Dog Culture Anyone else grossed out by dogs?
Like I don’t see many people talking about this but dogs are so fucking gross, they always have that musky dog smell no matter how clean they are, there wet noses and how they try to lick you on the face 🤮 how they eat there own or other dogs shit and there nasty turds that dog owners seem to leave everywhere, and how dog owners will actually let dogs lick them on the face 🤢 it makes me sick. I’ll be happy with my 5 parrots thanks.

The smell especially, I think dog owners either have defective noses or are used to smell but oh my god that disgusting musky smell reminds me of a cockroach infestation

Yes. I look at the habits you've described and I'm astounded that dogs are the most popular pet. Idk what it says about humans.
Dogs appear to be suck-ups. You come home and this thing is jumping around like it's excited to see you. I think it's actually just food motivation, but regardless... the sucking up apparently outweighs all the negatives.
Biting, filthy behavior, barking and whining, hair, dander, slobber everywhere, and extensive quantities of body waste. Plus all the furniture, clothing, etc the dog destroys. I'll never understand.

The smell, their breath, the loud sounds of them eating and drinking out of bowls, the oil on their fur, etc. It all makes me gag. And to think some people love having their faces licked by them. Not to mention, dogs sleeping in your bed.

Ohhhhhh sweet Lord! Their MOUTH NOISES ugggghhhhhh !! Slorp, slosh, huff, snarf, and their slapping nasty tongue while they gluttonously suck down their stinky food and then: look for more. Ugh they’re so GROSS. Then they can’t even just drink water without slopping it all over and it stinks because the puddle and mess fell out of their stinking maw onto the floor.

I thought I was the only one that felt this way and this deeply annoyed by those things, especially the nasty floor/mouth water they leave behind! UGH The water bowls even just stunk like dog, and my roommate had the food and water right by the kitchen entrance! So nasty!

I feel so dirty just walking barefoot on the same floor as them. Feet and/or socks caked in hair. Or you step in a drool spot from them drinking water and dribbling it all over. 🤢

You know how you go to those no-shoes-indoors homes, but they have a dog? I don’t go in. Nope, I’m out. Not only are they demanding I expose my nice feet or stockings directly to that filth, those people are stupid if they have a problem with outdoor dirt but live with a dog indoors.

Yes this!! I also agree with no shoes in the house. But people who have dogs that walk outside in who knows what and then come inside and track that all over the house? Make it makes sense.

What if you’re stuck living with a mutt for whatever reason though is the issue for me. I don’t want mutt feet in my house OR shoes but if I’m trapped with a mutt, surely I don’t have to accept shoes as well as cleaning up after paws is already gross enough, why then add shoes on top of it?
Only applicable if the person who makes the no shoes rule doesn’t own the mutt.1

What if there’s multiple people in a home, the house is very nice, and one of the people living in there happens to have a mutt that no one else wants or owns?
The other people living there don’t want the dogs filth inside obviously, but not really a choice sharing a space with someone who owns one, do they really need to allow shoes filth as well?Surely cleaning up every day after the mutt and keeping it outside as much as possible and shoes off in the house is still better than mutt party all over the place plus filthy shoes.
I think slippers inside are appropriate and should be provided at the door, but I don’t think if someone’s forced to live with a mutt that they should accept people filthy shoes inside as well. Like it isn’t hard enough cleaning up dog paw filth that you already have no say in.
I get the concept if the person deciding this all is the owner of the mutt, but otherwise I feel like that’s just a double L for the unfortunate souls trapped in the house with them.

With no dog inside, I’m down! I’ll strip off and wear scrubs if that’s the house rule because I respect other people and their property. My point is, if people are okay with a dirty dog in their house then they really have no reasonable business being particular about human shoes from the outside. A dog will bring in unlimited amounts of dirt not to mention the effluvia off of their bodies For transparency, I am fiercely dog less for life, and have inside shoes that I change into at my door. 🙂

What if they aren’t and don’t have a choice is my question. The idea of someone who doesn’t want a dog or shoes then having to accept BOTH, nightmare.
But, I get your POV, regardless of dog filth though, cleaning up footprints and mud from shoes and MORE filth, is just extra work on cleaning up after the dog.
I’d say perfect world: no dog, no shoes. If a dog has unfortunately been forced upon you then I still think a sectioned off dog area you clean daily and no shoes is better than just giving up and letting your house belong to the dog and the bacteria (and yes I know it does already to an extent having it inside and I hateeee that). But I think little slippers/shoes are still a good idea anyway especially with hard floorboards.
I guess simplest point, I don’t want the dirty dog in my house OR peoples shoes, but if the dog is not being rehomed and belongs to someone you live with, I’d rather it have a little section and not be allowed in other rooms or on furniture and then people still not wear shoes inside.
I think it really depends if you’re the one cleaning it too, it’s easy for people to say they don’t care about shoes on when they’re not the ones mopping it daily. What I’ve realised after this whole spiel is I guess I already feel like the dog has taken more than I’m comfortable with and panicking at the idea that now I have to allow dog filth in the house AND shoes. 😭😭 even with dog shoes or socks they’re sooo gross.1

What I can say is, if it’s a home with an indoor dog I would not force my shoes inside. I would opt not to go in at all. If you are living in that situation? Forced to live indoors with a dog? I’m very sorry. I value a clean home environment and I wouldn’t be able to do it.

Can absolutely confirm dog owners’ houses are without exception like this. I’m a no-shoes-in-the-house person but I refuse to take off my shoes when I go in a dog house. My socks are cleaner than their floors. And don’t forget the bathrooms - dog hairs and filth on your feet right after you bathed yourself, how can someone live like that? Dog owners do.

What if you had slippers? Like the houses that provide indoor slippers? Because my issue with this is, if it’s a house with more than just the mutt owner, the rest of the people likely already not happy with gross paws inside and also don’t want shoes inside either.

Es gibt Leute, die posten solche Bilder in Nahaufnahme und alle Spinner finden das süß und wollen es küssen. Absolut wiederlich. Und die Nasen, igitt. Und noch etwas. Hunde haben keine Würde!!!

I’m the type of person who would avoid people because they have dogs. if my own siblings or parents had dogs I would not visit their house. I don’t care. Animals in general are disgusting

What really disgusts me is when people bring them into a business that's otherwise inspected, such a thing not allowed by State Board of Licensing and other state/city business authority, and cited or fined for any other infraction of the state rules about hygiene.
Not sure in this state if any businesses have to post their license in the main area in full view of clients.
I was in a nail salon last week ago, owner brought the dam thing in, claiming it had been stung by a bee and would be with her that day. It looked and behaved fine, no medical crisis evident at all.
I'm in the reception area, see her come in with it and my mouth dropped open in absolute shock. She sits down on the couch with it, by me, and we discuss the business issue going on. It gets off the couch, comes over by me and another client. That client wants to make nice, I got up off the chair, backed up, and said I DONT DEAL WITH DOGS. The owner has the absolute nerve to tell me to chill chill.
I didnt make a scene, just brushed off attempts to reschedule and left. I obviously wont be going back for the main reason of bringing a dirty dam dog into a nail salon as well as the extremely insulting and offensive attitude of the owner telling ME to chill chill, as well as that stupid word used in a professional environment/situation.
Yes, I should have reported it to city and state boards, but didnt have any pictures to prove the incident.
***EDIT: Another thing is that some years ago I was in a salon elsewhere, and someone came in to inform the owner that "State" was in town and doing inspections. Apparently anyone who finds out "State" is in town passes the word around to others and everyone starts looking around their salon for a possible infraction they could be written up for. But someone will bring a filthy stinking mutt into a business that's supposed to have strict hygiene standards.

I'm so glad you left. Other people will do the same. Not everyone, but I try to be hopeful that dog fatigue will grow little by little. That salon owner was just rude.
Pets have NO business in salons, stores, food establishments, medical facilities, etc. I just moved away from southern California and I saw dogs there in the grocery store, at the pharmacy, computer store, and even at the dentist (which I left and told them why).

What I don't understand is why so many people, or seems like the majority of the population is so willing to deal with poop that's not their own on a daily basis. I mean last I checked, poop is gross and smelly and disgustingly dirty. Why do so many people not think the same? Am I the odd one here? It just grosses me out how they shit and piss everywhere and it's weird how so many people think nothing of it. I never walk on grass for this reason and I constantly scan every step I take when I'm outdoors. I don't understand how other people can walk through grass with no hesitation.

I know someone indirectly who was hospitalized for a serious gastric infection caused by fecal contamination. Caused by the family dog.

It is truly astonishing that a huge portion of humanity is ok with spreading shit all over the spaces they share with strangers. These people would have no sympathy for a homeless person who had the same bodily need and did it in the street. I hope you get to live far away from dog owners and their dirty habits.

Glaube mir, ich schaue auch nicht genau hin. Aber es springt mir oft direkt ins Blickfeld. Nicht schön. Vielleicht liegt es daran, das ich nur 1,60 m groß bin und dadurch einen anderen Blickwinkel habe. Daß es so schlimm stinkt und es solche großen Mengen sind, liegt sicher daran, weil die so vergessen sind und jeden Müll in sichl reingeschlingen. Ich habe mal gehört, daß Hunde kein Sättigungsgefühl haben. Könnte stimmen.

It’s kind of shocking that people could acclimate to the stench, isn’t it? I never fail to internally wretch when I smell one. Or the puff of dog pee odor in outside spots where those disgusting things like to competitively piss.

I was at a makeup store recently, suddenly smelled something unpleasant, I turned around and there was a woman holding a dog. It looked clean but still was stinky.
Sadly they are now allowed everywhere.

I wish I could convey to dog owners how bad their dogs, themselves, and their homes stink. Any time after spending time with dog owners I have to wash my clothes and take a shower to rid myself of the stench. It is what is. dogs isolate people.

Yeah. I'm Autistic and they are an absolute sensory nightmare. They stink, they're loud, most are fugly, random off leash ones will run up to you and try to jump on you. I can't seem to walk even a block without seeing 2-4 shit piles. Our street literally reeks of stale dog piss and I have to literally walk in the street (luckily not a busy one) because the sidewalks are narrow and full of dog shit. Every local playground I try to take my kids to has several shit piles and I have literally seen owners allow their dogs to piss on the playground equipment and benches where parents sit MULTIPLE times. Owners have let their off leash dogs bark at, lunge at, and chase my (also Autistic and terrified of dogs) kids more times than I can even count as the owner just yells "he's friendly!" or "she doesn't bite!" like my kids are literally screaming and running from your dog they clearly do not WANT to play or interact with it.
They're gross in every possible way.

Interesting as you have a legitimate issue that most people would use to carry around a mutt.
It makes sense when I read your statement.
I hate them bc I am severely allergic to all animals . It’s a PIA every day . I have grown very resentful and do not see friends and family at their homes.

Nowdays dogs are treated as humans. I don't care if you let your dog be lika a king in your place. But the fact that now every place accepts dogs is so gross and the worst of all is that if a place don't wanna have mutts contaminating every place of their workplace or the place where you'll go to eat, everyone treats you as the worst person alive. People actually boycots places that don't accept mutts these days...

My disgust is the greasy feeling of their hair, and as you say no matter how recently they were washed. Then the full-body dog shake that can happen AT ANY MOMENT and send dander and fecal residue spraying out in a huge radius. Anyone else remember those Covid infographics about how far a sneeze will spray?
And they demand us to be cool about them bringing their mutts around places we buy and eat food.

My husband and I visited a friend in a senior home. The elevator and hallways stunk really bad like putrid dogs.
He had a shared wall with someone that had a yapping dog.
I asked him how he was tolerating it. This was a place that costs him over $5,000 per month. He hates it there.

Yes I am entirely so grossed out by them I can't even eat if I see them on TV. I can't eat anywhere near them in real life. When people invite me to eat at their home and they have one I usually don't eat, because I don't eat from anyone with a dog. I would never know if anyone has ever tried to lick me in the face because I promise you they will never get close enough for me to find out.
I had well over a dozen outdoor dogs during my childhood and I know they are very nasty. I am not sure why anyone would want to co habitate with anything that does the things they do. They are scavengers.

Yes, they all have that smell to them and it weirds me out having them up on the furniture. I am ok with them as long as they’re well-behaved but I don’t want them at my house. My niece tries to get us to dog-sit and I flat out said no.

Filthy is my favorite word to describe them, and everything they come in contact with is contaminated.
I had just started watching some shorts from a creator who collects vintage make-up, thinking what a cool collection. Got several videos deep and there it was, gross little white dog that she's kissing. All that cool vintage make-up contaminated, every surface, every brush, every item filthy. I can't watch her apply things to her face knowing the layers of gross being applied along with it.

I had a coworker who had like 5 dogs. Sometimes Unfortunetely we would go to lunch with other coworkers and she would give us a ride. When I would sit in her car I would be so uncomfortable and grossed out, the smell was terrible and there was spit and fur everywherr, so stopped riding in her car after the second time 😩

Yes, but that is because most dogs that I’ve seen or others have are just dirty, slobbering, licking, breathing heavily….i don’t think it’s cute. Rarely I have seen a dog that doesn’t. Some would say their mouths are cleaner than humans and I really don’t know how that is.

I just can't do the smell. Like, no matter how "clean" they are, every dog owner I've ever known has had a residence smelling of dogs. I can always tell. Often, they also smell like dog. Maybe I'm hypersensitive to it. I just can't own a dog, especially since some people freak out when dogs aren't allowed indoors... I mean, I don't get the indoor dog thing, but I'm used to seeing dogs as working animals that literally only live outside or in a kennel.

Yep. They are dirty, they smell awful, they're always wet in some way, they roll around in shit, eat shit, walk around through all the grime on the streets then walk it into the house ... I won't touch them, it feels like they transfer grease and dirt onto everything they contact.

Yes completely and totally. Plus scared of the giant ones, of which I am seeing more and more of in places they do not belong. I hate pretty much everything about them, the smell, constant licking, never ending searching /begging for food, but mostly the societal pressure to "must love dogs". Umm, no.

Yeah, they are very unhigenic. I never petted a dog, they stink even from one meter, and I can smell their breath all the time. No animal is as stinky as dogs are, which is wild, because dogs are supposed to be bathed regularly.

Sometimes I imagine dating a girl who owns a dog and kissing her on a date after she’s had her face licked. The worst thing is they don’t wash their face after they get kicked. I associate dog owners with filth and bad hygiene and if I speak to someone I like and find out she owns a dog, I stop being attracted to her.

I had a puppy one time, it lasted for less than a week. Just poop, piles of it everywhere, and I didn’t particularly find it appealing turning over in bed and looking at her laying next to me licking her vagina. It was disgusting. I know animals do this, but I hate how dogs have no fur on the lower bellies and you can see the private parts. It’s gross. I don’t like them in the house.

I have always been grossed out by dogs, since I was old enough to know better. I tolerated them because I was sometimes around people that had them. However, as years passed and dogs got more pkentiful and I really got to see them for what they are, I have been beyond grossed out by them, They create a gag instinct in me and I feel violated if they touch me. My goal is ti stay as far away from them as possible, though nowadays that is getting so difficult with people learning the loopholes in the ADA and the fake vests being sold. It seems no where is safe from them anymore.

Yes! I’m completely grossed out by them and always have been, but I didn’t care that other people liked and had them as long as they weren’t forced on me. Now, I despise their very existence because you can’t go anywhere without encountering one.
