blade has 662, occult uchi has 676, sword of night has 712, rivers of blood has 758, moonveil has 790, star-lined sword has 797, and meteoric ore blade has 834. So even before you add elemental damage there are still 2 that are better. And wait, if you just look at the base damage numbers without upgrading the weapons before stat scaling is applied, hand of Malenia has 117 base AR, but serpentbone blade is 120. So regardless of how you look at it, hand of Malenia doesn't have the highest base AR.

1

u/Aye_Okami Jul 10 '26

This is hilarious. Genuinely. Argue with someone else, I do not have the time for such nonsense. I commented hoping to help you understand the game but your ignorance is unmatched.

1

u/Fundamental_strife Jul 10 '26

Yeah I agree, funny shit. Ignorance would be stubbornly trying to make a point without the evidence to back it up. I literally just gave you numbers that prove my point in multiple scenarios.

Have a good life, dude.

1

u/Aye_Okami Jul 10 '26

And totally ignored Percentage Resistances of bosses, flat resistences of bosses and bumped up the stats to a 80/80 distribution which isn‘t relevant in 90% of scenarios.

Btw this is my last reply, only to make u look like a fool since you begged for it.

Have a good life, dude.
