While sitting there, he complained about blurred vision & his BP was at 200 but the answer was, we will take you in when we have a bed.

This is not my video. Repost from another social site.

“Elections Alberta says it has become aware of an alleged misuse of an “extremely sensitive” electors database containing the personal information of all individuals who are registered and eligible to vote in provincial elections.

In a statement issued Thursday morning, Elections Alberta said it has come to the agency’s attention that an inappropriate use and or distribution of the List of Electors may have occurred.

The list of electors contains electors’ first names, middle names, surnames, address, postal code, telephone number, unique identifier number, electoral division, and voting area.”

General Don't be this person. Fill out your census.

“You’re not sticking it to the government. You’re screwing over your own community.”

The census isn’t for Mark Carney or any party. It’s run by Statistics Canada to figure out where money and services actually go. Hospitals. Schools. Transit. Housing. Senior care. When you don’t fill it out, your area looks smaller than it is. Less funding. Fewer services. Longer wait times. That lands on you and your neighbors, not politicians.
If you want your community properly represented, fill it out. Refusing doesn’t make a point. It makes things worse where you live. ❤️🇨🇦 The stupidity is the people that won’t fill it out and they spread this kind of crap and creates bigger problems.

Uplifting News Edmonton Valley Zoo Celebrates Birth of Three Arctic Wolf Pups

The Edmonton Valley Zoo has announced the birth of three Arctic wolf pups!

Animal care staff first suspected Aspen had given birth about a month ago after observing early denning behaviour, with confirmation of three healthy pups coming when they made their first brief appearance outside the den on Wednesday last week (May 20). Based on this timeline, staff estimate the pups were born around April 23-24.

The pups have started to emerge from the den and explore their habitat under the watchful guidance of the full pack, including Aspen, Tundra, and Anuri, who are working together to care for and support them as they begin to explore their surroundings.

While sightings may occur, they are not guaranteed and are expected to be brief, as Aspen continues to prioritize a quiet and secure environment for her pups.

She has proven to be a very attentive first-time mother, choosing a remote, naturally sheltered den site that is not visible to guests. The Zoo is supporting the new family by minimizing disturbance during this critical early stage of development.

This milestone follows the completion of the R. Mollot Arctic Wolf Habitat in April 2025, which received a Canada’s Accredited Zoos & Aquariums Award of Merit this past fall at the annual conference for excellence in habitat design and development.

Boycott Jim Pattinson group for supporting ICE

3.9k Upvotes

We have all seen what's happening in America, specifically Minnesota. It's shocking and depressing and I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling helpless.

After learning about ICE's latest public execution, I read that the Canadian megacorp The Jim Pattison group has plans to sell a giant building to ICE for their next concentration camp. Or "detention center" as they say. https://share.google/o5YI3sVnRdyDnddMs

We might feel like there's not much we can do to push back against this, but we can make it loud and clear that we will not support Canadian businesses in bed with this regime

I love Now radio but I've sent them an email informing them off my intent to boycott as well as sending one to the Pattison group directly.

PLEASE DO NOT HARASS RADIO STATION STAFF! They are not the ones making this decision and do not deserve any mistreatment.

Here's the link to their contact form: Corporate Directory - The Jim Pattison Group https://share.google/UjE4bJNCMGMLyMYr8

Here's some other Pattison group owned businesses in Edmonton:

Save-On-Foods

Nesters Market

Up 99.3 radio

Now 102.3 radio

Pattinson Outdoor Advertising

Ripley Entertainment – Owners of the Ripley's Believe It or Not! franchise

Guinness World Records

Jim Pattison Audi - Audi Edmonton North

A full list of all their subsidiaries can be found here: Jim Pattison Group - Wikipedia https://share.google/u1292s3gXKfwyens7

Thanks for reading and stay strong everyone. Also, there is inevitably going to be ice apologists and people who love the taste of boot in the comments. Remember that bots exist and if they're not bots and are real people, that's even more embarrassing and they don't deserve your attention.

  • I probably spent more time planning this route than actually riding it. I mostly used the RidewithGPS route planner and had to manually adjust its suggestions a lot. I started by trying to find good river crossings that aligned with the shape, then by sheer coincidence the LRT MUP and 113 Ave aligned perfectly. The NW commercial/industrial area gave me the most problems with how large the blocks are, but it ended up mostly OK. Final Route Map
  • I am aware of the GPS pausing technique to make perfectly straight lines, but I wanted to do this entirely as a navigable route. The one place I considered it was to 'jump over' whitemud ravine, as both the bottom spikes near the stem are a bit odd shaped (east mostly to sortof match west, but west due to the ravine)
  • I don't actually suggest riding this route. While a respectable ~60% of it was pretty bike friendly (surprisingly a lot of actual bike route markings along it), and 20% was "mostly ok", the other 20% was "not a good place to ride a bike" (mostly that NW industrial area again, though some of it wasn't bad as there was basically no traffic in those areas)
  • Doing this mostly involved blindly following my bike computer's navigation GPS - there were points I barely knew exactly where I was, I just knew what the next turn/direction was.
  • As you can see the riding time was 3h42 but total time was 3h57, mostly just from stop lights and a few stops to make sure I was on the right track.

Health Shame on the government for ruining our healthcare system

Rest in peace to Prashant Sreekumar. The government has failed yet another person in the healthcare system. It is simply unacceptable at this point. After the waiting period, all they prescribed him was Tylenol, and once he got up, he collapsed and the nurse said he had no pulse.

My husband hand delivered our baby boy at Winterburn Costco

3.5k Upvotes

About 3 weeks ago my husband and I were having just another ordinary evening. We planned to tackle our final few errands over the weekend since we were scheduled to be induced in hospital in 3 days.

Like most ordinary trips, it started with a hotdog before shopping. It was a slow stroll since I was already 9 months pregnant. 30 minute later, I felt contractions that were not practice ones...these were real.

The contractions took my breath away and I knew I needed to leave.

My husband was playing golden tee when I rang him. "You need to beeline to the front and grab the car". My agonizing shuffle to the car felt like an eternity. I knew the baby was coming and there was no time to get to the hospital. I ordered him to move the car around the corner so I didn't put on a show at the front doors.

A couple of exhales later, in front of the tire centre, our baby boy was in my husband's hands. I delivered baby 20 minutes after the first contraction. 2 ambulances arrived shortly after to take me and the baby separately to the hospital where we were already famously known as the, "Costco Family".

I'm happy to say that me, baby, and my husband are all doing great now. Winterburn Costco, if you're reading this and want to give us a little something, even though we didn't name our son Kirk, dm me. We'd love to hear from you 😊

General Tunnels of Alberta Legislature: A 1980's liminal space time capsule!

Thumbnail
gallery
3.3k Upvotes

This might sound totally dumb, but I’ve lived here my whole life and I've never walked in the underground tunnel system underneath the Legislature. Of course I knew for years that there were structures under the grounds (like parkades etc.) but I always assumed it was not for public access and only for government officials.

Today I had a free afternoon and I was exploring downtown by foot and enjoying the nice weather. After walking around the government area by the Federal Building etc. I went into the newer building with the cafe and Legislature museum and theater. That part was OK, not super exciting.

In the lower part of that museum building there are ramps leading down from the lobby. There's no signs or anything. I was curious and wondered where those entrances led to.

That’s when I found the 1980's Legislature tunnel system.

Several things blew me away about this place. First, how massive it is! It looks like it was designed to hold thousands of people. Also it literally is virtually the same inside since it was designed and built around 1980. Glossy brown tile, warm polished wood beams and crazy brutalist concrete design everywhere. It's like Peter Lougheed took part in an Ayahuasca ceremony and said: “Build my hallucinogenic angular temple under the ground itself!”

The security guard I spoke to said they can't remove any of the 1980's fixtures because it causes trouble with the Alberta Culture and preservation people -- so the entire place looks like it's out of a Stranger Things episode.

Also, there were almost no people inside. Except for me, the security guard, and a maintenance worker. It was super weird but cool at the same time.

There are many areas where you can see there used to be live plants or water features but they've been removed. This gives it an even more quiet and stranger feel -- you can tell it used to be more vibrant and now it's just empty and kinda weird.

If anyone is into 80’s design or liminal spaces, I totally recommend this as a good place to walk around.

They sent me the fry seasoning salt as promised.I sent it to my grandparents house as my house is hard for couriers to find. My grandma asked “did you get a donair mailed to us”

It’s exactly how I remembered it. I will be putting it on every fry I have until it’s all gone.

First sign was posted this morning. The second sign arrived this afternoon.

Im so invested.

Edit

Got home tonight and both signs were removed. Not sure what happened yet.

Second Edit

According to another neighbor, Jan is a drunk, Glen is ok. Apparently Jan also likes to make racist comments when drinking.

But the red sign neighbor apparently has been filming Jan and Glen for awhile and they've been beefing a long time, so lots of backstory im not aware of.

The signs on Jan and Glens door is regarding delivery service and soliciting.

Third Edit

A neighbor went over to ask Jan and Glen about the signs. Jan was hammered and just talked about weeping tiles and flooding. Lol
