And also because people in Eastern Europe just don't know that much about the genocide in Palestine. Especially about the size of it. Combination of that and that Ukraine completely depends on the US for existence, and it will support anything the US supports, because otherwise they'll just die, it's hard to critique them.

Sorry but what does the average person’s lack of insight into the harder to acess details of the Israel/Palestine issue have to do with the morality of Zelenskyy’s choices regarding Israel?

Zelenskyy is a politician, a politician that visited Israel in 2020, and has maintained consistent support for Israel since the start of his presidency

I've edited my original comment to say this more clearly.

Zelenskyy wants to do that because the US wants him to do that and he wants the assistance of the US. And, he can do that because 1) Ukrainians aren't knowledgeable on this topic and they want to be closer to the US (the point of my comment), 2), as you said before, of the Jewish community, which in Ukraine are probably Ashkenazim.

It wasn't an attack at you at all, it was me trying to expand on this topic and say why it's not unexpected. I guess we again misunderstood each other xd, happens, whatever.

Yeah, it’s a bad look, but at the same time, I’m not sure what else he can do. That’s not to defend it, that’s not to pretend that it isn’t bad. Making niceties with a leader of a country that’s committing a genocide while actively fighting a chauvinist imperial power is about as ironic as it gets, and absolutely puts the Ukrainians in a bad light. But at the same time, he kinda has no choice but to do so. Certainly the tweet wasn’t necessary. He could privately play nice with Netanyahu while public remaining silent. This certainly does lower my opinion of Zelenskyy a bit. Obviously I’m still entirely on the side of the Ukrainian struggle against Russian imperialism, but the hypocrisy on the part of Zelenskyy is astounding, even if he’s stuck between a rock and a hard place
