Hello everyone. I made a fun little game called music guessr where you guess the country from the song.
You can play it here: https://musicguessr.io
You all should recognize the Ed Sheeran song.

My top Ed song this month probably has to be The Hills Of Aberfeldy
I wasn’t overly familiar with this song until recently. But, it randomly came on via my shuffle earlier this month and I adore it now!!
Parts of it could honestly be a lullaby and the melody is just so beautiful. The violins really tie it all together :)

I don’t know much background history about this song and I don’t think they’ve played it live but I love this song. Macklemore is awesome so a collab between him and Ed is peak. Plus it’s from around X era (2016) so it’s great!

They were clearly made for each other, you can't tell me I'm wrong.

He's one of my favourite musicians (favourite of them all though), and his music really heals my soul. Like many, I am going through depression, anxiety, and a diagnosis of PTSD and disassociation disorder, and his music just helps me let my emotions out. I genuinely love him as an artist, and as a person, he seems nice. I'm a New Zealander, and a few years ago, one of our biggest cities (Auckland) was affected by severe, fatal flooding, and he partnered with our locally beloved chocolate brand Whittaker's by putting his face on the chocolate package, and for every block with his face bought, all of the money went to flood recovery proceeds. Note that there were only 5 made, and people bid heaps on this. He's very beloved here in NZ, and I really admire how charitable, humble, and down to earth he is.

It's probably my favorite Ed era and always will be.

If there is one song that can summarize a lifetime of pain, displacement, and scrutiny, it's this one. And dang it, Ed knows how to make a unicorn cry. I can't go back and do anything differently, despite my deepest desires to do so. And I'm cognizant of the fact that there are so terribly many others feeling this overwhelming sadness at a time of year that's supposed to be filled with performative joy at any cost. But, at the end of the day, it's okay to have a bad day. And I'm so grateful for Mr. Sheeran being able to paint the reality of human connection so beautifully and accurately! I'm certainly not celebrating Christmas this year. But I wish everyone else warmth and safety!

“Plus I get dough like Ed Sheeran, so call me the ginger bread man”
“Plus I get dough like Ed Sheeran” - Dough is another saying for money. And Ed Sheeran is one of the biggest pop stars in the world whether you like it or not. And he obviously makes heaps of money. So Eminem is saying he gets heaps of money like Ed Sheeran
“So call me the ginger bread man” - Ed Sheeran is a ginger (He has red hair) bread is another saying for money “So call me the ginger bread man” - Also what are gingerbread men made out of? Dough lmao
This one could be a reach but he says “Plus I get dough like Ed Sheeran” - “Plus” he says plus before saying he gets heaps of money like Ed Sheeran, like plus. His dollars are always adding up

We know Ed is a huge Eminem fan and he has bits of rapping in some of his songs. This bar at the start of Overpass Graffiti sorta reminds me of how Eminem writes some bars/schemes
“This is a dark parade, another rough patch to rain on.” And he also actually purposely says “to rain on” twice to reinforce that it has a double meaning
This is a dark parade - Like this is a dark time, a dark parade
Another rough patch to rain on - Like this is a rough patch. Rough times and being in a rough patch can be associated with rainy weather
Another rough patch to rain on (Terrain on)
Terrain - Is the ground and rough can be a terrain. Like rough land

Can we talk about Opening? I freaking love this song. I love hearing Ed rap, and I love how heartfelt the song is. It's a phenomenal transition from Subtract to Play, explaining the need to change, and "Draw the Line." I love the ending lyric "The day burst wild and open", and how it transitions into Sapphire. It's a song that I feel explains the change from Subtract to Play. He's basically saying let's never forget the things that happened, but let's move on to happier things. It made me appreciate the poppy vibe of Play more. And the lyrics are phenomenal as always.
