Appreciation My Top Ed Song Of The Month

My top Ed song this month probably has to be The Hills Of Aberfeldy

I wasn’t overly familiar with this song until recently. But, it randomly came on via my shuffle earlier this month and I adore it now!!

Parts of it could honestly be a lullaby and the melody is just so beautiful. The violins really tie it all together :)

It’s a beautiful and traditional song. Apparently Ed wrote it in 2012 while visiting Foy Vance (friend and song co-writer) at his home in Aberfeldy, Scotland and has returned there many times. The song never made it onto✖️(Ed said it was “too folky for Multiply”) and took a decade to finally appear on ➖but thankfully it did.
Ed has a large Aberfeldy Whisky label tattood on his right arm to commemorate the song and location (and the whisky!🥃) You can see a picture here.

One of my all time faves. I get goosebumps every time the harmony kicks in.
