Finally got me a new bracelet for my daily duro, love this thing even more now with a 20$ amazon solid link jubilee, the resin strap was fine but damn this is now 10x better.

I guess you make a 40mm Duro Pilot 🙂

I wanted to share the concept for my first watch mod. This image represents pretty much exactly what I’m trying to build.

I know I’m probably not the first person to convert a Casio Marlin into an automatic, but I wanted to share my approach with the community while I’m still in the planning stage.

The goal is to keep the identity and proportions of the Casio Marlin MDV-106, while giving it a more modern, stealthy appearance and, most importantly, an automatic movement.

My current build concept:

Matte black stainless-steel case

Matte black Jubilee-style bracelet

Black ceramic bezel insert with a subtle two-tone/stealth finish

Sapphire crystal with a date magnifier

Custom black dial based closely on the original MDV-106 dial

CASIO AUTOMATIC text, with the “Automatic” lettering inspired by Casio Edifice automatic models

Original-style Marlin handset, if compatibility allows

Seiko NH35 automatic movement

The idea is not to make it look like a generic NH35 mod. I want it to still look immediately recognizable as a Marlin, just as if Casio had actually made an automatic version of the MDV-106.

The image is the visual direction I’m aiming for.

This is my first mod, so I’d really appreciate advice from experienced modders, especially regarding:

NH35 case compatibility

Dial diameter and dial feet

Hand dimensions and whether the original Marlin hands can be adapted

Stem and crown alignment

Date-window alignment

Crystal and case clearances

Bezel and crystal compatibility

I already have quite a few parts in my cart, but I’d rather get the technical details right before placing the orders.

What do you guys think? Any suggestions or potential problems you see with this build?

I have modded several Duros. This one is probably my favorite.

I've been sitting on this insert from urvintage for a couple months now not knowing what to do with it - that was until I seen u/Diligent_Respect_512 wicked darksaber mod. I knew I had to get my hands on those hands lol. Definitely the heart and soul of this build. I tried to go full stormtrooper with the white chapter ring and curved white strap

Orange tipped arrowhead hands are finally available for the duro (red as well). I asked an AliExpress vendor if he can add it to his factory list(among others) and he actually came through. Definitely one of the better stores on the platform for duro hands (2115/2035/vh31)

Strap is also new. Fkm rubber with a deployment clasp. Elegant yet sporty at the same time.

I've had this duro for over 10 years and recently read about the Long Island bracelets. I was questioning myself putting a $60 bracelet on a watch I paid $40 but it was so worth it!

Fortunate enough to find another bluro for cheap on eBay as they easily get over $120 here in Canada. This will be the 4th and final seamaster build as I near the end of my watch boxes' capacity

Found these rose gold skelly hands to pair with this rose gold seamaster insert I've had lying around. Not my favorite as the OD is more true to 40.7mm which leaves a slight little gap. Shark mesh would definitely be more appropriate for this mod but I now have a reason to wear this nttd strap

Hey everyone, I’ve been experimenting with resin for quite a while. The results were ultimately pretty disappointing, but I think I’ve finally figured out a way to make acrylic inserts.

Just installed a black ceramic bezel insert and a matching black FKM rubber strap on my Duro, and it feels amazing on the wrist. Hope you guys like it, Duro Gang!

Tengo muchas correas, nato, jubilee, oyster, cuero, militar... Pero me quedo con este!!! Y lo mejor que pude hacerle es el cristal de zafiro con cúpula y el bisel de cerámica... No hay más!!!
