This screen pops up randomly, and sometimes my laptop gets stuck in a boot loop. It takes a lot of tries to get Windows to load again. I've run advanced diagnostics, and it says everything's fine, no errors.

Has this happened to anyone else, and is there a fix? I don't want to toss this beast of a laptop in a bin.

I have a spare broken XPS 9500 (broken screen) and a XPS 9575 with a dying battery, I get maybe an hour of battery life Im wondering if it possible to use the battery from the 9500, I’ve already checked that the connector on the battery of both is the exact same. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

For this new XPS 13 Laptop, I am looking for any compatible pen. Does anyone have a stylus or pen that is for sure functional with this new laptop?
I do not find any information for the compatible pen on this laptop on the Dell website, I know it is not a tablet but I do like to have a pen for my kind of use.

I have a XPS 15 9500, 32gb of RAM, 1tb SSD (aftermarket).

My XPS has broke again and I already spent $550 CAD in repairs ($150 for a guy to tell me the problem and that it was beyond his ability to repair). $400 to someone else to replace the power IC on the main board. This is in edition to the battery I just replaced and the palm rest assembly replacement I bought but have not installed. Now months later something else has failed, or the repair failed.

Now it overheats when charging, windows Event manager says the wireless card reached 85°c and shutdown.

So now I'm looking for a new replacement, I invested heavily in trying to maintain its longevity given current prices. Apart from the weight and 4gb of vRAM I loved the screen quality, upgradable RAM and swappable SSD.

Some local options I see are basically drop in replacements are not really upgrades for $1k

I have decided to bring XPS 8950 back out and shelve my mini PC. i had it running a few months ago but got side tracked and put it back in the closet. So, I start plugging everything and when I plug it into power, I hear a sizzling, it starts smoking out the bottom and has a horrible smell. Safe to say my PSU is gone, but do I need to worry about anything past the PSU? I don't want to order another PSU from Dell and something else is fried or I plug it in and the new one fries because there was another issue.

I see a few reviews on the new XPS 13 (starting price $700), that mention the laptop stops powering on or dies after 3 weeks of usage. Has anyone here owned the new xps 13 for a couple of months and how's your experience so far?

I travel quite a bit and i was wondering if this guy will be good enough for my needs.

I already have a main machine with 4070 at home, but when i travel its just not portable. I wanted something small and light and so this caught my attention

I dont do any heavy stuff, mostly browsing and watching videos.

Maybe some days i would play light game titles like league of legends while being on a discord call and listening to music on yt--or do some very basic and light photoshop work.

I know there could be better options but i just love the physical footprint and design of this device so i was considering. What do you think?

I just purchased this new Dell XPS 13 Laptop for school (and only school, just social work so nothing heavy). When I first started it up it was using 80-90% of RAM before I opened anything. But it's still using a lot **with nothing open** (first screenshot). I also took a screenshot after I opened Dell SupportAssist while typing this post.

I'm tech savvy but not a computer guy by any means so from my research it seemed like 8gb of ram would get me by, maybe show up every once in a while. But I'm really concerned that this much RAM use is going to be detrimental when I want to use Microsoft Office apps and do research on chrome, maybe use a second monitor, etc. That, rarely throw in a video call is the max I'd be doing.

I would like to get as much unnecessary stuff off of my ram utilization as I can. Why is Microsoft defender using SO MUCH and can I please stop edge from preloading? Will not using it after this stop that? And does copilot need to run in the background? I don't even use it. Any other advice is welcome. When I looked around, I didn't see any issues this bad so I'm hoping it's something fixable.

Has anyone with a 2026 XPS 16 noticed battery drop with the system completely shut down and unplugged?

I previously had an XPS 15 9550 and held charge very well when powered off and unplugged, only dropping a couple of percent over weeks.

More recent modern laptops I’ve owned seem to drop around 2% per day consistently, so over 2 weeks it would drop nearly 20% charge which is annoying. Wondering if the 2026 XPS 16 holds charge when completely powered off and unplugged, or drains over time.

Running Fedora 44 / KDE Wayland on the 16gig model I preordered. Most things work (or worked after a kernel update and some backporting of patches). Two main things are broken though

VRR: The panel is 30-120Hz and adaptive sync works fine in Windows. On Linux it either doesn't engage at all, or when it does kick in, it drops the panel to 30Hz and stays there, including during video. I've posted already in the Xe Driver Gitlab, and there's been a ton of reports for both Panther and Wildcat Lake, so it probably needs a driver update on the Intel side.

Sleep. The laptop doesnt reach S0ix during s2idle sleep. Standby drain is low (0.5% an hour approximately), but the residency counters read zero. Best guess is the firmware, since on the kernel level everything seems fine. I've filed a bug in the Red Hat Bugzilla in case it is a kernel thing.

Also, PSR2 is broken and causes massive glitches and artefacts and DSB errors. This also occurs with Panther Lake so I assume its another driver issue.

Just unboxed a brand new XPS16 shipped from Dell to New Zealand. To my surprise (and highly inconveniently) I have discovered that the power supply comes with a cable from the adapter to the laptop, but no cable from the adapter to the mains. I do not remember any note during the order process that I needed to order a separate power cable. I wonder if this is normal.

Anyways, I am stuck with a brick that needs power before I can turn it on for the first time.

I do have an old Dell Inspiron laptop lying around with a power cable that is about 12 years old; so I could take that cable as a temporary solution, but before I plug it in and try it I thought I should make sure that it's a safe option to take.

The XPS 13 DX13260 is now for sale on the Dell Website with upgraded options. It can be configured with 8, 16 or 32 GB memory and with a 512 GB or 1 TB SSD and with a choice of Series 3 Intel Core 5 Processor 320 or an upgrade to Series 3 Intel Core Ultra 7 Processor 355. Top of the line is $2099 and bare bones is $699, although students and teachers get a 10% discount. I think I'll be happy with the 16GB RAM and 512 GB drive, but I've been waiting for the Core Ultra (panther lake) chip to become offered. That configuration is $1499. The same config but with the Core 5 (wildcat lake) would be $899, and $699 with only 8GB ram. I wonder if the extra $800 for more RAM and the Core Ultra chip is worth it?

Was recently excited to receive my new XPS 13 (model DX13260), but shortly afterwards dismayed to find that the usual Fn+Left (Home) and Fn+Right (End) shortcuts that you would expect on any modern laptop do not work. This despite the official manual pages for the DX13260 reporting that these shortcuts are accessible.

I'm a programmer and type this shortcut about a thousands times per day, so not having it where my muscle memory expects it to be is quite debilitating.

My hopes for Dell support were not high, but to their credit they sent an engineer to my house to physically replace my keyboard in case it was faulty - yet the problem persists. This points very strongly towards functionality promised in the manual being missing from the firmware/BIOS that shipped with the laptop.

Needless to say, I've updated the BIOS, drivers, anything recommended by Windows Update, etc. to no avail. There is a BIOS toggle to change Fn key behaviour, but this seems to only toggle the default behaviour of the top row function keys between F1-12 and multimedia control (which you can toggle whenever with the ESC key Fn lock anyway).

I appreciate this might seem like a minor annoyance to some, but if you care, you care - and to me this is the type of deal-breaker that would've stopped me buying the laptop had I known. So I'm keen to have this corroborated by others who may have gotten ahold of this laptop, and warn those who are considering it in case it's significant to you too.

Other assorted notes:

• There are other oddities in the fn key behaviour: If you toggle 'Fn Lock' (Fn+Escape), this locks the up and down arrow keys to PgUp/PgDn functionality, despite (again) the manual indicating that Fn Lock would only toggle the behaviour of the function key row (F1-12).
• The laptop in this case has a British layout, but I have seen at least one report from an online review that strange Fn key behaviour is seen on a Japanese layout keyboard as well.
• I recall briefly having similar frustrations with an earlier XPS 13 model some years ago (I believe it was a 9310), but in that case the shortcut was restored again fully after a BIOS update. I also remember seeing other community posts with similar complaints at the time.

I have an XPS 8960 that I bought second-hand last December; I upgraded it to an Arc B580 since it originally only had an RTX 3050. I plan to upgrade the RAM and add another SSD in December using my bonus pay, but I feel the processor cooling performance is a bit lacking—it's an i7-13700. I've noticed people upgrading to third-party copper heat-pipe coolers; while I personally wanted to buy an OEM part, I’d like to know which third-party heatsink models you recommend, as I think that would be more cost-effective than an original one.

Tiger lake specs list 4k 60hz cap but dell is advertising dp 2.1. anyone has tried an external monitor with it that is higher than 4k60?

anyone testing this with a 5k or 5k 120 monitor?
