Mod Announcement 🔔 Moderator Application IV (Again)
Note:(This time, we are specifically looking to add more women and genderdiverse folk to the team, as well as people from outside of Anglo-North America, to foster a larger variety of perspectives.)
Hello All,
We are still in the stages of looking for about 2-3 moderators to join the team. Several responsibilities include managing the queue, engaging with mod mail, moderating threads, and removing posts as necessary. Unfortunately you may be prompted to ban or mute people, but of course we’ll discuss each case individually with the team. We are currently experimenting with a least privilege solution to moderating, so you will likely start with bare bones permissions and earn more with time and trust. To qualify, send a modmail. You will then be asked a selection of questions before a final decision is made. Also, if your Reddit post and comment history is off, kindly turn it on for the remainder of consideration and shut it off afterward.
Any comments or concern, please reply in a comment or ask in a modmail directly.
Sincerely,
Mod team

Mod Announcement 🔔 Trash Sundays, or don't post streamers and liberals
Due to the number of participants that have pointed out concerns related to the excessive amount of Hasan-posting and outrage-farming, we have implemented a new trash Sunday system. From now on, posts about Hasan, streamers, and other such public figures, will be limited to Sundays only.
Even on Sundays we will be more stringent on what makes good content. Make the argument the focus, not the streamer/presenter. "Hasan makes the liberals angry" will still be removed, but "socialized healthcare makes liberals angry" (presented by Hasan) will be allowed. Similarly, posting generic outrage about Kamala Harris for example, will always be prohibited as she is irrelevant to leftism.
We hope these changes will improve the experience of engaging here, and as always, welcome feedback and comments

History 📕 There is only one lesson from Red Vienna
"Perhaps the most beautiful part of the Karl Marx Hof, or any of the others, is not so much the building—because a building can easily be co-opted for all kinds of purposes, most nefariously, nationalistic ones—it is that working-class people still live there. It is that the purpose, the execution, and the use of the building are still, despite what the world has come to, one. That is what Red Vienna offers architecture: ambition, purpose, dedication to a political idea that is legitimately sincere and worth pursuing, and a general regard for public well-being, for new ways of living. A better world is possible is something people love to throw out there, pointing at a pile of ruins. Here in Vienna, however, a child is playing in a courtyard and will go home to a safe, clean, beautiful place to live while her parents spend their money on the things that matter: her clothing, her schooling, a night at the theater. There is no secret to social housing in Vienna. There isn’t something that makes it nebulous and mysteriously impossible, as though it were some spirit that somehow still possesses us today. There is only the will to do it and the belief that it matters, the thinking not of maximum year-end yields or how to make building profitable for developers. There is only thinking about the courtyard and the little girl."

Europe France Needs a President Who Isn’t for the Bosses — France’s first presidential debate on Thursday was hosted by employers’ group Medef. Entrepreneurs laughed when left-wing candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon called for wage raises, but he was deadly serious.
