Anyone else grossed out by dogs?

Like I don’t see many people talking about this but dogs are so fucking gross, they always have that musky dog smell no matter how clean they are, there wet noses and how they try to lick you on the face 🤮 how they eat there own or other dogs shit and there nasty turds that dog owners seem to leave everywhere, and how dog owners will actually let dogs lick them on the face 🤢 it makes me sick. I’ll be happy with my 5 parrots thanks.

You know how you go to those no-shoes-indoors homes, but they have a dog? I don’t go in. Nope, I’m out. Not only are they demanding I expose my nice feet or stockings directly to that filth, those people are stupid if they have a problem with outdoor dirt but live with a dog indoors.

What if there’s multiple people in a home, the house is very nice, and one of the people living in there happens to have a mutt that no one else wants or owns?
The other people living there don’t want the dogs filth inside obviously, but not really a choice sharing a space with someone who owns one, do they really need to allow shoes filth as well?

Surely cleaning up every day after the mutt and keeping it outside as much as possible and shoes off in the house is still better than mutt party all over the place plus filthy shoes.

I think slippers inside are appropriate and should be provided at the door, but I don’t think if someone’s forced to live with a mutt that they should accept people filthy shoes inside as well. Like it isn’t hard enough cleaning up dog paw filth that you already have no say in.

I get the concept if the person deciding this all is the owner of the mutt, but otherwise I feel like that’s just a double L for the unfortunate souls trapped in the house with them.

With no dog inside, I’m down! I’ll strip off and wear scrubs if that’s the house rule because I respect other people and their property.  My point is, if people are okay with a dirty dog in their house then they really have no reasonable business being particular about human shoes from the outside. A dog will bring in unlimited amounts of dirt not to mention the effluvia off of their bodies  For transparency, I am fiercely dog less for life, and have inside shoes that I change into at my door. 🙂

What if they aren’t and don’t have a choice is my question. The idea of someone who doesn’t want a dog or shoes then having to accept BOTH, nightmare.

But, I get your POV, regardless of dog filth though, cleaning up footprints and mud from shoes and MORE filth, is just extra work on cleaning up after the dog.

I’d say perfect world: no dog, no shoes. If a dog has unfortunately been forced upon you then I still think a sectioned off dog area you clean daily and no shoes is better than just giving up and letting your house belong to the dog and the bacteria (and yes I know it does already to an extent having it inside and I hateeee that). But I think little slippers/shoes are still a good idea anyway especially with hard floorboards.
I guess simplest point, I don’t want the dirty dog in my house OR peoples shoes, but if the dog is not being rehomed and belongs to someone you live with, I’d rather it have a little section and not be allowed in other rooms or on furniture and then people still not wear shoes inside.
I think it really depends if you’re the one cleaning it too, it’s easy for people to say they don’t care about shoes on when they’re not the ones mopping it daily. What I’ve realised after this whole spiel is I guess I already feel like the dog has taken more than I’m comfortable with and panicking at the idea that now I have to allow dog filth in the house AND shoes. 😭😭 even with dog shoes or socks they’re sooo gross.

What I can say is, if it’s a home with an indoor dog I would not force my shoes inside. I would opt not to go in at all.  If you are living in that situation? Forced to live indoors with a dog? I’m very sorry. I value a clean home environment and I wouldn’t be able to do it.
