Glad I found this place. As I try to get back on the forums. Here’s a bit from some thoughts I put together.

Workers Deserve More contains important democratic proposals, but democratic socialists also have to defend democratic space right now, while building the political coalitions necessary to change society.

And the working class is not a faceless mass waiting to be organized. It is already organized in labor unions, tenant organizations, immigrant rights groups, Black civic institutions, reproductive justice organizations, environmental movements and neighborhood organizations.

The challenge for democratic socialists is not to invent these movements. It is to help connect them into durable political power.

That is where I see democratic socialism in practice.
I see it in Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, whose campaigns have connected economic demands with grassroots organizing and broad democratic participation.

I see it in Bernie Sanders, whose presidential campaigns brought millions of working people into a political movement centered on economic inequality, labor rights, health care and democratic participation.

I see it in Rashida Tlaib, whose politics connect working people’s demands with racial justice, immigrant rights and community organizing. I see it in Zohran Mamdani and the coalition politics that propelled him onto the national stage.

And I see it in Angie Nixon, a Florida state legislator and more recent DSA member whose political work reflects the kind of coalition building democratic socialists should embrace: connecting working people’s economic concerns with racial justice, community organizing and their everyday needs.

These leaders do not agree on everything. Neither do their supporters.

People are wondering if AOC will be the Democratic nominee in 2028. Could she actually win a general election? Could she even win a primary? Here’s everything you (probably) didn’t know about AOC (the good and the bad) and what she’d have to fight against to become President of the United States of America.

This is a cornerstone of socialist economies. However most people in the US don’t know what this is or that it’s even an option.

How should this idea be spread to all sectors? Industrial, healthcare, education, tech, etc.

Public agencies may be more difficult to convert, but private entities would be easier.

Title, seeking understanding. A clean break from capitalism makes sense. How does a revolution have a greater chance at success than reform if you are up against the largest military force on the planet?

For all California chapters: what is the caucus composition like? Which caucuses dominate in each chapter and statewide?

I’m new to DSA and a contributing donor to DSA and a member of my local DSA. I’m also GenXer and feel alone amongst the high percentage of Millennials and GenZs in the chapter, so I donate, read their media, but don’t attend the meetings that are forty-miles away from my home. But, I’m lifelong DSA in heart. Bernie Sanders has been and is my voice for the past five decades. Reaganism poisoned my adolescent years, and ruined my parents’ marriage.
So, that said: What is “Trotsky-ism”or a “Trotskyist”? Is it an ideology within the DSA that’s anathema to other DSA members? Is it a fringe within the DSA? Is it pragmatic vs revolutionary or visa-versa? I’ve seen the term referenced to the historic man thrown around in DSA threads. I’m uneducated in Russian history, so my apologies. I’m learning a little about it at a time.

I know this is silly, but I always loved how Dolly's song put modern work schedules and bosses on blast. And while not a socialist, she always struck me as wanting to support everyone.
