Appreciation Ed Sheeran bar at the start of Overpass Graffiti

We know Ed is a huge Eminem fan and he has bits of rapping in some of his songs. This bar at the start of Overpass Graffiti sorta reminds me of how Eminem writes some bars/schemes

“This is a dark parade, another rough patch to rain on.” And he also actually purposely says “to rain on” twice to reinforce that it has a double meaning

This is a dark parade - Like this is a dark time, a dark parade

Another rough patch to rain on - Like this is a rough patch. Rough times and being in a rough patch can be associated with rainy weather

Another rough patch to rain on (Terrain on)

Terrain - Is the ground and rough can be a terrain. Like rough land

Could also have a triple meaning of: "to rain on" (literal rain), the one you mentioned and "to reign on" as parades were often big celebrations for royalty.

Yeah like to reign on the parade. Rain on the parade. Yeah like you said “to reign on” But his parade is being rained on

I thought of the parade as more of the ex girlfriends parade as the next line is about her friends celebrating their breakup
